Battle Creek, MI | The Battle Creek VA Medical Center in Battle Creek, Michigan is a beautiful campus situated in a rural setting just east of Lake Michigan. I want to take a moment to recognize the team at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center.
Over the past year I decided to start using the VA for my healthcare. Like many veterans, I had heard different stories over the years, but my personal experience has been outstanding.
From the very first appointment the process was smooth and professional. I was called in at the exact time my appointment was scheduled. A nurse came in within a couple minutes and walked me through how the VA system works and the services available. Shortly after that my doctor came in, reviewed my medical history, and immediately started coordinating follow up care. I have had several knee surgeries over the years, so we scheduled MRIs to take a closer look.
What really stood out was how efficient everything was even before the appointment. The VA had already scheduled my blood work and knee X rays. I walked into the Battle Creek facility, signed in for blood work, waited about three minutes, and the nurse took care of everything in less than ten minutes. Then I walked down the hall for my X rays. Again, the entire process took less than ten minutes. Professional, friendly, and very efficient.
After my appointment they also scheduled a vision exam. That experience was just as smooth. Any medications I needed were mailed to my house within days, and my glasses arrived within a couple weeks.
The entire experience has been excellent, and I truly appreciate the people who make it happen every day. The team at the Battle Creek VA has been fantastic.
Veterans deserve great care, and my experience here has shown me that there are people working hard every day to deliver it.
Thank you to the Battle Creek VA team.

The new management in the facility and the personality of therapists and security are the best parts of this program. The contracts that the state writes with the KPEP facilities is almost enough to make you want to commit suicide. Underfunded and given very little permission to actually make improvements to the place makes creating positive changes in this place almost impossible. Despite all of this positive things do happen and I would credit this to the new management and the personality of the therapists and security who in my opinion entered the job for the correct reason.

Where to begin, after 20 years of heavy drinking with never a single thought of treatment, I decided it was time, I didnt know what to expect, what I DID know, is I was there to better myself, get sober and live my best life for myself, & my loved ones. I embraced every single moment and made it my mission. I went in 4/4/26 broken, and on the verge of killing myself with alcohol, I left on 5/4/26 KNOWING I was going home to succeed in my sobriety and LIVE again. The therapist my daughter saw at the Portage location was wonderful. Billing was always an issue - they would say we owed money, so we would pay it, then they could contact us and process a refund because we "overpaid". Otherwise, we were very pleased. However I have been trying to reach them for a week now. Website says they are available 24/7 - however I have called EVERY number on their website repeatedly, as well as the number the "owner" provided in these comments, and there is never an answer or option to leave a message. I also submitted an appointment request form through their website and have not received a response. Not sure what is going on here. UPDATE: apparently this is a cell phone issue - NOT pine rest. Despite using my phone daily and having no issues making calls, for whatever reason, I had to put my cell phone on then off airplane mode and suddenly I was able to make calls to them. Updated my review to correct for this.

Michigan is ranked 13th nationwide in terms of addiction treatment affordability, with an average cost of addiction treatment of $56,508.
The costs of drug and alcohol rehab in Michigan vary widely and depend on several factors, including:
The costs of addiction treatment listed for cities and states are averages based on the cost of the treatment types listed above. These averages are high due to the cost of medical detoxification and residential inpatient rehab programs.
These numbers also reflect the raw cost of drug rehab, before any insurance coverage. The typical individual seeking addiction treatment can expect to pay much less for outpatient or intensive outpatient services than the averages listed below.
There are many ways to pay for drug rehab in Michigan. Most treatment centers accept cash or self-payment, as well as private health insurance. However, there are many treatment centers in Michigan that accept Medicaid and Medicare, or offer sliding scale payments or other low-cost payment options. Here’s the complete breakdown of how to pay for addiction treatment in Michigan.
Blue Cross Blue Shield is the most widely-accepted insurance for drug rehabs in Michigan, with 172 treatment centers in the state accepting their insurance. UnitedHealth Group is the 2nd most popular with 159 treatment centers accepting it followed by Aetna in 3rd accepted by 155 drug rehabs.
