I never feel rushed through my appointments, they actually listen to what I have to say and answer any questions I have. I always leave feeling heard and helped. Any time I miss an appointment they get me in the next day or sometimes later that same day, and they’re really understanding when that happens, I’ve never had an issue with scheduling. Although the schedule is demanding they have a way of making seem that it is not over bearing ... They changed and saved my life and I know the staff can do the same for you if you want it ... The entire team at Selah House is kind, compassionate, and committed to evidence-based practices. I have a great deal of trust in this team and feel confident referring clients to them. They are a wonderful partner in the care of those we serve. Christine E 1 month ago Entering rehab for the first time at 67 years of age was terrifying, simply because I didn't know what to expect. My journey with an eating disorder began when I was just 13 years old, and looking back, it has been a long road. After a health scare in September of 2024 served as a wake-up call, I reached out to a family member who had been down the same path. She recommended a counselor who had also struggled with an eating disorder as a teenager. Initially, I didn't think I had a problem. I was perfectly content with my body size, even though everyone around me kept saying how thin I was. I eventually found a dietitian, and though she and my counselor worked tirelessly with me, I wasn't ready to listen or follow their guidance. Finally, in April of 2025, I realized I needed inpatient help. Because I wanted a faith-based facility, they recommended Selah House. I flew to Anderson, Indiana, incredibly anxious about the unknown. However, the moment I stepped inside the house, I felt at home. The staff welcomed me with open arms and truly understood my journey. The facility itself is beautiful. I especially loved Marcy (who did equine therapy), Jordan (my dietitian), and Amy (my therapist). While there are too many incredible staff members to name, they all made an impact. I even grew to love art therapy! The sessions were incredibly helpful, and I loved that we went on outings and attended church on Sundays. At this graduation, the valedictorian's name was Henry. He read a speech to the members in the audience and after his speech, he read a break up letter to the drug that had him in bondage for so many years. In this letter he reminisced on the good times they experienced, the great times with the women and the important life events he missed while being under the influence of this drug. The saying "all good things, must come to an end" was evident while he read this letter to the crowd. Henry decided that Harbor Light Center was going to be his home to assist him with obtaining and maintaining his sobriety. He thanked the caring and loving staff for they way they made him well welcomed on his first day. The Harbor Light Center is the truly place for New Beginnings, and I was honored to witness that Henry and the rest of his graduating class achieved their New Beginning at The Harbor Light Center. I’ve been out for almost a year now but wow. When I was there most of the staff did nothing, please don’t ever send your kids here. There is so much violence. And sure it helps some, but most of the kids I was in there with hated it. And so did I, there was a few good staff, and therapists, but very few. Most of the staff got fired or quit, so they got new ones. I still talk to some people from here, and we still talk about our bad memories there, and the stuff that most people like the staff didn’t even know about. They really need to do a better job. Some of the supervisors were amazing, but others weren’t. Oh and some staff like taking their anger out on kids, not physically, but they purposely try to get kids upset, and some of them choose favorites most definitely. Jade? From the facilitators (Kennedy, Joy, Cat, Rose) program (Jake from state farm) and clinical (Madelyn) director to the techs, (Reagen the stallion, Jamie, Ashley, Naomi, & Jamie #2) case managers (Mr. Brady, Kolby) and therapist (Taylor gang, G-reg, Courtney, Stephanie) every person I interacted with genuinely contributed to such a positive and high-quality treatment experience. I felt supported, heard, and cared for throughout my time there. The women’s house was absolutely amazing. It was clean, comfortable, and felt like a safe place to come home to after a difficult day. One thing that really stood out to me was that many of the techs are also in recovery themselves. The lead techs, Carla, Cece, and Theresa made such a difference for me because there was a level of understanding and relatability that made the environment feel more like home. I never felt judged or like I had to explain myself to someone who couldn’t understand what I was going through. The outreach coordinator (Jay) was also incredible. Every two weeks, he would come to the house and bring restaurant food for everyone, which was such a thoughtful touch and gave us something to look forward to. More importantly, he made an effort to build genuine relationships with us while we were in the program. Because of that, reaching out for support after leaving didn’t feel awkward or uncomfortable—I already had a relationship and felt comfortable contacting him when I needed help. Overall, this program gave me so much more than treatment. It gave me a sense of community, accountability, support, and connection. I am incredibly grateful for the people who poured into me during my time there and helped make what can be an incredibly difficult chapter feel a little less overwhelming. It took me two tries- no fault of the facility, whose loving kindness is what brought me out of the maelstrom of alcohol addiction, and I am affronted by the poor reviews I see. The staff was entirely attentive to every detail of my recovery and needs throughout. The entire staff is commendable. The experience was life changing for me. I cannot give them enough credit. I am happier with the decision I made to return to the Anderson Center than with any other decision I have made in my entire life. Period. I am so happy to be sober, it amazes me minute by minute, second by second. Every moment is amazing now. I owe it to the care of the team, but I owed it to myself.
