I had a great experience with Better Life md, the whole process was very simple! I really liked the provider, and the rest of the staff were very nice and helpful. I met Dr. O today, he was so nice and informative, he does an incredible job of explaining things, and he truly cares. I can see that in people, and he is a dr that really cares about patients he cares for. It’s rare this day and age, and I really respect that, I am really happy I made the switch to Dr. O’s office. My daughter passed away and I became extremely depressed. I currently see Dr.Gupta he has helped me tremendously! I'm still going through grief but atleast I feel like there is hope for better days ahead . Great nursing staff and the receptionist does a good job. I heard about this facility from a friend and I decided to give it a try. The program works really well if you put in the work. The food is great and the staff hold you accountable, the facility could be a little bit cleaner but with one cleaning lady who puts in a lot of work what do you expect.This facility makes you feel like you will be ready to get out there on your own and succeed on your recovery journey.

I can't stand the negative reviews. YES I WAS THERE. Six months ago, I almost didn't stay but I did. Such incredible staff and an incredible program. Met some of the greatest people to ever want to change their life around. Residential was amazing. PHP also an incredible program attended both with full support from all staff and peers. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND RECOVERY WORKS TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BETTER THEMSELVES.

I went here about 6 years ago. I don't know if the Staffing is the same at this time as I haven't been in touch with them since then. In November I'll be 6 years clean. Let me just say I was a patient at Medmark for years and above everything no matter what because they open at 4:45 AM says it all. They generally want to meet everyday people’s needs to live a normal life.In and out the door before 5am to do what you need to do w your life. Try and find another clinic that does that for you. You won’t. Working men and women this your clinic. Just no weed. Sorry.

I do not typically do these reviews however I felt very strongly I needed to. I have been in the program for over 7 years. The program honestly saved my life after trying several other things. My addiction became like most had back problems and my doctors were very free to prescribe the opioids and benzodiazepines. Xanax was actually the worst for me hospitalized for over 10 days due to all the seizures. Anyways the nurses Yolanda Jackie Val are sweethearts and have never judged me once. Yolanda is the one person who always tells me she is proud of me I don’t even hear that from family. Kim who runs front desk is also great. In my experience I have had around 6 counselors and sorry to say this is the downfall here. I don’t know if they are overworked micromanaged or just don’t care but I have had to go elsewhere for my counseling. I have promise for my new counselor April who is new to this location. Since starting she has been on top on my case not letting anything slide. She gets accomplished what the 5 others took months to do and I appreciate that. Non judgmental follow-up and just caring she accomplishes where most can’t and this is what keeps me clean and alive and I thank her for that more than I can say. Doctor is a different story for a different day I will just say to the women ask that a third person be in the room. That’s all!

After completing inpatient rehabilitation, I transitioned into the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at Parkdale Center and I can say with my whole heart that it was one of the most life-changing and soul-healing experiences I’ve ever had. Parkdale didn’t just help me continue my recovery, they helped me to continue to find myself again. They believed in me, held space for my pain, and gave me the tools and encouragement to continue to rise stronger than I ever thought possible. From the leadership to the support staff, everyone at Parkdale exudes compassion, professionalism, and a deep commitment to healing. But what makes Parkdale truly exceptional are people like Rigo and Claudia. They treated me not like a number or a case, but like family. There was zero judgment, only humility, kindness, and an unwavering belief in my potential. Rigo felt like a steady big brother, firm when needed, but always full of heart. Claudia radiates warmth and made me feel safe, seen, and cared for in a way that felt almost sacred. These two, and so many others at Parkdale (like Dr. Chris, Denise, Ty, David) restored my faith in people and reminded me that recovery is possible when you’re surrounded by those who genuinely care. Parkdale is the best at what they do because they combine clinical excellence with human connection. Having used their facilities for our Union members and for a family member, the counselors are caring, responsive, and communicate very well on a treatment plan and objectives & goals. Ms Tori awesome!!!!! The group meetings and accountability for each other in treatment works in a great atmosphere. I would strongly recommend this facility if a friend, co-worker, and family members are in need of help with addictions and/or mental health. It is located in chesterton nearby for visitation purposes.

