Good place to get help but beware of the groups they force you to talk about issues and then the groups are supposed to be confidential no they are not.my medication doctor sent a referral over about individual therapy which was for a female but instead set me up with a male.my medication doctor stopped communicating and listening to me and chose to listen and communicate with my behavior staff who I see once a week.i like Dr. Soleai but I am the patient not the behavior staff.

A very good place to receive low-cost mental healthcare. If you need help, I can honestly urge you to give them a chance. You deserve the chance. I'm pleased to say that there has been many good changes at Oaklawn. I've been going here off and on in the 40+ years since I was in high school (back when it was known as Madison Center), and 99% of the psychiatrists and counselors have always been very good. Though they are not immune from their own confirmation bias. Unfortunately, even though I like most of them, frontline staff has been in the past unsympathetic and cruel. When you're mentally ill, specifically having Major Depressive Disorder, doing anything at all can seem like an impossible task. Just getting out of bed can be terrifying and seem to have no point. And after you had to fight yourself and the world to get there, being required to fight for yourself and the respect everyone deserves, in a place where they're supposed to be there to help people with mental illnesses, is really not just inappropriate but unforgivable. Fortunately, management is approachable, and will listen. At least they have to me, and have thanked me for bringing certain issues to their attention. Even writing me a letter a week or so after we spoke. I don't work there, and I only know the things that I've seen and experienced firsthand, but it seems like a much friendlier place to work, less sterile. Which I'm sure positively affects the frontline staffs attitudes. And though frontline staff can seem clickish, and move to defend themselves as a group when one is criticized by a patient, say by gaslighting that patient, management is aware that that is inappropriate. In the 5 years since my previous review, I only recall one single negative experience. ================ Older Review from 2020: A decent place for low cost psychiatric care. But the front desk staff in the Physicians floor can be extraordinary rude and unsympathetic. Especially if you mention any displeasure with Oaklawn's rules, they seem to take it as a personal insult, and really need to get a job outside of psychiatric care, because they are not suited for it. They are also discouraging when you come to make an appointment, or pick up patient assistance medications, Etc. They often don't know what they're talking about, so don't let them discourage you from what you're trying to do and insist that they pass on messages to the people and doctors you are trying to contact.

As of this writing I have a years experience with this location and program so will try and clarify things a bit. An important thing to understand is that each house is independent and ran by the current residents under guidelines set forth by its area chapter which in turn is governed by the state chapter then national program. Each house is run democratically by its residents with a persons power being in their vote. I feel most of the negative reviews I've heard are from those who relapsed or who routinely or egregiously violated rules and were kicked out. The only violations that allow for immediate expulsion are relapse, violence, or those of a potentially criminal nature. This program is not a good fit for everyone as it is more of a peer supported independent living type situation. It is not as rigidly governed as many halfway houses and is better suited for those comfortable in recovery and capable of living independently but still desiring some structure and guidance. As for Emyla specifically I would say it is a great location. It is near downtown with Leeper Park and the river nearly next door. The residents tend to be easy going and get along well. The house is big with 3 full baths, 3 kitchens, and 2 living rooms. It is worth looking into the place to see if it is for you but remember it is not for everyone.

Ii was a lost soul just wondering around here on earth but they cared enough to show me how, when, why, and where I should be going in life and because of these 3 ANGELS I now own a 2 story log cabin in the woods in TN. , I work for the county HWY DEPARTMENT as an equipment operator and I have taken my life back because of THEIR BELIEF IN ME. if I went to every rehab center in the world I would have never found what I did with the WHOLE STAFF AT CHOICES, LOVE THEM FOREVER, AND THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ALL I CAN BE!! I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to this rehab center and its staff. No, it’s not a luxury retreat or a spa-like setting—but neither is prison, or worse, the morgue. This place is about recovery, not comfort, and I believe they are doing exactly what they’re meant to do: helping people get their lives back. The staff was kind, dedicated, and truly cared. My son's father recently completed treatment here, and while he shared that it was incredibly tough—physically, emotionally, and mentally—he also said it was nothing compared to the pain of being out on the streets, lost in his addiction. Recovery isn’t supposed to be easy. If it were, addiction wouldn’t be so hard to beat. I’ve seen some reviews criticizing the center for not giving constant updates to family members. I get it—when someone we love is in pain, we want answers, we want involvement, we want to help. But part of the healing process means letting go of that need to control. We didn't have control when our loved ones were in active addiction, and recovery is no different. The program is designed to build independence, accountability, and internal strength. Constant calls, questions, and attempts to interfere, even with good intentions, can undermine that. Trust the process. Let the professionals do their job. It’s not always comfortable—but neither is addiction. Discomfort is part of growth, and growth is what this place is all about. If you're looking for somewhere that offers real recovery—not coddling, but healing—this is it. Let them work, and give your loved one the space to fight for their own life.

