I don't know what the negative reviews are talking about. Pines has helped WAY more with a family member than Lifeway's or Segue. They even offer group support for family members that are living with patients. I think it all comes down to: you get out of it what you put into it. Nobody can do the work for you. If you keep showing up, do the things to change your reality, and use the tools you're given in therapy - over time things do change for you. I see a common thread that patients are saying they don't help, my family member says the same. He also wants everyone to do everything for him and I'm not sure he actually wants to get better. If you're looking for help with a family member, this is the place. It took years of struggling & living in hell to finally get help with our family member with his resistance. From an outside perspective & someone that has been in therapy for years, even tried lifeway's myself - Pines offers more than acceptional programs. It's worth the drive. It's all up to the patient's to get what they need from themselves ultimately.

I was going to this clinic for 7yrs. I eventually found a point in my life I was ready to taper off the medicine and live my life completely free of mind altering substances. Well not completely free yet. I enjoy my cigs and coffee lol. They will try to counsel you and help you from living a potential terrible lifestyle addicted to opiates. If you want to come off drugs you can. You have to put your mind to it.I started tapering from the methadone even by attempting to lower my dose just 1mg a medically advised method. Which I would recommend. I went from 70mg to 45mg medically advised then I decided to taper faster. The tapering process obviously helped. I know this because I was taking methadone and other opiates in the past and had to quit cold turkey do to being incarcerated. I m grateful for this place as it helped me. I hope it can help the next person.

I recently got discharged from a 4-day stay here. From the minute I was admitted I was told what was going on and questions were most certainly welcomed. I got a tour of the unit and my bedroom and was introduced to my roommate right away. I have a gluten and lactose intolerance, and the staff sat down and asked what I would like to eat and accommodated my needs. The food is great and there's plenty of options. Anytime you need something you can walk over to the nurse's station and they'll be able to help you. My nurses and the techs and the doctor were exceptional! I especially want to thank Katey, the group organizer. She and I painted and sat and talked and she said she really wanted to be a part of my healing journey and found material for our groups to help me out. I enjoyed the relaxed schedule where groups are in the morning and early afternoon and if they don't fit your needs you don't have to attend. I was able to take naps when I was tired or feeling unwell, and one night they let me sleep on the couch because I felt more comfortable doing so. I was also able to take showers at my request and recieve fresh scrubs, socks, and undergarments daily. You can also take in a phone call list and call your friends and family any time you'd like. I can't express how good this place is, and how amazing it is that I got in when they only have 7 beds at the moment. If you're looking for help for you or someone else and the person needing help is 18 or older, please go here! It's worth the drive to get the help you need!

A great program with great people i never felt like i was being judged or looked down at all in fact i was surprised by how friendly and kind everyone was and they not only made me feel like they care they proved they do when my partner had a medical issue and the staff handled it compassionately. My counselor is really chill and easy to talk to but also has the depths of knowledge to be able to have really substantive conversations basically a respectable amount of street smarts and book smarts and ability to know when to use which. I leave every appointment feeling really encouraged and hopeful. If anyone is thinking about trying maintenance therapy thia is the place to go you can actually find some hope here

A very good place to receive low-cost mental healthcare. If you need help, I can honestly urge you to give them a chance. You deserve the chance.I'm pleased to say that there has been many good changes at Oaklawn. I've been going here off and on in the 40+ years since I was in high school (back when it was known as Madison Center), and 99% of the psychiatrists and counselors have always been very good. Though they are not immune from their own confirmation bias. Unfortunately, even though I like most of them, frontline staff has been in the past unsympathetic and cruel. When you're mentally ill, specifically having Major Depressive Disorder, doing anything at all can seem like an impossible task. Just getting out of bed can be terrifying and seem to have no point. And after you had to fight yourself and the world to get there, being required to fight for yourself and the respect everyone deserves, in a place where they're supposed to be there to help people with mental illnesses, is really not just inappropriate but unforgivable. Fortunately, management is approachable, and will listen. At least they have to me, and have thanked me for bringing certain issues to their attention. Even writing me a letter a week or so after we spoke.I don't work there, and I only know the things that I've seen and experienced firsthand, but it seems like a much friendlier place to work, less sterile. Which I'm sure positively affects the frontline staffs attitudes. And though frontline staff can seem clickish, and move to defend themselves as a group when one is criticized by a patient, say by gaslighting that patient, management is aware that that is inappropriate. In the 5 years since my previous review, I only recall one single negative experience.================Older Review from 2020:A decent place for low cost psychiatric care. But the front desk staff in the Physicians floor can be extraordinary rude and unsympathetic. Especially if you mention any displeasure with Oaklawn's rules, they seem to take it as a personal insult, and really need to get a job outside of psychiatric care, because they are not suited for it. They are also discouraging when you come to make an appointment, or pick up patient assistance medications, Etc. They often don't know what they're talking about, so don't let them discourage you from what you're trying to do and insist that they pass on messages to the people and doctors you are trying to contact.

I Absolutely love and Appreciate this place for everything and Every single person they help every day. But You can only help someone as long as they want to help themselves. I am a huge Advocate for this place and all the resources it has to offer. And if you don't like this place. That's okay you don't have to go. But just know. They will be right there to help when you finally realize. Hey maybe I am the common denominator in all my problems. Oaklawn is amazing & they do help with all kinds of things. But they don't just hand it out. You gotta show them you want to help yourself. They have been my biggest support for more than 10 years now. And In my life for 15+. SPA Women s Ministry is truly amazing. A place you feel Gods presence and love!! A place you truly come as you are but will leave changed!! A place you face reality and truth; but with gentleness and compassion! You walk in welcomed and walk out transformed and feeling Jesus s tangible love for you.I volunteer once a month for a fun night and I truly am blessed beyond measure!! (Probably more than I can give). I go with the intention to give and to encourage and I leave more encouraged!! It s an anointed place and I pray the Lord continues to move and transform through this ministry!I am truly grateful to be a part of this ministry and beyond grateful to see how God works in the lives of the ladies that make the brave step of walking through the doors to make a change! Going to Awakenings was a great experience for me. It was different from every other rehab I've ever been to because I actually liked being there. When I first arrived there the staff helped me feel welcome and safe. There's not a single recovery program that will work for every person. We're all different, with different reasons why we started using and why we continued to use. Having the different programs available there was great because my counselor helped me find the best program for me. I learned why staying healthy will help me stay sober and I learned how to balance my diet better and it’s helped me more than I thought it would. I feel better and therefore the urge to use drugs to feel better isn’t there. I also found better ways to deal with my negative emotions by using music and art and that’s done a lot for me as well. The staff made sure that when I graduated from my program that I was truly ready to leave. I was and because of their help I'm still sober today.

Dr. Kramer and his office are awesome. Jon-Eric was THE best therapist. I was never in patient here, but I heard that they have real mattresses instead of the usual yoga mats. Great facility.