I’ve never written a review like this before, but Belinda at Regional Health absolutely deserves it. She is, without exaggeration, the sweetest and most genuinely caring person I have ever dealt with at any establishment. I’ve never even met her in person, yet she has treated me with more kindness, consistency, and dedication than most people you meet face-to-face. Belinda goes above and beyond in every way. She helped me find an amazing doctor, made sure my medications were taken care of, and anytime she said she would do something, I knew for a fact it would get done. No doubts. No chasing. No stress. There were days she even made late calls just to make sure everything was handled for me, then followed up to confirm things went smoothly. It’s rare to find someone in healthcare who brings this level of compassion and follow-through. She has made my life a million times easier, and I’m genuinely grateful for her. 12 Aug 2026 - I want to thank the security guard, on early evening duty, for his hospitality and understanding. We were traveling cross country through Gary, IN and pulled off to get gasoline. We were not aware that tornadoes had devastated the area and the gas stations were closed. We really needed to use the restrooms and the security guard kindly pointed us towards the restrooms. THANK YOU! We understand the inconvenience of such storms. We lost power in our area for a week after a hurricane came through our area in a different state. Praying for your speedy recovery. 🙏

I’ve seen some of the negative reviews here, and I wanted to share a different perspective. This is difficult work. The staff often meet people on some of the hardest days of their lives, and those situations aren’t always easy. I’ve personally seen staff deal with some incredibly difficult circumstances, and I’ve been impressed by the patience, kindness, and professionalism they show. Are things always perfect? Of course not. But there are a lot of really good people here who care about what they do and genuinely want to help. I think that deserves to be said, too.

When I watched an online video of my son Terrance getting his brains obliterated and having the remaining chunks of his face slamming into the dirt I never thought I'd get over with it. Now I'm not gonna lie, I didn't. I still have nightmares of him asking for help trying to communicate with his face half-missing. But at least thanks to Edgewater Health, Dr. Lipschitz helped me get a bi-weekly supply of Zoloft and Oxycotton. We gettin' LIT. I couldn't be more thankful even if I tried to Midwest for everything they did for my child. Always informed of how things were going. Some of the issues we had there weren't caused by staff but by other residents. The staff did what they could to keep everything at peace and help them use the skills they've been taught at the facility. I'm extremely thankful for the nurses and Meghan her therapist. Everyone we dealt with from front desk to the Doctor was amazing. Reading the reviews prior to admission I was absolutely terrified and hesitant, now I'm eternally grateful for Midwest.

As a parent currently navigating the incredibly difficult and emotional experience of having a child in inpatient behavioral treatment, I wanted to share a more balanced perspective regarding Midwest. Like many parents, I read the reviews before my son arrived and was absolutely terrified. While no facility is perfect, and this type of environment is extremely intense and constantly evolving, our experience so far has included several staff members whose passion, compassion, and dedication deserve recognition. Jasmine has been absolutely incredible. Her ability to balance the emotional needs of the patients while also managing staff and unit dynamics is something I genuinely admire. She listens, communicates honestly, remains calm under pressure, and approaches these kids with both accountability and compassion. Angie has such a calming and compassionate presence. You can genuinely feel that she cares deeply about the kids and the work she is doing. Cece has years of experience and taps into her mothering nature to provide a stable environment, often at the cost of the patients giving her flack for her consistency. She is a kind soul who has clearly dedicated herself to this type of work. Mama D has shown so much affection, concern, and dedication toward these boys. In an environment where many of these kids are struggling emotionally and behaviorally, that warmth matters more than people realize. Jamar has also stood out to me because of the stability and consistency he brings to the unit. At the same time, he still seems to understand that these are teenagers who occasionally need moments of laughter, flexibility, and normalcy within appropriate boundaries. Communication has been open throughout this process, although not always perfectly consistent, which honestly should be expected in a setting where staff are constantly navigating changing emotional, behavioral, and safety situations involving multiple adolescents at once. As a parent, this has been one of the hardest experiences of my life. But I also recognize how emotionally demanding this work is for the people caring for these kids every day. I simply wanted to acknowledge the staff members who have made a meaningful difference for our family during an incredibly difficult time. I will update this review once we have completed treatment there, but going on week four, I am very thankful that we ended up choosing Midwest. My son is always clean, has not complained about the facilities or the food, and he is a very picky eater. Yes, some of these reviews probably have some basis, especially those written by former patients. These kids are navigating very difficult emotions and issues in a world that I often find difficult to navigate even as an adult. There is no doubt in my mind that each of these kids is going to have a different experience and perspective while there and post-treatment. It is very much a situation where outcomes depend partly on whether the child is emotionally able and willing to engage in the work of treatment. Many are navigating medication changes, new diagnoses, changing home environments, and hormones all at the same time. It is a lot. I also wanted to add that our son brought up an issue with a staff member to us, and at first we took it with a grain of salt. After additional conversations, we began to believe there was merit to some of his concerns regarding this staff member. Jasmine handled this situation maturely and appropriately while balancing all sides of it. While I could understand my son's perspective, I have also grown to have deep care and concern for our mental health workers. This staff member is likely in need of a break from the unit she has been on for a lengthy amount of time, and this was addressed immediately before it spiraled into something bigger. So, if you're where we were a month ago, I get it. Take some deep, deep breaths, and make a call to Midwest and talk through your concerns. I think you will find that they are a very transparent behavioral health center that is constantly striving to improve.