Sacred Heart started me on my recovery journey giving me the tools I needed to get sober and stay sober. I hit my 90 days sober in about 2 weeks, and I couldn’t be more happy or proud. I’m so, so, so grateful for what Sacred Heart did for me. Shout out to staff Leslie, Trish, Jessica, Tom, Johnny, Margaret, Joe and Tom#2, Elizabeth, nurses Jane and Jim.. the therapists are amazing (all of them except Maria, she’s awful) the peer recovery coaches are amazing, love the nursing staff, y’all took good care of us. I love you all and maybe I’ll come back one day to help my fellow addicts. Anyone thinking of getting sober and trying to find a good rehab, this is the one, you won’t regret it!!

I spent 3 months at ICFR South Bend. It was the 4th facility I had been at since August 2025. I can honestly say this place was a great experience for me. I came to know the staff and truly believed they had my best interest at heart. Sometimes there were communication issues but for the most part it was a nurturing, supportive environment. There were a few staff members who made my stay special. Facilitators Stephanie, Dr. Steph and Heather as well as Client Care Coordinator Constance were extremely helpful. They were a great resource and a wealth of information. I don't think my experience would have been as positive without them. I would highly recommend ICFR South Bend for recovery facility.

After completing inpatient rehabilitation, I transitioned into the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at Parkdale Center and I can say with my whole heart that it was one of the most life-changing and soul-healing experiences I’ve ever had. Parkdale didn’t just help me continue my recovery, they helped me to continue to find myself again. They believed in me, held space for my pain, and gave me the tools and encouragement to continue to rise stronger than I ever thought possible. From the leadership to the support staff, everyone at Parkdale exudes compassion, professionalism, and a deep commitment to healing. But what makes Parkdale truly exceptional are people like Rigo and Claudia. They treated me not like a number or a case, but like family. There was zero judgment, only humility, kindness, and an unwavering belief in my potential. Rigo felt like a steady big brother, firm when needed, but always full of heart. Claudia radiates warmth and made me feel safe, seen, and cared for in a way that felt almost sacred. These two, and so many others at Parkdale (like Dr. Chris, Denise, Ty, David) restored my faith in people and reminded me that recovery is possible when you’re surrounded by those who genuinely care. Parkdale is the best at what they do because they combine clinical excellence with human connection. Their program isn’t just about sobriety, it’s about rebuilding your life with dignity, strength, and purpose. If someone I love ever needed help, Parkdale is the place I would trust. Pictured: Claudia (COO). Took time out of her busy schedule to chat with me and learn about the quality of my care.

I recently got discharged from a 4-day stay here. From the minute I was admitted I was told what was going on and questions were most certainly welcomed. I got a tour of the unit and my bedroom and was introduced to my roommate right away. I have a gluten and lactose intolerance, and the staff sat down and asked what I would like to eat and accommodated my needs. The food is great and there's plenty of options. Anytime you need something you can walk over to the nurse's station and they'll be able to help you. My nurses and the techs and the doctor were exceptional! I especially want to thank Katey, the group organizer. She and I painted and sat and talked and she said she really wanted to be a part of my healing journey and found material for our groups to help me out. I enjoyed the relaxed schedule where groups are in the morning and early afternoon and if they don't fit your needs you don't have to attend. I was able to take naps when I was tired or feeling unwell, and one night they let me sleep on the couch because I felt more comfortable doing so. I was also able to take showers at my request and recieve fresh scrubs, socks, and undergarments daily. You can also take in a phone call list and call your friends and family any time you'd like. I can't express how good this place is, and how amazing it is that I got in when they only have 7 beds at the moment. If you're looking for help for you or someone else and the person needing help is 18 or older, please go here! It's worth the drive to get the help you need!

