This is my 2 time visiting this hospital! By far the kindest, most caring and attentive place I have ever been to! Makes you feel as though your health is their number one priority! I have never met such great, caring, empathetic and friendly medical staff in my life. I had a great experience with Better Life md, the whole process was very simple! I really liked the provider, and the rest of the staff were very nice and helpful. I met Dr. O today, he was so nice and informative, he does an incredible job of explaining things, and he truly cares. I can see that in people, and he is a dr that really cares about patients he cares for. It’s rare this day and age, and I really respect that, I am really happy I made the switch to Dr. O’s office. After completing inpatient rehabilitation, I transitioned into the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at Parkdale Center and I can say with my whole heart that it was one of the most life-changing and soul-healing experiences I’ve ever had. Parkdale didn’t just help me continue my recovery, they helped me to continue to find myself again. They believed in me, held space for my pain, and gave me the tools and encouragement to continue to rise stronger than I ever thought possible. From the leadership to the support staff, everyone at Parkdale exudes compassion, professionalism, and a deep commitment to healing. But what makes Parkdale truly exceptional are people like Rigo and Claudia. They treated me not like a number or a case, but like family. There was zero judgment, only humility, kindness, and an unwavering belief in my potential. Rigo felt like a steady big brother, firm when needed, but always full of heart. Claudia radiates warmth and made me feel safe, seen, and cared for in a way that felt almost sacred. These two, and so many others at Parkdale (like Dr. Chris, Denise, Ty, David) restored my faith in people and reminded me that recovery is possible when you’re surrounded by those who genuinely care. Parkdale is the best at what they do because they combine clinical excellence with human connection. Having used their facilities for our Union members and for a family member, the counselors are caring, responsive, and communicate very well on a treatment plan and objectives & goals. Ms Tori awesome!!!!! The group meetings and accountability for each other in treatment works in a great atmosphere. I would strongly recommend this facility if a friend, co-worker, and family members are in need of help with addictions and/or mental health. It is located in chesterton nearby for visitation purposes.

When I watched an online video of my son Terrance getting his brains obliterated and having the remaining chunks of his face slamming into the dirt I never thought I'd get over with it. Now I'm not gonna lie, I didn't. I still have nightmares of him asking for help trying to communicate with his face half-missing. But at least thanks to Edgewater Health, Dr. Lipschitz helped me get a bi-weekly supply of Zoloft and Oxycotton. We gettin' LIT. Over the days that the power was off the staff at Semeron/New Season did an outstanding job. They did thier best during an extremly difficult time. They went above and beyond to accommodate us patients the best they could. The only thing I would say that needs to be addressed is that they had to rent a generator because there's not one already provided for them. The amount of storms we have in NWI,it has happened before and will definitely happen again. The staff and patients deserve to know they'll have a clinic to come to everyday to continue our recovery journey.

Thankfully staff worked hard to keep the clinic open and kept everything well organized during the recent national disaster in which there was no power for almost 2 weeks! I was surprised that they didnt have a generator but that's probably bc of cooperate.

I must say, I'm glad I took a chance on this place. Been 6 years. I don't know where I would he without Dr. Bryant, the nurses & the scheduling girls. I'm sad to see Dr. Bryant go. She just got me ! Imma miss her so much. I almost cried when I got that call today that they were setting me up with someone else because Dr..Bryant left. 😞 but I have faith in porter-starke, I'm sure the next one will be just as good as her. But dang she was a real gem ! And they are done with telehealth visits too. That's a thumbs down. Ughhh but overall, this place has never done me wrong. I was down bad mentally when I first walked into that place 6 years ago. I was right on that edge with one foot over. The hardest thing you will ever have to do is admit you need help. One appointment with Dr. Bryant & I was immediately put on depression meds, within a month as the meds starting working I felt myself smile again for the first time in many years. Now, I'm the best I've ever been in my life. Porter starke is a village and in a moment you truly need them , they all come together. From nurses, to doctors, to front desk girls, to even a case worker. Now , I don't know if that case worker still exists, But when I first started , she would call and check on me. She has good resources to emergency housing, Food, Transportation if you need it to appointments, So many other things that she helped me with. Oh yeah And she helped me apply for disability too and other assistance. I have never had a problem getting my medication , but she also would help relay messages to the nurses and doctors for you. They also have a pharmacy inside the building. I mean It takes a village sometimes.

