About The Haven Of Rest Women’s Life Recovery Program

The birthplace of the cereal industry, Battle Creek, Michigan also features The Haven Of Rest Women’s Life Recovery Program. Established in 1956, The Haven Of Rest spreads the gospel message while providing temporary shelter and meals for people experiencing homelessness and other life challenges. This program offers a safe space for women and mothers to step away from obstacles and hone in on addiction recovery.

Holistic Approaches to Healing

You can participate in their program for six to 12 months. Throughout care, you’ll learn to overcome substance abuse and other hurdles while strengthening family relationships.

They provide a whole person approach focused on physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual healing. You can participate in individual and group therapy, spiritual counseling, physical fitness training, community resource referrals, and more.

Supportive Programs for Every Childhood Stage

What stands out most to me is their children’s ministry. Your child can participate in nourishing activities as you complete counseling and life skills sessions. They provide a range of exercises for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school aged children.

Of these activities, their Gain Access Program really caught my eye. This track for K-12 kids offers homework assistance, life skills classes, faith-based lessons, social skills building, personalized case management, and more. Your child will benefit from a supportive environment with guidance tailored to their unique needs.

Committed to Your Success

Many former clients enjoyed their services. Most mentioned a compassionate staff with beneficial approaches that helped them turn their lives around. Recovery is a unique experience. Be sure to research and consider multiple treatment centers to find the best fit.

You're good here if you're in a program. Otherwise, you're out of luck in the men's shelter. It is not an environment conducive to recovery at all. There are drugs, alcohol, alcohol consumption, pills, and pill sales, and individuals struggling with intoxication and untreated mental illness are left in the common areas to disturb others. The staff can be self-serving, favoritism is shown to certain individuals, and no credit is given to the few who actually do the chores. It is not Christ-centered as they profess.

This review highlights several problems that exist in the homeless population, namely mental health challenges and substance abuse, including alcohol. The Haven is not the sobriety police, and residents are not overseen when they are off Haven property. Many walk across the street and use, either drugs or alcohol, and then come back to the Haven's shelters. Sobriety is a challenge in this environment.

For this particular individual giving us a one-star rating, who has stayed with us many times, there were no problems until he was asked to leave for damaging / destroying his bunkmate's phone, and yes, we have the video of that. We'd also give this person a one-star review for being Christ-centered, were we in that business. We hope you find the help you are looking for, and have a better time in the future.

This is a good place to be at if you need a temporary home the staff are welcoming and do care for the people. They actually do have help if needed. They serve meals and have a shower.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