Andrea Farmer has cared for me the past 6 years, and she's absolutely amazing! She is so caring and compassionate about helping me. I've been inpatient as well. The facility is clean, and the staff was wonderful. I highly recommend their services, especially after being inpatient at Neuro Behavioral Hospital in Crown Point. It was an absolute ghetto nightmare there, for lack of better words. If you or a loved one suffer with mental health issues, reach out to Porter Starke. Usually the first initial visit takes a bit to get in, but after that it's easy to make routine appointments.

We took my daughter for a risk assessment and I was pleasantly surprised by our experience (based off reputation and previous experience). Mario checked us in, was very welcoming and gentle, explained the process and really took the time my daughter deserved for someone to hear her. He explained things in an age appropriate way, gave strategies or idea of support, and walked us through what to expect. He asked my daughter questions that dug deeper in what she meant and didn't take her answer for surface value which I appreciated. He did not lead her, but asked her to explain and when she didn't understand, he explained in a different way. He was genuinely happy to be there, didn't miserable which made us comfortable to open up more. I cannot speak for anyone else, but Mario really did a great job!

Over the days that the power was off the staff at Semeron/New Season did an outstanding job. They did thier best during an extremly difficult time. They went above and beyond to accommodate us patients the best they could. The only thing I would say that needs to be addressed is that they had to rent a generator because there's not one already provided for them. The amount of storms we have in NWI,it has happened before and will definitely happen again. The staff and patients deserve to know they'll have a clinic to come to everyday to continue our recovery journey.

Give honor doom honor is due. Guys there is a nurse here who is absolutely an angel and needs to be recognized. Her name is Anita Opcampo She is a nurse here in South Shore. She’s Filipino. I need a letter of recognition to be sent to the hospital about her. From the first day that I came here, she was not even my nurse and she reached out for my comfort to be sure I had a private room my medication, my food, everything. Despite her busy schedule, she still tended my every need. She saw me. She kicked patient care in the behind and this something that should be acknowledged. I am so very grateful for her kindness.

Just finished my exit interview after a state mandated probation restriction and I can say I wish i started it sooner than I did. Julian and the entire staff are there to help anyone willing to enter (or forced in my case) a recovery program with open arms. Sure, it costs money and it's not a RESORT type program (anyone that has seen the movie 28 days knows what i mean).. but the therapy is very helpful and worthwhile if you're either struggling... or in my case... BUSTED doing something stupid. The understanding that people make mistakes is first and foremost... the encouragement for self help is right there... and the personal attention via 1 on 1 is great. The group sessions were relaxed and often entertaining.... sharing stories of mistakes and triumphs... goofy occurances and others in the group lovingly joking about why and how we ended up there..... whether by choice or law.... They're highly resourceful for any additional help someone might feel the need to reach for as well. As strange as it may sound.... i'm kinda gonna miss going in. If you feel like you're struggling with addiction... maybe problems at home... maybe the loss of a loved one... or anything... i seriously can't recommend them highly enough. Thanks again Julian, and the entire staff at Fresh Start Hammond!