Honestly everyone, I been going here since I was a teenager and I have never really had a problem with them. People should understand, there are laws in place that these doctors have to follow, as long as you do your blood work when they ask and go to your appointments, you will never go without your medication. I promise. Some reviews are saying they have been without their medication for months and that the doctor just randomly stopped their medication for no reason, I don't believe that. It's simply not the truth. In 15 years, I have NEVER went without my medication! I think one time they forgot to send my scripts to the pharmacy and I simply just called the nurses and left a message and within 4 hours that medication was ready at the pharmacy and the nurse called and apologized profusely. The nurses are the backbone of that place, they try the best they can. They are human, mistakes are made. Instead of calling and yelling at them, just kindly explain the problem. They will fix it. But if you missed your appointments or didn't do what the doctor asked of you, only you can fix it , don't blame the doctors and nurses because the doctor asked you for the past 4 visits to get bloodwork and you still haven't done it (they give you several warnings) and don't blame them because you didn't go to your appointment, now your medication is due and you have no scripts at the pharmacy left. They don't ask much of us, They really don't Every 3 months they physically have to lay eyes on you and see that you are ok before sending 3 more months of scripts over to the Pharmacy. You need bloodwork maybe once a year. That's all really. I know I can't change anyone's mind about this place, but please don't read the reviews & let it stop you or scare you away from getting the help you need. They will help you, I promise!! & with no judgment. As long as you go to your appointments and do what the doctor asks of you, you won't have a problem and will never go without your medication. I promise the very last thing that place wants is a bunch of mental health patients without their medications. But their are laws they have to follow. This place isn't as bad as people make them out to be. Truly. That's I wanted to say.

My daughter passed away and I became extremely depressed. I currently see Dr.Gupta he has helped me tremendously! I'm still going through grief but atleast I feel like there is hope for better days ahead . Great nursing staff and the receptionist does a good job. So sad to be updating this review because this place turned so bad. I love the staff and loved it BUT about a month or 2 ago they got a new doctor and she's so bad! Messing with so many clients meds and lying to clients faces and so so much more! It's sad when she first started my councler even warned me how bad she is :( I don't recommend this place until they get a new good doctor!

My girlfriend and I battle opiate addiction and have went to the victory clinic in south bend (where we're from)to try getting off the opiates but left there more frustrated and discouraged than before. Now we go to Swanson and it's amazing. We are understood, heard, and not judged. People there believe in us and are willing to do anything to see us succeed So far we love it.

I went to the swanson center afraid I was going to get a doctor who wasn't going to listen to me, just prescribe pills, and send me on my way. BUT no, that is not what I got. I got a nice lady named Gloria, who , like me, is a dog lover and encouraged me to bring my dog in next appointment. I am excited to go back with my dog, not only because I can bring my dog with me, but because I liked her energy and responsive care to my woes and sorrows. Made me feel comfortable and at ease.

I went here when i was 13. I am 24 now. I met some great people who had their issues but deep down they helped me grow into who i am now, they taught me very good skills that i still use today like DEARMAN. They let us get school work done and have fun in gym class. They were wonderful with issues and adressed them appropriately. I am so happy to finally leave a good review after all these years. This wasnt the place i wanted to be when i was 13 cutting myself being suicidal, but they helped me grow into who i am today, i was only there for a month because of insurance reasons. But they had great ling term care. My only complaint is that they could upgrade the food and milk, the milk tended to be spoiled most days back then, but it may be completely different now, i wish the staff and everyone who knew me the best of luck

