About Recovery Unplugged Drug & Alcohol Rehab Lake Worth

Recovery Unplugged offers a variety of treatments for substance use disorders including medical detoxification, outpatient and intensive outpatient care, medication assisted treatment, and DUI and drug court assistance. I love that music is part of everything they do, forming a major part of their behavioral health treatment programs. Music assisted therapies help clients get to the root causes and triggers of their substance use, while also developing coping skills for relapse prevention.

Former clients of Recovery Unplugged have nothing but good things to say, particularly about the staff and the facilities. The dedicated staff and the tranquil accommodation, complete with a gym, outdoor activities, and music room, give clients the support, safety, and comfort needed to promote lasting recovery.

RU is a fabulous place if you are wanting to get clean/sober. I picked up the phone and made the call (again) and the alumni team went above and beyond to get me back into their detox. Thanks to everyone at RU for being there for me!

PLEASE READ BEFORE CHOOSING THIS PLACE - There are drugs circulating in this place, and personal property is constantly being reported stolen upon intake. Case management lies to people, telling people what they want to hear instead of the truth. The counseling side of things is good, but the operational side is horrible. The nursing staff was generally good, but I had an unbelievably unprofessional interaction with one nurse that was recorded on video and audio. Unfortunately for many people the negatives can vastly outweigh the positives and lead to relapse. I personally had a $7000 medical device missing after intake and the Director of operation side refused to even speak to me about it, after I was promised day after day I would get time. They were well aware of the situation, but all I can assume is that they don't care and assume the clients will just accept things as they are.

Accepted Insurance

Recovery Unplugged Drug & Alcohol Rehab Lake Worth works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs encompass multiple levels of care to facilitate clients' progress through their recovery journey. Clients who are stepping down from inpatient treatment may require intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, which involves more frequent and substantive therapeutic interventions than does standard outpatient care. Outpatient centers typically provide extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Medication assisted treatment programs (MAT) and recovery-focused life skills training are also common in outpatient care.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) involve frequent and robust therapeutic sessions for clients requiring high-level care. Clients may engage in a combination of medication assisted treatment (MAT), addiction counseling, recovery skills training, and holistic therapies for a minimum of nine and a maximum of 20 hours per week. Intensive outpatient rehab is designed primarily for persons in early recovery, those exiting detox or inpatient care, and those at an elevated relapse risk.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs support recovery through emotional, psychological, and spiritual development to address the root causes of addiction. These programs are peer directed, with participants regularly attending 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, and accessible day and night, year-round. Recovery is based on "working the steps" to understand the source of addiction, take accountability for one's life choices, and relinquish control for that which cannot be changed. Age-specific, gender-separate, and other specialized programs are widely available.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Therapists who apply cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida believe patient thoughts and behaviors are closely linked. They use this treatment method to help clients change their thought patterns so they can also change behaviors and break free from substance abuse.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Florida consists of individual therapy and group instruction. This structured program is a form of psychotherapy that incorporates the development of skills for managing emotions and relationships.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

As a short term therapeutic method, motivational interviewing in Florida requires only a couple of sessions. During these sessions, you'll have the opportunity to talk about your circumstances and any discrepancies between your current situation and future goals. You'll then decide for yourself what changes you want to make.

Trauma therapy helps you work through the psychological impact that traumatic events have had on your life. Your therapist helps you identify the physical, emotional, and mental triggers and develop coping mechanisms. This helps rebuild a sense of safety and trust in yourself and others.

During couples therapy in Florida, your therapist will take steps to get to know you, help you identify feelings, explore the past, develop solutions, and help you learn skills to manage relationship challenges. This process will allow you to work through conflict and strengthen your relationship.

During family therapy sessions, you navigate the complexities of addiction and are provided tools to help improve communication and resolve conflicts. When you work together, families can better support their loved one's recovery and restore balance and harmony within the household.

Life skills are the core skills you need for daily success. They can include self care, stress management, daily routines, and emotion control. Rehab treatment includes the development of these skills so you have the tools you need for long term recovery.

I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others about my experience at Recovery Unplugged. What was supposed to be a safe space for healing turned into a nightmare. From the moment I arrived, I felt more like a number than a person. The nursing staff were inattentive and, in some cases, outright negligent. I witnessed medication mismanagement and suspected theft of detox meds and even food. Basic care felt like a luxury, not a standard. The environment was far from therapeutic. Staff smoked constantly—often right in front of patients—creating a toxic atmosphere both literally and emotionally. The facility’s approach to treatment felt more like a billing operation than a recovery program. I saw blatant manipulation, misleading practices, and what I believe was exploitation of insurance coverage. If you’re considering this place, please do your research. Recovery should be about dignity, safety, and support—not deception and discomfort. I wouldn’t wish my experience here on anyone.

