About Lakeshore Counseling Services
Lakeshore Counseling Services in Holland, Michigan, is no longer in business. They were a provider of substance use disorder treatment.
Those services are now provided by the Lakeshore Regional Entity (LRE). This is a State of Michigan Prepaid Inpatient Medicaid Health Plan for behavioral and mental health care in the seven western counties of Michigan. Kent, Muskegon, Ottawa, Oceana, Lake, Mason and Allegan Counties.
More About the LRE
The LRE provides services to adults and children with mental health challenges. This includes substance use. Services for the developmentally disabled and intellectually disabled population are also provided. By networking with a variety of service providers throughout the area, the LRE creates a community commitment to quality care and transparency with the use of public funds.
Local service systems also increase accessibility and provide a proactive approach to high quality specialized treatment and recovery services. Educational programs such TalkSooner.org focus on substance use prevention by helping parents to learn to talk to their kids about substances before it becomes a problem. The gambling prevention project is another educational program that helps people develop responsible financial behaviors.
A resource library is available online to provide training for providers working with mental health clients. Audit tools and policy and procedures are provided as examples to aid in compliance and accreditation.
A Guide to Services resource is provided on the website that lists all the program specific rules for participation in the program for both providers and clients. These include emergency services, stabilization, post crisis recovery and much more.
Other Forms of Payment
Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.
Addiction Treatments
Treatments
The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.
Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.
A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.
Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.
Programs

Clinical Services
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