This program is extremely adaptable, it is up to the residents to help create the environment they need to grow in. I was at SSA for nearly four months, and there I (as well as my family) have learned absolutely the most therapeutically there compared to anywhere else. Any other 1:1 therapist, any other group therapy, inpatient, IOP, rehab, anything. This program fully immerses you inside of a place of DBT and support. There are 100% difficult times here, as there are anywhere, and at the same time, there are constantly tools provided to assist with these times. You hear horror stories of residentials locking adolescents in their rooms, starving them, refusing to engage or provide helpful tools to them, restraining unnecessarily, using them to clean/as tools etc- but this is NOT one of those places. This place is SAFE. This means the necessities. AND THEN THEY HAVE MORE. Like I said, this program is very adaptable. Every group of adolescents that comes in has a say in the adjustment of the growing experience here. This ranges from just voicing your opinion in general, to leveling up and becoming a member of what they call resident council. Resident council makes changes to how the floor is run with the staff and helps teach the skills. This was something I commonly did. I made changes on the unit for my group, I lead informational groups and games all the time. There are resident lead groups, BHW groups, therapy groups, nursing groups, pet and equine therapy- and more. Here you are allowed to have fun, to engage and live and progress, but this means working the program. You can't hide things here, fake your way through, stay blunted. You will not have a good experience here if you can't work the program. And that will be part of it for a lot of people, having to go here to learn HOW TO open themselves up and be part of the program. It does take time to regulate to it, but being willing is important. At some point. A lot of these other reviews are pulling the negatives from the positives. This is likely the safest place in a several state radius for any adolescent. There are caring staff here, someone your child WILL click with and find as their safe person, and it will be okay for them. It has been extremely helpful and educational for me, and my family. Brendon, the shift coordinator for the South Shore unit, is extremely well educated and skillful. He's been working in mental health for 10+ years. He is trained very thoroughly in DBT- and more areas of therapy. Everyone that comes here will always remember him, there's no doubt about that. He leaves an educational mark on just about anyone. He will consistently lead BHW groups, teaching residents and even staff about useful DBT skills, takes residents to equine therapy, he leads the resident council activities, and more. I frequently call back onto the unit floor and talk to him, as well as other staff members. They are consistently there for old and new residents. Cloe Carda, a therapist here, is THE MOST wise, well-spoken, helpful, skillful, and caring person I have met. She has been solely the most supportive person there to me and many others. She is always willing to take on every situation she is faced with, and she is more than prepared to do so. I've never been more impressed with any mental health professional. I actually miss her each day, and I'm more than thankful I met her and the Midwest team.

Overall, my experience at Gateway Chicago was exceptional and overwhelmingly positive. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with dignity, respect, and genuine compassion. The food was good, the staff was outstanding, and my counselor, Nate, was incredibly helpful throughout my stay. Supervisor Herb is highly professional and, as he often says, he "gets things done" for the clients—a statement I personally witnessed time and time again. His leadership has had a tremendous impact on the men's unit, and he deserves recognition for creating an environment where clients feel supported, respected, and encouraged to succeed. I would also like to recognize Mike, Muhammad, Kenny, Kevin, Richard, Eva, Prentice, Katelyn, China, Mr. B, and Dale. Dale's classes are engaging, informative, and inspiring, and his passion for recovery is evident in every interaction he has with clients. Every one of these staff members demonstrated professionalism, compassion, patience, and dedication. They treated not only me but every client with kindness and respect, making recovery feel possible and giving people hope during one of the most difficult times in their lives. Gateway Chicago, located at 3828 West Taylor Street, Chicago, Illinois 60624, did far more than provide substance abuse treatment—it helped bring sanity, clarity, and serenity back into my life. The staff consistently went above and beyond to accommodate my needs and the needs of others. I witnessed countless acts of generosity and compassion. For example, today the facility distributed an abundance of quality clothing to clients. Priority was given to those who arrived with nothing, and after everyone in need was taken care of, there were still enough clothes for others. It was just one of many examples of how Gateway genuinely cares about the people they serve. The facility itself is clean and well maintained. The beds are comfortable, clients receive three meals a day along with a snack, and the overall atmosphere promotes healing and recovery. While anyone can find something to criticize about any organization, I found very few, if any, faults with Gateway Chicago. My overall experience exceeded my expectations. I am sincerely grateful to the ownership, the corporate leadership, and every member of the staff for the hard work, compassion, passion, and dedication they show every day to individuals seeking recovery. Most importantly, I am grateful that Gateway helped me regain peace of mind, hope for the future, and the serenity I had been missing for so long. I wholeheartedly recommend Gateway Chicago to anyone seeking treatment. Their commitment to helping people rebuild their lives is evident in everything they do, and I will always be thankful for the care and support I received there.

