About Bowen Center

Their substance use recovery services include detoxification hospitalization, medication assisted treatment or MAT and intensive outpatient therapy. Detoxification hospitalization or medical detox takes place at their clinic. This will typically be the first step in your recovery journey. It involves safely stabilizing or managing your withdrawal symptoms under medical supervision by trained professionals. Medicine may be administered if necessary to ease your withdrawal symptoms. The goal is to wean your body off addiction-related toxins in preparation for the main therapy.

After detox you can continue recovery via their intensive outpatient care. This program delivers intense and structured support without compromising flexibility. It involves about nine hours of group therapy sessions weekly and can last up to 12 weeks. You’ll also participate in individual therapy sessions and addiction education classes. This program focuses on life skill training, relapse prevention and the development of solid coping skills. The sessions are designed to fit your daily routine.

Medication assisted treatment may be incorporated into the program or provided as a standalone program. This evidence based technique is effective in addressing opioid addiction and alcoholism. It uses FDA approved medication alongside counseling to support recovery. The medicine addresses the physical aspect of the addiction while counseling tackles the psychological symptoms. This helps you achieve and maintain recovery.

The facility also offers family education support to help loved ones understand addiction and become an active part of the recovery process. Specialized programs are available for teens struggling with substance abuse or co-occurring conditions.

Aftercare service may involve referral to their transitional living facility. This program equips you with skills and tools for independent living. Services includes onsite life skill coaching, medication management and connection to community services.

Dr. Ghori has no business being in healthcare as she has no interest in treating people. My daughter has been a patient at Bowen for four years and not only has her mental health not improved, but it's gotten worse and Dr. Ghori has definitely contributed to that. She asks questions solely for the purpose of hearing her own predetermined answers and if you express your own feelings that aren't what she wants to hear, she cuts you off, and talks over you. This is appalling behavior for a mental health professional. She will say out loud that she does not believe medication is the answer to promoting positive mental health, then turn around and prescribe a 14-year-old child Lexapro, Wellbutrin, and BuSpar to take simultaneously, more or less putting the child into a disassociated, tripped out state of mind. When she finally decided her patient was worth listening to, and realized this was making matters worse, instead of a slow taper or gentle adjustment, she ripped these meds away and replaced them with Zoloft. I'm no medical professional, but even I know that a patient has more success and fewer concerns using a taper method when stopping mind altering substances. For someone who claims meds are not the answer, I have not once heard her suggest other tools such as diet or exercise to help cope with the stressors of life. Dr. Ghori, as a mental health professional, should know how important routine is to someone with mental health struggles but this is also not a concern to her. She is perfectly comfortable only keeping "office hours" during the school day, causing great disruption to her patient's routines. Further, it is beneath her to actually come into the office and her appointments consist only of five minute video chats. One would think that would make keeping the appointment easier, since there is no commute time and the appointments are so brief, but that is not the case. Patients are kept waiting, at times over an hour, for their five minutes with her neglectful care. At my daughter's final appointment with this woman who should never be allowed to treat patients, I was asked if I had questions regarding my daughter's care and after four years of things just getting worse, I finally spoke up and suggested that With healthcare deductibles being as high as they are, at some point I'm going to need to see some positive changes, instead of this continued decline, because I am not a rich woman and I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars trying to help my child, when only the opposite has happened. Instead of receiving that statement with empathy and understanding, Dr. Ghori said that my daughter now needed to be institutionalized because she was out of ideas, and kept pushing this suggestion to the point where it was clear that if I did not follow through with this, and the less than one percent chance that something did happen to my daughter actually happened, there would be legal consequences for myself, So what choice did I have? My kid is now institutionalized for 3 to 7 days for evaluation. Please understand this is after no incidents, absolutely zero action at all by my daughter to harm herself or others or anything of that nature. This is because I had the audacity to contradict Dr. Ghori And call her out on her failure as a doctor. It's also worth mentioning that despite my insurance being in the Parkview network, the doctor repeatedly attempted to push us towards Maple Heights, a mental health facility that is outside of our network. It was very curious to me that she would do this and I chose to sit there nearly another hour after our appointment with the doctor ended, having the techs present for the appt research which healthcare facilities our insurance would accept, and choosing any but the one that doctor suggested, not out of spite, but because I don't want this woman anywhere near my child again. It did cause wonder though, that perhaps she has some kind of affiliation or referral payment system set up with Maple Heights, and that's why she was pushing so hard for us to go there.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

When removing addictive substances from your body under the care of licensed medical professionals, the process is called medically assisted detox. Once you've become physically dependent on substances like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines, quitting can be uncomfortable or even dangerous. To minimize risks to your health and overall discomfort, a team of medical professionals monitors you 24/7 and provides medications if necessary (like Suboxone or methadone) to ease potential symptoms of withdrawal.

Persons who require high-level support but who do not wish to leave their homes or communities may enroll in an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Clients typically commit to a minimum of nine treatment hours across three therapeutic sessions per week, but many programs offer up to 20 hours of care weekly. Most intensive outpatient rehabs provide a combination of psychotherapy, recovery education, and holistic care. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is widely available for those in alcohol or opioid recovery.

Inpatient rehab provides intensive, round-the-clock care and is designed primarily for clients who have just completed detox, those in early recovery, and those at an increased risk of relapse. Inpatient treatment typically includes extensive psychotherapy that draws on various modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing. Clients also learn the recovery-focused life skills needed to promote sustained recovery. Many inpatient drug rehabs also offer evidence-based holistic therapies like meditation, yoga, massage, and experiential therapy.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Indiana provides substance abuse treatment programs for individuals with substance use disorders. With a range of care levels, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization programs, you'll be able to find the right treatment for you. Programs usually include a substance abuse evaluation, evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and group therapy address substance abuse and enhance coping strategies. By offering personalized treatment plans and a supportive environment, these programs strengthen your ability to maintain your recovery.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

This place is a joke, they have so many people working there but when you come in only one person is available to help you. Also, they are used to cancel appointments without any explanation. Believe me, their policies are not in the best interest of their clients.

Man we with mental illness is just a check for them . My visits are only 5-7 minutes from when the Dr comes in. They don't listen to you tlat all due to having so many people to see. This was my 4 th Dr since being with them and I'm moving to a different provider that is a private Dr . I've always had good Drs with a private practice.