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION. This place has been a nightmare since the beginning of my boyfriend’s detox. My boyfriend was given the wrong medication and only avoided a serious problem because he caught it in time. They had a group activity where people on active detox were blindfolded and led toward a basketball hoop outside with a large piece of wood underneath. Several people, including my boyfriend, tripped and ended up with bruises. The staff did not follow through on promises made before admission and showed a shocking lack of care for safety. This place is reckless and negligent.

WARNING: I do not recommend this facility. There are far more competent treatment centers that do not lie, manipulate, commit medical malpractice, or engage in criminal negligence. During my stay, several serious incidents destroyed my trust in the staff and administration. 1. Dangerous “Trust Exercise” A group facilitator instructed us to be blindfolded and walk across the property to touch a basketball hoop. The walkway was solid brick, and the hoop area had a brick and large wooden board. Staff knew I was on medication that affected my balance and coordination but still encouraged me to participate. I fell and badly bruised myself. The exercise was supposed to build “trust,” but instead it caused injury and fear. 2. Medication Error One evening, a nurse handed me the wrong medication. When I questioned the large white pill, she said, “Oh wait, let me see,” then returned saying, “Oh no, sorry, that’s not the correct medicine.” This kind of error is inexcusable in a medical setting and constitutes medical malpractice. 3. Unprofessional Conduct by Staff Several staff members openly told me they were underpaid and understaffed. While I empathize, this kind of disclosure during treatment is unprofessional and made me feel unsafe about the care being provided. 4. Service Animal Discrimination (ADA Violation) Even after providing documentation beyond what was legally required, staff repeatedly refused to allow my service animal on the property unless I agreed to call another facility and commit to their program. I complied, and they still denied access. I have contacted legal counsel regarding this clear ADA violation. 5. Dishonest Discharge and Poor Communication After agreeing to transition from detox to the residential program, I was told—on my final medicated day—that there was suddenly “no bed available” and that I would be discharged the next morning. Later, they falsely told my mother I was discharged for being “rude,” which was never addressed with me. 6. Negligent Detox Practices While detoxing on a Subutex taper, I was given carbonated beverages (La Croix) despite severe gastrointestinal distress. I was later hospitalized for cramping and vomiting. Clinical guidance for opioid-induced constipation (OIC) recommends stool softeners, laxatives, and hydration—not carbonation, which increases gastric volume and pressure. Studies show carbonated drinks can worsen bloating and GI discomfort by trapping gas and distending the stomach. Providing these beverages to detox patients deviates from reasonable medical care and directly contributed to my hospitalization. I acknowledge that I can be firm about my rights, but that does not excuse negligence, discrimination, or dishonesty. I have contacted legal counsel regarding the ADA violations, the medication error, and the unsafe “trust exercise.” While a few counselors and nurses were compassionate and skilled, their efforts were overshadowed by serious safety, l legal, and ethical issues.

Because I struggle with both an addiction and an anxiety disorder (or any co‑occurring condition you want to mention), it mattered a lot to me that the facility addressed both. They didn’t treat addiction in isolation. This made a huge difference in how I understood my triggers and how I learned strategies to manage both issues.

Recovery Unplugged Lake Worth is a great treatment center. They provided the help I needed in a safe environment with great staff (techs, nurses, therapists, admins, cooks, yoga teacher) and a great community of peers. I highly recommend them if seeking help for alcohol/drug abuse.

This place is great made the right choice in going here. Megan was an amazing therapist who pushed me in ways others have not. The facilitators were amazing. Remix with Tyler and Mariah were by far some of the most impactful groups I’ve been apart of. The food was always on point which is always a huge benefit. The entire kitchen staff was amazing. Sarah and Chae not only provided some of the best food I’ve eaten but also were quick to make me feel at home having long talks after the dinner rush to going as far as making me chicken noodle soup when I was sick. The techs were awesome, Sammy is an absolute gangster and Keelie not only severed as the first person most people were welcomed by but one of the cheeriest and happy people that RU is lucky to have as a face of the company. If you or a loved one struggling I can not recommend this place enough. (Also has a nice gym if you are into that)