Most grateful for this treatment center on my 7th anniversary sober from alcohol. The seeds Hazeldon planted saved my life! Shame on whoever is letting Susan Nice run meetings out of your building. She let a stranger stroke my leg her entire meeting and never stopped it once. Had the audacity to ask if it was my boyfriend after. Knowing I live with PTSD from abuse being my longtime 'godsponsor'. She just spoke at the Canada opening. How are you letting someone so detached from reality speak to those in need of help? How many meetings has she been to? Her suggestions along with Laura Ws (whos Mom works with congress scary enough) and the ladies of AA in particular are reckless. Suggested I do my first lead of life and didnt show up. How many woman have you sponsored Laura? You suggested more fellowship and ditched me at my first AA dance. 2 ladies came to Windy City Church women's big book meeting on Mondays and felt so shamed the went home and killed themselves. Those ladies made me feel the same but I refuse to kill myself though your careless suggestions made me feel like I should. The ladies in AA arent doctors. Thanks for being professionals Hazeldon. Alano clubs are hot spots for gossip that's ruining lives. Grateful to be alive and sober. Thanks for starting my journey with me 14 years ago! I can't stand the negative reviews. YES I WAS THERE. Six months ago, I almost didn't stay but I did. Such incredible staff and an incredible program. Met some of the greatest people to ever want to change their life around. Residential was amazing. PHP also an incredible program attended both with full support from all staff and peers. Been going to Family Guidance for awhile now and I absolutely recommend this methadone clinic to anyone struggling with opiate addiction. The staff are mostly friendly and it's easy to get into the clinic within a day or two. Once you get to the correct methadone dose the dope sickness is mostly gone and then you can slowly get back to a normal life. I've had a few counselors since going here and all were nice and professional but my current one Gary is Awesome. He seems to really care and is always helpful. I would most likely be dead if I didn't sign up at Family Guidance. If you're looking for a way to stop using dope give this clinic a try.

I was referred to compass back in May after being hospitalized. I had hit the lowest point in my life and after seeking mental help in multiple states with various providers, I wasn’t anticipating this would be any different. My assumptions were wrong and after 3 months, I left feeling better than I have ever felt in over 7-8 years. There is no shortage of compassionate and helpful people and resources at compass. It truly feels like everyone there is focused solely on you. A typical day looks entails 3 group sessions where you learn skills and others where you have group discussions. This can feel nerve wracking in the beginning, but mostly it gives a sense of common humanity. I had the pleasure of seeing Nathalie, Maggie, Caroline, Jaycee (I’m sorry if I missed your name) as group therapists during my time there. All of them work to keep our sessions productive and positive, and they do. Also, during the week you will get pulled from group sessions to receive even more support that include 1-1 therapy, psychiatry and outside resource help. Dr. Henry was my psychiatrist who is very concise and pleasure to be around. He takes the time to connect with your doctors and is incredibly detail oriented. Maija, worked on transitioning me to help find outside therapy (after I left), job resources and psychiatry; she is wonderful. Brian, my family therapist worked endlessly to build a better communication channel between myself and my family. He is extremely talented at what he does and I admire the work he puts in to what I know is a difficult job. Lastly, Camilla my primary therapist was the most helpful and supportive therapist I have ever had in my (I’ve seen A LOT). I don’t have enough positive things to say about her. She challenged me to take steps that no other therapist prior had been successful at. She is kind, caring and I will truly miss her support. If you’re on the fence about joining the compass I hope my review might persuade you to give it a shot. I tell my doctors, friends and family just how much the people and program meant to me and I mean it. P.S. - Shoutout to everyone working at the front desk. Only after a couple weeks they greeted by first name and were so kind and helpful.

I can’t put into words the impact compass had on me. I been debating going into the OCD program for nearly 6 months before I did and I can’t express enough the lasting impact it had on me. While I can’t speak to the other programs at Compass I can however speak extremely highly of the OCD/Complex Anxiety team. Dr. Han was the most amazing psychiatrist I have ever had, he met me where I was and made me feel like a human first. You spend the majority of your time there in group with the group therapists who truly are the heart and soul of compass. Wanted to specifically shoutout Emmy who clearly has a passion for what she does, and let me tell you she is in the right career path (lol). I am leaving compass obviously not cured but having a much better grip and understanding of my mental health, I am also leaving with a plethora of skills that I have already found extremely effective. Obviously this program is not cheap depending on insurance but I have found it worth every penny!!
