This is THE WORST ER! Do not waist your time going here. These doctors and nurses do not care about you and are only interested in getting you in and out. Every concern I had was over looked even tho my symptoms started 2 years ago and have worsened over the last 6 months. I told them about the swollen lymph node in my neck and the doctor felt it and was unsure what it was.. the very next day I happened to have a follow up with a different doctor who did confirm the swollen lymph node. I also told the doctor in the ER that I had just had a MRI on my brain less than 2 weeks ago and in that report it states no signs of sinusitis and that my sinuses looked clear, and the doctor failed to read through that MRI and blamed the swollen lymph node on possible sinusitis which was false. The doctor also failed to look at previous scans done by unity of my abdomen that showed prior lymph node swelling. Despite my begging this doctor to “help me please” — he turned me away and made up and easy fix to get me out of there. Now my chart will have musculoskeletal diagnosis when that’s completely false which will in fact lead to a more lengthy time of a diagnosis when other doctors look at that chart. I will not be surprised if one of these days you get sued for medical neglect. “I don’t think it’s beneficial to do CT scan on you” despite having previous scans with swollen lymph nodes. They did no blood work to check my complete blood count, nothing at all. After sitting in there for probably 3-4 hours crying from pain they gave me valum and tordol which I previously stated didn’t work because I had a script for it and tried taking at home. My symptoms are continuously being over looked by heath care “professionals” because that’s what makes their jobs easier. I wake up feeling like I have the flu EVERY SINGLE DAY! Which I stated during this visit. They are actively performing medical neglect by not performing imaging and not stating the refusal in the charts.

This was not my first negative experience with Unity, but I’m finally complaining about it because I’m pregnant, and so hurt I wasn’t taken seriously. I recently went into the ER experiencing severe abdominal pain and violent vomiting at 27 weeks pregnant. The ER sent me to the New Life Center because of how far along into my pregnancy I am. I was monitored for contractions for two hours and a doctor never came to see me. The nurse told me that being pregnant/eating/constipation was probably just hurting me because my body is “so little.” The nurse went to talk to Doctor—Who was the doctor? Couldn’t tell you, because again, a doctor never came to see me—said the doctor wanted to know if I had tums at home because it seemed like I had heartburn, and then I was sent on my way. I was still experiencing sporadic severe pains and scheduled an appointment with my doctor in Little Rock as soon as I could because I suspected something else was wrong. Long story short, my OB was appalled and blood work was immediately performed and I was scheduled for ultrasounds on my abdomen. I have gallstones and a polyp in my gallbladder wall causing gallbladder attacks. Pregnant women are prone to gallbladder issues/gallstones, and my doctor in LR recognized it in seconds. Thankfully I’m getting the help I need (get this organ out of me!!!) but I cannot believe that a doctor sent me home to “take some tums” without seeing me, and I was told my body likely hurt because “you’re just so little.” Now I get the joy of waiting on a bill to show up in the mail to see how much I have to pay for a doctor telling me to go home and take some tums without ever coming and seeing me face to face!

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
