I am not sure who's leaving these 5 star reviews but they couldn't possibly be about the same place my mother stayed last year. My mother was there for about a month in 2024 and these online reviews were part of the reason for my selection. She went for rehab. From the start it was a disaster. Their visiting hours were very suspect. At the time they were from noon to 6 pm. So if you had a regular 9 to 5 job you weren't able to see your loved one and you never were able to meet who was taking care of them overnight because shift change was at 7pm. My mother got there on a Friday around noon. I spoke with a few people about her needs (she has a rare neurological disorder) and what we were to expect. I am not sure about now but a year ago they were still using paper charts nothing was logged on a computer. Her chart looked like 2 encyclopedias put together. Someone was with her everyday and I called at least twice a day. She told us she was hungry. When we asked about her eating it was always oh she just ate before you guys got here. I found out on Sunday night that she had not eaten since she got there because the dietician wasn't there to create a meal plan for her. And the nurse had nerve to tell me well she just ate a piece of chocolate cake like that was supposed to make it better. In 3 days all she had was a piece of chocolate cake. They also had her taking so much medication that she couldn't even talk. I came in after the weekend and she looked like she was getting ready to cry and she kept patting her private area. I was trying to figure out what she needed. Eventually I pulled back the blanket and saw that her gown was crusty brown in the front like she hadn't been cleaned in a couple of days. They tried to tell me that she had just been cleaned up before I got there. If that was the case it wouldn't have been crusty. While I was talking with the quality care person and the charge nurse I found out that she went into respiratory distress and a small medical procedure had to be done and I was never informed. Remember I said I called at least twice a day and no one thought to tell me then or to even give me call. My requests to meet with the doctor was finally answered after several days. He initially thought he would be able to tell me anything and I would believe it. That is not the case. I've been my mother's caregiver for 6 years and have learned quite a bit. We went over her medication list and she was taken off quite a few of the meds they were giving her. Fast forward a couple of days. My mother cannot have cheese. It triggers her condition and they were told this several times. I saw that there was mac & cheese on the menu but I was reassured that she wouldn't be given any. I called to speak with her night nurse and found out she had been given cheese. The nurse told me she had it when I asked what she'd eaten and when I reminded her that she couldn't have cheese she backtracked and changed the story. When I told her that triggers her disorder the nurse said, "Yeah I read that in her chart but I've never heard of that before." Like because she never heard of it it wasn't real. Earlier in the conversation the nurse told me she had to give her some extra medication to calm her down. Now I know it was because she had an episode from the cheese. There were a few other small things that happened and the condition of the room was not so great. For example the switch on the light that was on the wall behind her bed was broken and it was on. There was no other way to cut it off. I did not realize this until I tried to cut it off so she could go to sleep after she had been there for a couple of days. At this point she was suffering really bad from sundowning. I made several complaints and would receive a letter promising that the staff would be given the proper training and it wouldn't happen again. I am not even sure if the rehab was ever done because I was always told it happened before I got there. I had her removed as soon as it was possible.

I would like to share my experience about select .. My time was very comfortable thanks to Takenia. She Made me feel like I’m at home by helping me with showers, making sure I received the right food for my meals. But what really made me appreciate her is I was scared to go home with them lowering my oxygen and didn’t feel safe and wasn’t ready and she went to talk to the case manager and got me an extension so I could feel comfortable when I leave. I’m glad I got to experience select specialty and was treated like family.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