I had a client of my nonprofit, LITE, who needed access to a safe place overnight until we could find him a residential recovery program. He'd completed a detox program but we hadn't secured a "bed" for him at this next stop. Jill was welcoming and helpful and we were able to provide our client a comforting, safe space. He is now working through his recovery at the next stop thanks to this facility!

I had certain people inaccurately communicate information on my behalf. The people inaccurately communicated information when I was a minor. The information was documented as information I communicated. I have previously experienced side effects from the medication. The side effects from the medication are not documented as side effects. I have also experienced side effects from over the counter medication. There is video surveillance footage of me communicating the side effects I experienced. The video surveillance footage is supposed to prove the reactions to the medication were not side effects. I do not exhibit certain mental health concerns without taking medication that causes a reaction. I informed the company about several things that were occurring. I was expected to give the same information I previously communicated. I chose to check if they documented the information I gave. I pretended like I did not know the answers to the questions they were asking me. The psychiatry appointment was a brief appointment. I have received several inaccurate diagnoses throughout the years. The documentation is inconsistent and inaccurate documentation. The documentation they accumulated throughout the years is unreliable. The documentation from four different locations contains several differences. The psychiatrist did prescribe me a medication. I experienced multiple side effects from the medication I was given. No visual hallucinations No auditory hallucinations No paranoia Not out of touch with reality No delusions The diagnosis that I received was schizophrenia. The diagnosis that the psychiatrist communicated to me was schizophrenia.

I went here when i was 13. I am 24 now. I met some great people who had their issues but deep down they helped me grow into who i am now, they taught me very good skills that i still use today like DEARMAN. They let us get school work done and have fun in gym class. They were wonderful with issues and adressed them appropriately. I am so happy to finally leave a good review after all these years. This wasnt the place i wanted to be when i was 13 cutting myself being suicidal, but they helped me grow into who i am today, i was only there for a month because of insurance reasons. But they had great ling term care. My only complaint is that they could upgrade the food and milk, the milk tended to be spoiled most days back then, but it may be completely different now, i wish the staff and everyone who knew me the best of luck

This program is extremely adaptable, it is up to the residents to help create the environment they need to grow in. I was at SSA for nearly four months, and there I (as well as my family) have learned absolutely the most therapeutically there compared to anywhere else. Any other 1:1 therapist, any other group therapy, inpatient, IOP, rehab, anything. This program fully immerses you inside of a place of DBT and support. There are 100% difficult times here, as there are anywhere, and at the same time, there are constantly tools provided to assist with these times. You hear horror stories of residentials locking adolescents in their rooms, starving them, refusing to engage or provide helpful tools to them, restraining unnecessarily, using them to clean/as tools etc- but this is NOT one of those places. This place is SAFE. This means the necessities. AND THEN THEY HAVE MORE. Like I said, this program is very adaptable. Every group of adolescents that comes in has a say in the adjustment of the growing experience here. This ranges from just voicing your opinion in general, to leveling up and becoming a member of what they call resident council. Resident council makes changes to how the floor is run with the staff and helps teach the skills. This was something I commonly did. I made changes on the unit for my group, I lead informational groups and games all the time. There are resident lead groups, BHW groups, therapy groups, nursing groups, pet and equine therapy- and more. Here you are allowed to have fun, to engage and live and progress, but this means working the program. You can't hide things here, fake your way through, stay blunted. You will not have a good experience here if you can't work the program. And that will be part of it for a lot of people, having to go here to learn HOW TO open themselves up and be part of the program. It does take time to regulate to it, but being willing is important. At some point. A lot of these other reviews are pulling the negatives from the positives. This is likely the safest place in a several state radius for any adolescent. There are caring staff here, someone your child WILL click with and find as their safe person, and it will be okay for them. It has been extremely helpful and educational for me, and my family. Brendon, the shift coordinator for the South Shore unit, is extremely well educated and skillful. He's been working in mental health for 10+ years. He is trained very thoroughly in DBT- and more areas of therapy. Everyone that comes here will always remember him, there's no doubt about that. He leaves an educational mark on just about anyone. He will consistently lead BHW groups, teaching residents and even staff about useful DBT skills, takes residents to equine therapy, he leads the resident council activities, and more. I frequently call back onto the unit floor and talk to him, as well as other staff members. They are consistently there for old and new residents. Cloe Carda, a therapist here, is THE MOST wise, well-spoken, helpful, skillful, and caring person I have met. She has been solely the most supportive person there to me and many others. She is always willing to take on every situation she is faced with, and she is more than prepared to do so. I've never been more impressed with any mental health professional. I actually miss her each day, and I'm more than thankful I met her and the Midwest team.

