My last experience with this hospital was horrible. I have asthma, a lung disease and hyperosmia (extreme smell sensitivity. ) my question is why are perfumes and musky smelling hair ointments allowed in a hospital? I already spoke to your complaint department and she just made excuses for the person that made my visit there inexcusable.

Couldn't figure out what's wrong with my wife, released her in pain. The nurse wanted to get my wife a wheel chair because she was still in pain and the doctor said no "she can walk out".

I got admitted on Saturday. Individually the nurses are great. Last night/this am the nurses station sounded like a party. Screaming and laughing. My room is right across from where the nurses hang out. They need a lesson on professionalism when all together.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program have already completed high-level treatment and have begun to develop essential recovery skills. Rehab aftercare services are designed to support clients' sustained sobriety as they reintegrate into their home, workplace, and community. Case managers, care teams, and clients design the customized service portfolio that will best support the client's long-term sobriety. Clients may receive peer coaching, 12 step program induction, vocational training, and relapse prevention services.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

They released me knowing they gave me Benadryl. No where to go. I told them my sugar was high but nothing got done. They were rude and don't care. What kind of hospital does that knowing my sugar level was high and nothing gets done. Then I'm in pain already and no bed. I have to sit in a chair. Next I need hospital I'd rather go somewhere and just die off before I go back

Been sitting in the ER waiting room for over two hours, 17 weeks pregnant, high risk, presenting dangerous symptoms. I am the only person in the waiting room and have been the whole time. Over 9 people have left the waiting room and they are telling me that the rooms need to be "cleaned" been 40 minutes since they said three rooms were available but waiting on cleaning, I mean are you kidding me!

Dr Ford is one of the most unprofessional doctors in this hospital. Laughing about my son's situation and can't tell me what medication is best for his situation he has to do some "research" first. What cracker jack box did your degree come from. Disgusting.

2nd floor Nurses aid Nichole. Unprofessional as can be. Purposely ignored my requests and calls. Because I asked her why a bed alarm had to be on and obviously made her angry so she decided I was gonna wait for anything I wanted. I had asked to have some crackers after they knew I had not ate in 3 days and she ignored my requests letting me sit there starving for 2 solid hours. . Asked to speak with my nurse and an hr later still had not. Finally stood up set off their alarm and some total other people came in. When I finally spoke to my nurse she informed me they had not even spoke to her about it. So I demanded an AMA and left. I am going to contact hospital administration and am coming for her job. I want her fired.

I tried our local hospital out this past weekend because despite the horrible reviews and everything I've heard about it, it's only 10 minutes from my house. They got my 2 year old daughter right in, but the issue is they sent her home without fixing anything. The physician's assistant required x-rays for her arm, which the doctor came in later to tell us was not necessary as she had a simple and common issue called nursemaid's elbow. The simple solution for that is popping it back into place. No x-rays should be required, which were really painful for my daughter and also will cost us money. The doctor proceeded to try and pop her elbow in and was convinced he did, but they all failed to make sure she was properly using her elbow again and sent her home. I had to take her to a different hospital and they fixed her right away. The only positive things are that the doctor called the next day to check in and the nurses/doctor were kind to my daughter, but overall, I'm not happy as it's going to cost a lot of money for this little unsuccessful ER visit. Not to mention, they also have her temperature documented from that date and I never saw them take that at the ER. A bit concerning...

Run! Overfed my husband and he was dead 2 days later. Gastro quack changed order! Huge Mistake. The day before nice Dr. Said doing great and he was so strong. Sometimes as a doctor you just have to say I don't have enough experience and send patient to larger hospital and experienced specialty !! Every patient is not just a number. Look at the facts. They should have done surgery and he'd be alive still. Two nurses should have lost their jobs. One likes to fight with patients' wives (Sh.) the other should have had consultation. 200 mL straight is not 40 ml drip. So glad no one called me after repeatedly told husband did not want to make these decisions! Never should have happened like this. Ask all other nurses and Dr I came in contact w plus even AI knew the answer. It even said you would kill your patient. Four nurses were very nice. ER Dr. s were nice. I like Dr. Sherer but not even a phone call back. I wish surgical would have did the surgery when we said we wanted that! Hindsight is 20/20 but we said that right away. Everyone said no, get treatment first. Oh yeah it never came. About 6 wks to diagnose and dead 3 months later. At 4 wks they knew by pathology most likely was x but no treatment allowed yet.

03/31/25 my 2 year old son got a popcorn kernel stuck in his nose. We tried everything in our power to get the kernel out. When that was unsuccessful my wife and I made the decision to go to promedica Monroe hospital with him. Upon arrival the waiting room was packed which is whatever but we ended up sitting in the waiting room for two hours with a screaming overlytired 2 year old. They finally came and got us to take us back and the nurse walks us to a room and immediately walks away. Upon my wife sitting down in the bed and it now being close to 1 am I started looking around and noticed a just under half full vacuum canister of human waste. I got up and started walking around the room to find a ton of dried blood all over the floor. The last thing we wanted to do is be stuck right back into the waiting room if we complained after already being in there for 2 hours and our toddler nonstop screaming due to it being hours past his bedtime. Around 3:05 am the doctor finally came in and spent less then 30 seconds in the room asking why we were there and then said she would be back in a little bit. At approximately 3:10 am I tickled my son and the popcorn kernel shot out of his nose. They ended up discharging us. On 4/1/25 I contacted promedicas customer service hotline to file a report and after explaining the situation with the lady she proceeded to tell me “it must of just been busy” and then asked “if you think it was as dirty as you’re telling me then how come you didn’t just get up and walk out”. I got agitated with that service representative for not just taking my report. I finally filed enough reports for Kelli the ER Director to call me. She asked for the pictures I took and then told me she would call me back in a few days. Upon her calling me back she stated stuff would be handled at the hospital since it’s up to the nurses to clean the rooms and myself/insurance would not be billed due to the room being dirty. Fast forward to now and they billed my insurance over $1000 for a dirty room that had human bodily fluids all over it. I don’t recommend Promedica Monroe to anyone. Not only will they screw you over they will still bill you for services that weren’t rendered. The fact you guys reach out to everyone also after the fact and “try” to improve services when I put in there I’ve talked to customer service agents already who turn a terrible situation worse is almost laughable.

If I can give 0 stars I would. The only saving grace were the female nurses there. The dr went to discharge me without even really going over anything. He didn't even step fully in the room. It was the nurse that sat down to go over my results. Which she said to another nurse. That yes I have blood in my urine. Why didn't they give her a CT scan. (Which took literally 10 mins) Got some answers from that. But if it wasn't for the nurses I wouldn't have gotten any adequate care. The Dr's all seemed like they didn't want to be there. Horrible bedside manner. Even the way I heard them speak to patients next to me was deplorable. The cherry on top was when my husband's elderly grandmother was there. They didn't even take out her iv catheter! God awful doctors and the reviews clearly show it!!
