There is no empathy and Dr. Verma does not care about her patients. She spends 10 minutes with me and asks me if I have suicidal thoughts or not and ends the session. When I tried to commit suicide, she told me that I just wanted attention. She makes me feel that she does not believe my diagnosis and made me hate myself and hate going to her appointments. I relapsed again because I do not want to feel that I just need attention.

Dr. Goldstein is an amazing doctor. When my son was first diagnosed I had a lot of questions and concerns. Dr. Goldstein never made me feel rushed. He answered my questions and gave other guidance. It wasn't just "give him these pills". Trying to figure out the right medicine for your child can be challenging. We tried a new medication that didn't work out well. My son just seemed off. I was able to call and leave a message. The nurse called me back to see what was going on. And the Dr. Changed his script back to the other medication. We then discussed it at our next appointment and figured it out. My son is now doing great. Our visits with the Dr. are just updates now. But even then, the way Dr. Goldstein talks to me and my son. It truly feels like he cares about how my son is doing. My son was concerned about how his DX will affect him when he was an adult. He was worried if he would be able to pursue a certain career. Dr. Goldstein talked with him and reassured him. People on these reviews sometimes complain about having to wait longer for their appointment. I just know anytime the Dr. is running late it s because he gave someone the extra time they needed to provide that high quality of care. Lately though we haven't had to wait long at all. So maybe they rearranged his schedule to accommodate the extra time he sometimes spends with patients.

The single worst mental health facility you could go to. They charged me almost 150 to have my daughter evaluated only to tell me that they won't do the evaluation unless another mental health professional gives a written recommendation. They still kept my money that was paid out of pocket. I have been spoken to so condescendingly in my entire life. If you need help, I recommend going somewhere less interested in your money and more interested in your mental health.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

For long-term recovery from drug addiction, drug rehab in Indiana is often key. This treatment gives individuals who are struggling with a substance use disorder the tools to manage their disorder and achieve long-term sobriety.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I don't know how many of these so-called doctors are allowed to treat children. Especially children who need serious mental health treatment, which clearly these doctors are not able to provide. They always do more harm than good.

I made my main review at the Portage location if ya need advice on who to see. But wanted to shout out Micah the psychiatrist who works at this location. I’m a force to be reckon with to put it nicely but he passed the test most don’t for me. I came from having a psychiatrist who knew me for years to having to switch to Micah so I already wasn’t thrilled about it because I get the ick to easily from people. But he has been a breathe of fresh air honestly. He truly listens, not just listens to give a reply and answer, but he understands and comprehends it and that’s important. Especially a gem of a person after having to deal with me at an appointment when I’m in a manic episode cause if you know about those BPD manic episodes then you know how intense you can be. He may have had a lil fear in his eyes seeing me in that moment but he dealt with it with such care and understanding and respect even in the hardest moments. If you get lucky enough to have Micah as your psychiatrist, ask him about the large picture he has framed in his office, he’s got some pretty cool stories to tell that are guaranteed to make ya giggle.

If you need appointments scheduled for a time around your work schedule, too bad. They won't change your doctor, and they won't make an effort to schedule them at times that work for you. Need medications on time? Too bad, you'll get them whenever they feel like because they've decided you don't care since you're busy with a sick child, who in turn had surgery, and missed some appointments so they will mismanage your children's medication. It feels very much like being punished, and it's affecting the children's stability. There's no understanding here of reality, just a rigidity in their way of handling things that leaves the patients without care. Every issue is a phone tag disaster. They'd rather you lose your job and dedicate your life to their appointments than work with a parent. If you experience a major life change, they will not acknowledge this, they will put *more* pressure on you and be even less willing to do anything different than what you were doing prior to said life change. The doctor most of us see is very kind, but consistently late to appointments, which has caused us to miss several because they were scheduled in a window of time that was too strict to accommodate lateness. All around, it's been a rough experience here. The good they've done is grandly overtaken by the chaotic management of appointments and medications.
