About The CARITAS Healing Place for Men

The CARITAS Healing Place for Men provides drug and alcohol rehab services in gender specific settings for young adults and adults in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Their addiction treatment services include residential drug and alcohol rehab, an intensive outpatient program, sober living, and aftercare services. A separate program is available for women.

The Healing Place is a long-term residential addiction treatment program. Treatment begins with an assessment to determine individual needs, which informs an individualized treatment plan. Clients benefit from peer based support, employment opportunities, workforce development programs, psychoeducation, enrollment in 12 Step programs, and skills development classes.

The CARITAS Healing Place for Men also offers their addiction treatment program on an intensive outpatient basis to individuals with a substance use disorder and mental health diagnosis. Participants attend individual and group treatment sessions for improved coping skills, peer support, medication management, and recovery support meetings. Sessions are held three to four days a week.

Their recovery residence is designed to support individuals who have completed residential or outpatient treatment but require transitional support prior to returning to their community. Clients live in a recovery residence at the CARITAS Recovery Residence facility with other sober individuals and benefit from peer support services, vocational support, and recovery coaching.

All alumni receive continual care and support. Alumni often become mentors for new clients. Referrals to outside treatment facilities or within the CARITAS network may be available for clients with acute health issues.

The CARITAS Healing Place offers self-pay options. The program costs $17 per day. Additional services may accrue additional fees; please check your coverage from insurance providers like Aetna, Beacon, BlueCross/BlueShield, Cigna, Humana, and Optum for out of network benefits.

CARITAS fails to deliver on their promise of transitional support. The "case manager" at the shelter is barely available, relying on an appointment sign-up sheet that hasn t been updated since last week. It s obvious this system exists more to avoid participants than to support them which is ironic, considering her job is supposed to be helping us manage our cases. There aren t even enough people signing up to justify her being busy. Most of the time, she s just at her computer, doing what I can only assume is the bare minimum needed to justify her paycheck.A real case manager is involved, accessible, and committed to helping people move forward. If you re 24 or under and looking for real support, skip CARITAS and go straight to the Youth Hub at Commonwealth Catholic Charities on Oliver Hill Way. The staff there are passionate, hands-on, and truly invested in helping you succeed unlike what you ll experience here.If it weren t for Commonwealth Catholic Charities, I wouldn t be getting out of the situation that brought me to the Healing Place in the first place.

I am Praying my son gets the help he so dearly needs. He just arrived here for his journey to recovery after being homeless and in jail continually for years now. I pray he gets the help and support needed to finally get him on the right path and road to a new Happier and sober drug free life!🙏🏼 I will update a new review once we know how the program works and the pros and cons.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients in an intensive outpatient rehab (IOP) benefit from robust support but often do not require the high-level supervision and round-the-clock clinical care provided in an inpatient setting. Clients engage in multiple therapeutic sessions weekly, with most programs requiring between nine and 20 treatment hours per week. Intensive outpatient rehabs provide a wide array of evidence-based services, including addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, holistic therapies, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients participating in a rehab aftercare program receive comprehensive and customized support as they leave high-intensity treatment, reintegrate into their community, and focus on maintaining their sobriety. These programs offer a wide variety of services to align with the client's unique and evolving needs, often including medical, mental health, and social service program referrals. Clients typically develop their drug rehab aftercare plan in conjunction with their case manager and care team.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Known as the first step of the addiction recovery process, medical detox is the removal of addictive drugs and alcohol from your body and helping manage physical withdrawal. Medically assisted detox takes place in an inpatient setting where you will be closely monitored by a team of medical professionals to ensure your maximum health and safety. Medications like Suboxone or Vivitrol may be administered if needed to alleviate any potential withdrawal symptoms. This process is typically at least partially covered by most insurance plans.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

When men and women in Virginia participate in group therapy sessions, they learn to freely express their emotions in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and begin to understand the link between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are associated with addictive behavior.

Men and women in Virginia use individual therapy to focus on addiction related challenges as a necessary part of their drug and alcohol addiction treatment. Your therapist guides you in developing coping strategies, setting realistic goals, and building a strong foundation for an improved quality of life.

If you and your partner are facing challenges, couples therapy in Virginia is designed to help you work through those in a healthy way. Common challenges that couples therapy addresses include conflict resolution, financial disagreements, intimacy challenges, health issues, and substance abuse.

Family therapists work with all members of the family to understand the roles they play in the addiction dynamic. Addressing these patterns is crucial to developing healthier ways to interact and support each other, as well as contributing to a more effective recovery for their loved ones.

Looks like this wasn’t the answer to my son’s recovery. A staff member with a motive to punish others was the cause my son gave up on treatment here. This man should be fired ruining peoples chances for recovery. What a shame and very disappointing to say the least!

Many rules for no real reason. Staff generally hates men and misuses that hatred for their own pleasure. Food, though usually edible, is donated (expired, outdated) and generally over cooked by unskilled cooks. Unfortunately, this is the most pleasant prison like facility available as a shelter. The Healing Place has an excellent recovery center for alcohol/drug addiction. The shelter area is difficult to get into, though once in the services you are given you must be assertive to receive.
