My wife broke her foot. Went to the emergency room they provided x-rays and refused any other treatment as she did not have insurance. They sent her on her way. Several weeks later we look into my chart and they wrote that she declined treatment. While there they mixed her chart up with another patient and almost received treatment for the wrong procedure. The attending physician was too busy to be involved. The treatment she received was Horrid. I would recommend to go anywhere else but here for treatment

This hospital is the worst I have ever seen! They healthcare providers are lazy, unwilling to help. My parent sat in the bed wet soaked not one medical provider tried to change her after she stated it. The female nurses and MA’s sit around and not only talk about patients badly and the family, they worry about if they look good over giving care. For this to be the only hospital in Monroe and Northern Ohio area, I would not be shocked on if the morgue is full because of malpractice that hadn’t been identified at this time. The hospital is uncleared finger prints all over patient room windows, glass doors, ER, dirty floors, staff wearing dirty scrubs, staff not being hygienic, absolutely by far the worst. The 4th floor staff needs to be evaluated for competency. This is worst than a teaching hospital.I would love to put actual names of the providers, I know each and every one of them. I will say this, there will be people accountable and names will be sent to Lansing for review.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program have already completed high-level treatment and have begun to develop essential recovery skills. Rehab aftercare services are designed to support clients' sustained sobriety as they reintegrate into their home, workplace, and community. Case managers, care teams, and clients design the customized service portfolio that will best support the client's long-term sobriety. Clients may receive peer coaching, 12 step program induction, vocational training, and relapse prevention services.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Went to this hospital for help. Swollen neck, stiff neck, sore throat , ear pain , jaw pain, severe abdomen pain, burning down there constantly and while urinating. rash on stomach, stabbing pain upper abdomen right side, stabbing pain on left side behind eyeball , and a little further back of the brain, also profusely sweating, feverish!! Wouldn’t u know Dr Johnson already profiled me b4 he even came to my room . How pathetic from august, I went to a different ER , so what! By all means I’m not a doctor however my symptoms are very noticeable and I hurt terribly and it’s debilitating!! By all means not normal! I thought I had meningitis , then dr and nurse came in with no mask disrespecting me by not wearing mask before running any tests!! Several of These are new symptoms and I had fallen 4 days prior. of coming to ER ! Nobody’s neck swells up for NO reason! I’m really starting to think this is all from the Covid-19 Jab I received 3 times, that others have talked me into it! Dr Johnson smelled! And never did come back to check on me so can u please tell him his mildewy clothes need to be in dryer a little longer, but it maybe his washer needs a good cleaning. Anyway no help , no ultrasound , no brain scan, no testing rash , No IV only a muscle relaxer and recommend a neck brace. WTH is that going to do for stabbing pain in my stomach and brain? Or even other issues? Received the most painful and sloppiest IV prep ever. Blood all over my arm, painful the entire time, very painful when given . if nurse Paula and dr Johnson wouldn’t have dismissed me and dug a little deeper into my file I have a brain tumor in front that has been growing or not growing for the past couple of years! I also have borderline glaucoma! And if u dug a little deeper u would have seen a bunch of uterine fibroids and cyst on ovaries I was already supposed to have surgical procedure done a couple years ago ..also a odor like this down there isn’t normal!!. my gynecologist recently told me to go to ER if i couldn’t wait until the 20th to get ultrasound done because he needs to see results to help me . So all these so called specialists need to go back to school!! considering I told u from august until now these were different symptoms. One thing good about this whole visit was Cassandra, she was very helpful and compassionate and understanding.. but the rest is unforgivable and this is three times , 3 different areas at this hospital iam done with your stupidity. Never did get my mammogram discs (3) back that radiology said I would a few years ago. I Traveled all over to retrieve them and u kept them! Took a couple of days to get test results from this hospital after ER visit! Weird indeed! leaving this so called hospital my blood pressure was also 148/78 , mind you I have never had high blood pressure in my lifetime and iam over 50 , this just started about 4 months ago and on medication for it . Also never received results on heart monitoring. Pathetic. Our entire healthcare system is a fricken joke to these so called doctors and nurses. Nobody should be training anyone there !! Scamming insurance companies like this! Oh I did go to Social Security office like I said I would .. but Paula told me “good luck with that ” !! She also told me while I was heading to bathroom again , while I was in the hallway that my WBC was normal so Iam discharging you. So after I was done with my business I went back to room to look at mychart and only thing there was urine test that showed high glucose. Cassandra was the only one to answer my questions and asked if I was explained discharge i said no because Paula decided to tell everyone in the hallway! About WBC , that was it .. Very unprofessional. But she did comeback to the room to try and have a conflict, again no thanks. My brother all the way In Wyoming seen the pictures and heard my symptoms and he told me and 2 friends and my son told me I needed a hospital!! I’m just astounded by the lack of knowledge, compassion , reckless stupidity and rudeness I endured while I visited a emergency room

This place is a joke. Don't come here if you actually need some quick help because it's not going to happen. One person waiting just fainted. Another is puking their brains out, while I have been sitting here for over two hours bleeding to death, maybe even hymridging or clotting. But they continue calling patients that came in after me before me. This place is ridiculous. Go elsewhere for immediate help. Good luck. 🙏 Finally got in after 6 hours, did blood work and pee sample. Then left me sitting for more hours and basically said there's nothing we can do, so that they would discharge me. Waited longer. No one came. I started taking things off my arms to make the alarms go off. Still no one came. So ended up leaving with a needle in my arm. Didn't see anyone on the way out. I had my sister in nursing school take out the needle and help me more than any licensed nurse or dr did today. Go elsewhere!!!

Absolutely atrocious. The floors are stained. The lighting is darn. Most of registration is rude. Test results consisting get lost or they suddenly have no record for them bring fine. I’ve had multiple tests done there where the claim everything is normal, yet when my doctor reads the tests they are anything but normal. The cafeteria is pathetic compared to other Promedica cafeteria’s. They hardly have any food options. And they are closed when they are scheduled to be open. There’s a 24:7 grab and go (pay by card) for the staff. But patients or visitors cannot access that. Which is crazy bc Toledo hsdcs grab and give with cameras and visitors can grab s snack and self pays . And get me started on when you have to go to the ER they automatically assume you want drugs. Do better monroe!

Had a kidney stone event a week prior to going here but went to Toledo. I was nearly immediately taken to a room and given pain medication. The stone didn’t pass and I ended up in the same situation but I was in Monroe when it happened this time. I sat in the waiting room for what seemed like days in gnawing pain. There’s a sign that says that people aren’t taken back in the order they arrive and instead it’s off of their medical situation. People who were seemingly happy and comfortable were taken back before me. Other than that the staff seemed friendly and competent. I just hope the next person who comes in in that kind of pain is treated with more urgency than what I was.
