About Atlanta Psychotherapy, LLC

Atlanta Psychotherapy LLC in Stockbridge, Georgia provides solution focused outpatient therapy for folks struggling with substance use disorders and dual diagnosis. They also offer crisis intervention, prevention and educational support. These services are provided in a comfortable and supportive atmosphere where you can receive the support you need without judgment. They take a personalized approach to treatment that supports lasting recovery and helps you work toward personal growth.

Their addiction treatment may involve family and individual counseling that uses evidence based models. Models like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) may be used in a group session with your primary therapist. These models promote positive emotions and behavioral changes that help you break the cycle of substance misuse. They address both your addictive behavior and the underlying emotional/psychological issues fueling it. The goal is to develop healthier coping skills that encourage a sober lifestyle and prevent relapse.

Your primary therapist will tailor the session to your unique needs and goals to provide the best recovery outcomes. It’s all about strengthening your coping strategies, encouraging positive change in behavior and improving your self esteem. These are the recipe for sustainable recovery and lasting sobriety. Family counseling focuses on resolving conflict, improving communication and mending relationships with your loved ones. It fosters a positive family dynamic which helps strengthen your support network. This can be very helpful to your long term recovery.

They even provide specialized therapy for stress management and conflict resolution. Knowing how to manage stress and resolve conflict reduces your likelihood of turning to alcohol/drugs when things get tough. These are potent coping tools that reduce relapse risk and support a balanced sober lifestyle. Folks with dual diagnosis conditions can benefit from general psychiatry and medication management as well.

I noticed that this facility also addresses work and career issues. This can help you regain stability and independence, build self-esteem and create a sense of purpose. It can also reduce stress related to unemployment, encourage self sufficiency and enhance lasting recovery outcomes.

This is ridiculous. The doctor never showed for my partners appointment. They tried to charge her $60 dollars as a cancellation fee because he never showed up. This place was unprofessional and rude.

Atlanta Psychotherapy continues to help and support in ways that I cannot even put into words. I am so grateful for not only the mental health support but also the common decency that has not been all that common in society. It's nice to have a safe nonjudgemental space where I can get the help I need!

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Their phone system is not very reliable during business hours as it does not usually have a response or voicemail.. however, when it's answered they are most helpful and will go all out to get the medication authorization request to go through the plan. Sherika the nurse is Great!!

Always a place where I can go and find comfort for whatever is going on in my life. Family is great but they can't always handle hurt that isn't visible.Recommended several people and they were able to get through life's crisis. Oh and I forget to add her staff is always, always kind and willing to help even when I can barely help myself. Dorothy has been the best support through my worse times, getting to a better place and walking through my most recent crisis. Metal health is underrated but I can honestly say I found a place where I'm heard and seen. Thank you Atlanta Psychotherapy LLC !!!! And remember those reading , bad reviews are probably coming from hurt people. Take my word this is a safe space.

Atlanta Psychotherapy consistently prioritizes profit over patient care, exhibiting unprofessionalism, unethical practices, and a blatant disregard for patients' time and well-being. Elizabeth Taylor, the office manager, exacerbates these issues through condescending, dismissive, and retaliatory behavior when patients raise legitimate concerns. Elizabeth Taylor's unprofessional conduct consistently reflects a lack of genuine care, deeming her leadership in this organization detrimental to the practice and dangerous to its patients. Elizabeth Taylor’s leadership serves as a horrific disservice to the practice and its patients alike. Her unprofessional conduct, failure to communicate policies clearly, and retaliatory actions undermine patient trust and violate principles of fair business practices and patient rights. Atlanta Psychotherapy’s opaque policies, punitive billing practices, and false accusations raise serious ethical and legal concerns. A key issue is the practice’s unethical fee structure. Appointments booked for specific times are frequently canceled, rescheduled, or missed by the doctor without explanation. If the doctor calls significantly late and the patient cannot answer due to the doctors' delay, the patient not only loses their $35 co-pay, but the patient is also forced to pay a $65 "no-show" fee, before the staff will book a new appointment for the one that the doctor missed! This is a policy that clearly penalizes patients for the practice’s failures. Yet, Elizabeth Taylor and staff justify these charges by citing an undisclosed "one-hour window" policy. Per Elizabeth and staff, this policy requires that all patients be available not only at the scheduled appointment time, but for the entire hour following the appointment time. Failure to answer the doctor's call within that hour span is considered a "no show." However, it is important to note that this "one-hour window" policy was never previously communicated to patients verbally or in writing. And as of today's date, this policy cannot be found on their website or in any of the patience intake documents. Hence, this lack of transparency makes the charges unethical and potentially illegal, violating consumer protection laws that mandate fair and transparent billing practices. To add insult to injury, when patients raise concerns about cancelations, delays or fees, they are then met with aggression, rudeness, false accusations, and the retaliatory termination of future patient care. This is an extremely disturbing, retaliatory and unethical approach to patient care. Elizabeth Taylor goes on to quickly dismiss complaints and in turn labels patients as "rude" or "difficult," deflecting accountability for the practice’s shortcomings. This unprofessional behavior further erodes patient trust and highlights her lack of genuine concern for the well-being of all. Patients who book weeks or months in advance are treated as though their time is disposable, with no consideration for the inconvenience caused by their last-minute cancellations and failures to honor their commitments. In summary, Atlanta Psychotherapy’s unethical practices, unprofessional behavior, and retaliatory approach make it an unreliable and unsafe choice for patient care. Elizabeth Taylor’s mismanagement damages the practice’s reputation and demonstrates a clear lack of regard for patients’ well-being. Patients are strongly advised to seek care from more reputable providers who genuinely prioritize their time, dignity, and care.
