About Comprehensive Wellness Centers | Mental Health & Substance Abuse Rehab Center

A unique thing about this facility is they have multiple specialized programs for helping those struggling with addiction. The academic and vocational programs transition clients back into higher education and help them attain employment. Their academic case management services focus on arranging GED prep work and assistance in college enrollment. The vocational case management services focus on topics such as resume building and employment placement services.

Comprehensive Wellness Centers believes that it’s often the case that addressing a client’s trauma can increase the chances of sustained recovery. Therapeutic approaches that therapists may use on clients to address trauma include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. DBT teaches clients distress tolerance and coping skills to deal with their emotional dysregulation, and EMDR is designed to help clients cope with the experience of negative events in the past.

When clients complete recovery, the alumni program is available for ongoing support. It offers a 24 hour help hotline, an online support group through Facebook and alumni support meetings.

Bullied, forced to do what Micah didn't have to force me to do. I was refusing to talk to police so they physically threw me in a police car and 24hr later I'm writing to you. I am here for alcohol recovery and I had wanted to drink. Because I held my strength and didn't, my anxiety was interpreted as "decompensation" and that is their justification. I never needed to be treated so evil. The clinical director making the call is asking me to do 3 more days forcibly at Neuro and take my freedoms again. I spending the night homeless since I can talk to a higher up. It's Sunday now, Monday I hope she will talk to me and sort it out. I don't need to be forced to prove I'm stable. Disgusted to be forced to do the hoops against my best interests. I am AMA since nobody meet me halfway.

Accepted Insurance

Comprehensive Wellness Centers | Mental Health & Substance Abuse Rehab Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Often referred to as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers an intensive treatment option that allows individuals to return home at night. PHP treatment typically requires a minimum of 20 hours a week for an average of 90 days. Participants attend daily therapeutic sessions, receive medication management, and have access to skilled medical professionals. While costs can vary, most insurance will fully or partially cover a partial hospitalization program.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

In Florida, substance abuse treatment focuses on treating mental health and substance use disorders concurrently to improve recovery outcomes and overall health. Levels of care include medical detox, outpatient, residential treatment, and intensive outpatient programs. Clinicians utilize evidence-based therapies such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) or medication-assisted treatment, group therapy, and skills training activities. This comprehensive approach to treatment helps to ensure sustained recovery.

When you have a mental health disorder and an addiction, it's known as a co-occurring disorder. Since treating both conditions at the same time is critical, you'll want to seek out a dual diagnosis treatment center. These specialized rehabs offer the care needed to overcome both disorders, which drastically increases your chances of success in long-term recovery. Types of therapies provided tend to include individual and group counseling, relapse prevention education, coping skills training, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy helps you work through the psychological impact that traumatic events have had on your life. Your therapist helps you identify the physical, emotional, and mental triggers and develop coping mechanisms. This helps rebuild a sense of safety and trust in yourself and others.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

One benefit of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) in Florida is variety. NRT comes in multiple forms that you can use in different ways. This allows you to choose the form that works best with your needs and lifestyle. Your options include gum, patches, inhalers, and prescription medication.

Really need to get their stuff together. Medication times are all over the place and rarely have mid day meds even been remotely close to times and night time meds are forced way to early most of the time. Place can't even provide enough staff and the ones there act like it's a burden. Go elsewhere!

Comprehensive Wellness Centers has been truly life-changing. From the moment I entered the program on May 2, 2025, I was met with compassion, structure, and professionalism that exceeded all expectations. The treatment is intensive, ranging 12 to 40 hours of weekly clinical group therapy, individual sessions, psychiatric care, and Transcranial Magentic Stimulation therapy, but every element is thoughtfully designed and deeply impactful. Their staff is not only highly trained, but genuinely invested in patient success. The center is fully licensed and Joint Commission accredited, ensuring top-tier standards of care. The program goes beyond symptom management, as it specifically supports lasting recovery with individualized plans, real-world integration, and a compassionate community. Since transitioning to the virtual IOP, I’ve continued to receive exceptional support while reintegrating into daily life. The virtual program is just as engaging and effective, helping me stay grounded, focused, and accountable. CWC didn’t just help me recover, they helped me reclaim my life. I recommend this program wholeheartedly to anyone seeking meaningful, lasting change.

COMPREHENSIVE WELLNESS SAVED MY LIFE!!! The program is by far the best there is. It's pure magic! Every step of the way, they helped me heal. I was welcomed with open arms. They met me at the door with a smile, showed me addiction is not a moral failing, but a coping skill. it's how my brain has been wired to survive. They showed me it's okay to let the weight of the world I was carrying go. Embracing me and showing me that healing can and will be ugly but it happens if you let it. It's okay to show up broken, scared, not knowing what to do. They showed me the way and helped me set goals, work through them and, kept me accountable. They sculpted every flaw into something beautiful. They have thrown traditional treatment out the door and created something special. I truly can not say enough good things about this what i would call a family! They taught me it's okay to finally heal. As you can tell I wouldn't only recommend this program but encourage anyone whether it's you or someone you know who's beat down and broken by life or addiction to look no further. I promise you this is the place. I give you my word on that. Heather: I'll start with my favorite, Heather, because she truly is a Rockstar. Shes 4'8" and will Assassinate any problems you throw at her!!! I'm starting with her because she fought to keep me there when my insurance said NO. she made sure I got a food card when I probably shouldn't have and made me feel like I was home for the first time EVER. I learned quickly if you have a problem, she's gonna slove it, and she did....EVERY TIME. Thank you, Heather, you are a Blessing!! 💯💯 Ron: what can I say? Ron eat, sleeps and breathes CWC. He always goes above and beyond. Never ever did I ever see him with an attitude. He is a true hero and someone I strive to be more like. We need more Ron's and the world would be a fantastic place. Thank you, sir. You truly are an inspiration!!! Gary K: Gary is the father figure of the program. He is an addiction/A.A Guru! The God father of recovery!!! You saved my life, Gary. You kept me there when I wanted to leave. You love every single person you meet and I know what recovery looks like because I know you. You make this place what it is. You are the most passionate person I know when it comes to recovery. The stories you have are unbelievable. What a crazy and successful life, Gary!!! You have no idea who you are and how much good you have done for this world. You truly are the G.O.A.T. Your knowledge and history is unmatched. Big big shout out and hug to you. You will be a life long friend. I love you, Gary! Paul: I saved paul for last because he's my favorite person there is. Paul Is my healer. Paul taught me to heal, period. I would not be here without you Paul, I hope you know how incredibly fantastic and amazing you are. You hold the room, you uplift and make me amd everyone feel like we're not worthless. You know how to make someone feel important and special. You really do. I look up to you so much because of your strength and courage. You showed up in the worst season of your life in the best way possible. You say "how do I tell you to show up,and I'm not going to?" You are an open book and we healed together. Your work fascinates me. Everything you bring to the table is perfect because it's real. I know you at your worst but it's like you're doing the best you ever have. It's truly incredible. Man I can not say it enough, you're a blessing!!! Thank you so much, Paul !! Bro, you published what? Five books? While I was there. I can't say it enough. You'll be part of my success. Thank you, brother!! Jason, the owner and EVERYONE else is amazing too. I know I forgot people but the list goes on and on. And remember..... "Everything will be okay in the end, if it's not okay, it's not the end!" 90% of review was deleted becase of length
