I ve used the VA health system since my military retirement in 2011. This is the third state I ve lived in during that time and have been coming to this clinic since 2020. While some of the VA facilities I ve visited in the past were not good, I really like this one. I get the care I need and the people have always been friendly. Just went for my first visit to establish care here. I had a great experience, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Also, whoever was working in the lab this morning doing blood draw was an expert. That was by far the least painful blood draw I've had, literally felt like a mosquito bite.

My husband Vincent had shoulder surgery on January 2nd with Dr. Tenuta. It went very well. He received outstanding care from this doctor plus all staff involved. They checked and double checked every step. From anesthesiologist to release all were professional and very caring. Passing the desk on the way out I thanked everyone at the nurses station for taking such good care of him! We love our veterans! was the reply. Fisher house was amazing as well! Methadone maintenance is the gold standard for opiate addiction for a reason. This stuff works, in addition I ll add my counselor Katie is a straight up G. She truly cares about her clients. The rest of the admin staff is lovely as well. Our dosing nurses are fast and friendly. The only negative is the head nurse zaria or whatever, she leaves ALOT to be desired to say the least. How she is a medical professional at all is honestly a mystery.

Abuse is not temporary. You could remember it and be scared. They were Good listeners. I met bad a long time ago and they always hurt me. We need better care if you are alone because it is manipulated by bad. We need better housing for the abused with a social worker check in. There's time to rest and time to learn and understand more about your addiction and mental health and how to make it through life in a healthy way. I was there from 1983 until June 1985..upper campus..McLane cottage..I still remember miss t and miss baily..Mr gaston..and kojack..are night guy..by the time I got there I had already been through 20 other places..some ruff joints like industry..monroe county children's center..ect...so birkshire was a walk in the park for me..I still have a couple close friends from there I'm in contact with today..I would like to say being there taught me everything I needed to know to change my life but 2 months after release I was locked up and ready to go to and adult facility..after getting out of that in 1991 I never looked back..I raised 4 successful kids and changed up my whole life..I still think about some of what I learned there and think some of it helped me and were actually good years of my life there..I live in upstate ny..elmira and its like 4 or 5 hours from me or I would be visiting to se e the changes over the years..if anyone reads this I'm mike coats..little man..McLean cottage 83-85 hit me up.

Eh..on one hand I owe them for helping me when I was in a very bad situation so I have to say that much. On the other I have never had an organization refuse to listen to my feedback like Mohawk Opportunities. The staff at lower levels are grouchy and talk down to you, it's very demoralizing and triggers the very issues they claim to be helping me with. I guess what I'm saying is the staff needs sensitivity training, particularly for someone claiming to work in the mental health field. I'm high functioning so if I'm getting treated like this I fear for the other clients.So sometimes I feel patronized, I get the feeling they aren't familiar with clients with cptsd. However, I am eternally grateful to these folks for aiding me & giving me a beautiful 1st apartment. Thank you everyone at Mohawk & because of that you get 4 stars despite my concerns.Edit: adding a star as they've grown on me & I do appreciate their help.

My husband spent 11 days in Ellis. His care was excellent for the most part. The cardiac care unit was exceptional. And if you are ever unfortunate enough to end up in the pulmonary care unit (which also provided my husband very good care), there is a nurse there named Mianna who is a ray of sunshine. She was unfailingly helpful and stopped into his room several times a day just to see how he was doing.

I am writing this review as a mother to other mothers. My son s journey here has started a change in his life and his way of thinking. He told me constantly the staff, the nurses, counselors, his counselor Bonnie and the Director Linda were amazing. My family is so grateful to them. Their knowledge and kindness s is like no other treatment center.

Locations not great and the hours are limited? Don't understand that with need, and to easy to miss in traffic. But, though understaffed they do manage to assist best they can and are plesant to deal with. As for the phones your better off with a walk-in... at least face to face you'll get quicker results than that foolish answering system, if its working at all... will gives you the run around. Use to be able to circumvent this feature for direct contact with a pulse but that seems to have been eliminated for automation? That helps no one but the office.

It's a small location with a small team who will help you with whatever you need. Everyone there is very approachable, and if you need assistance they can't provide they can point you in the direction of a video consult or Albany VA specialty care. I'm very glad I chose to visit them

Been going here since 2016 my mom went there too. Never have I had a disrespectful worker there, they treat you with kindness with in reason. My therapists are always and still go out of their way to help me in most facets of my life, their jobs is to help you with your mental illness not to find jobs or to do the work for you. And in that respect sometimes they go above and beyond. I had one bad experience with a newer therapist but they asked me if I wanted a new one and they gave them to me I ve had two others and they are the best. Even my doctor from there is awesome. They even let me change my psychiatrist. So in my experience this place with all its programs is one of the best. And I still go there and will continue. If there are any problems you caused them yourself .

I ve been going here since my suicide attempt in May of 2017 and I honestly couldn t be happier with the doctors I have. I d never been able to find a therapist I clicked with until I got here (Miklos). I will admit that I endured a couple years of suffering under the spacey and aggressive rule of Dr Mittol, who used the threat of withholding refills to force me into bending to his arbitrary rules, but I was able to switch to a better psychiatrist, and once that one retired I was sent to an even better one (Dr Mantas) who I am so pleased with.I ve even started seeing the primary care here (Dr Ferro) so I have all my needs available in one building, and I have to say he too is probably the most personable and attentive PCP I ve ever had.It s always clean and everyone has always been pleasant.Very little funding and care is allocated to health care in this awful country, in general, so this is of course going to be especially true for mental health services, which aren t taken as seriously by really anyone. It is because of this national systemic problem that I think someone may have struggles getting an appointment or finding the doctor who is right for them. The benefits of this field aren t grand, so I do truly believe the people working here are doing so because they are passionate about what they do. Some doctors are jerks (like my old psychiatrist), but please try to remember that the people here are also constantly being obstructed from providing full care by our privatized, for-profit health care system.