So I just want to start off by stating that this facility changed my life drastically and saved my butt! Quite literally. I came to FCRC a scared, shaking, & shy woman. I was a kid on the inside. Mr. Jeff & Savannah saved me from myself AT LEAST 3 times from trying to walk out on my recovery because of issues on the outside (life continues even though we go to treatment, ya know). When I tell you I have never met a team of such caring loving & HONEST staff? I hadn’t until I walked into this facility. I graduated yesterday, with 44 days today under my belt. I had hopped on a plane from Houston TX not knowing anything but my Higher Power did. I am so beyond grateful to First City and their peeps. All the way from the Detox experience to my PHP part of my program, everyone was helpful and so kind. And that level of care? Hard to find. Aye, shout out to Bobby in PHP & IOP, that’s my boy!!! First City, thank you for giving me my life back & my children their mother back. My husband his wife. We love y’all. 🙏🏼🫶🏼🫡

Been going to Family Guidance for awhile now and I absolutely recommend this methadone clinic to anyone struggling with opiate addiction. The staff are mostly friendly and it's easy to get into the clinic within a day or two. Once you get to the correct methadone dose the dope sickness is mostly gone and then you can slowly get back to a normal life. I've had a few counselors since going here and all were nice and professional but my current one Gary is Awesome. He seems to really care and is always helpful. I would most likely be dead if I didn't sign up at Family Guidance. If you're looking for a way to stop using dope give this clinic a try.

I have had the unfortunate need to seek treatment for a family member and this is the place I would always recommend for any family I know. My dad was brought here for continued care, and I can confidently say this is the best LTACH we’ve experienced. Most of the employees here are incredibly compassionate, attentive, and genuinely caring. The staff overall are truly GREAT! Starting with the 3rd floor Nursing Manager, Joshua — an exceptional leader. He is understanding, a great listener, and was consistently supportive. He made a difficult time so much more bearable for our entire family. We are truly grateful for his presence and professionalism. A big thanks also goes to the night-shift Nurse Supervisor, Chris, who was equally outstanding and always on top of things. The nursing team deserves major recognition as well. Sylvia is top tier, and Andrea, Brigitte, Fidaa, Bosky, Jennifer, Dorian, Ritchie, Rincy, and Agaa were all excellent and deeply caring throughout. Respiratory Tech Joby stood out for his professionalism and kindness, along with team members like Vikram, Mercy, Billy, Benzie, and Anna. Unfortunately, I have to give 4 stars instead of 5 due to one very poor experience with a tech named Sheena, which did affect our overall impression of the respiratory department. I also want to commend the wonderful security team at the main entrance — Fedle, Bob, and Jerry were always warm and helpful. Special shoutout to Jasimine for her positive attitude. There are many more staff members whose names I can’t recall, but they all contributed to a truly positive experience. If you’re considering this facility for a loved one, I wholeheartedly recommend it. You can bring your family member here with peace of mind knowing they’ll be well cared for.
