Sacred Heart started me on my recovery journey giving me the tools I needed to get sober and stay sober. I hit my 90 days sober in about 2 weeks, and I couldn t be more happy or proud. I m so, so, so grateful for what Sacred Heart did for me. Shout out to staff Leslie, Trish, Jessica, Tom, Johnny, Margaret, Joe and Tom#2, Elizabeth, nurses Jane and Jim.. the therapists are amazing (all of them except Maria, she s awful) the peer recovery coaches are amazing, love the nursing staff, y all took good care of us. A very good place to receive low-cost mental healthcare.If you need help, I can honestly urge you to give them a chance. You deserve the chance.I'm pleased to say that there has been many good changes at Oaklawn. I've been going here off and on in the 40+ years since I was in high school (back when it was known as Madison Center), and 99% of the psychiatrists and counselors have always been very good. Though they are not immune from their own confirmation bias. Unfortunately, even though I like most of them, frontline staff has been in the past unsympathetic and cruel.When you're mentally ill, specifically having Major Depressive Disorder, doing anything at all can seem like an impossible task. Just getting out of bed can be terrifying and seem to have no point. And after you had to fight yourself and the world to get there, being required to fight for yourself and the respect everyone deserves, in a place where they're supposed to be there to help people with mental illnesses, is really not just inappropriate but unforgivable. Fortunately, management is approachable, and will listen. At least they have to me, and have thanked me for bringing certain issues to their attention. Even writing me a letter a week or so after we spoke.I don't work there, and I only know the things that I've seen and experienced firsthand, but it seems like a much friendlier place to work, less sterile. Which I'm sure positively affects the frontline staffs attitudes. And though frontline staff can seem clickish, and move to defend themselves as a group when one is criticized by a patient, say by gaslighting that patient, management is aware that that is inappropriate.In the 5 years since my previous review, I only recall one single negative experience.================Older Review from 2020:A decent place for low cost psychiatric care. But the front desk staff in the Physicians floor can be extraordinary rude and unsympathetic. Especially if you mention any displeasure with Oaklawn's rules, they seem to take it as a personal insult, and really need to get a job outside of psychiatric care, because they are not suited for it. They are also discouraging when you come to make an appointment, or pick up patient assistance medications, Etc. They often don't know what they're talking about, so don't let them discourage you from what you're trying to do and insist that they pass on messages to the people and doctors you are trying to contact.

I Absolutely love and Appreciate this place for everything and Every single person they help every day. But You can only help someone as long as they want to help themselves. I am a huge Advocate for this place and all the resources it has to offer. And if you don't like this place. That's okay you don't have to go. But just know. They will be right there to help when you finally realize. Hey maybe I am the common denominator in all my problems. Oaklawn is amazing & they do help with all kinds of things. But they don't just hand it out. You gotta show them you want to help yourself. They have been my biggest support for more than 10 years now. And In my life for 15+. 5 months ago I was in A VERY BAD PLACE Emotionally spiritually, and using my sobriety quickly due to mini physical surgeries since 2016 I ve been forced to use opioids due to the levels of pain that are unmanageable I no longer use any opioid through Harbortown clinic I ve been able to beat my addiction, using methadone as a tool and the counseling has given me the quality of life that I thought was a possible anymore. Pure serious about being healthy feeling good about yourself. This is a place to start. This is the help you need. I m thankful for it every day.

Harbortown treatment center has been a blessing to me. If you are a family member is struggling with addiction do research, Treatment is treatment with that you have appointments counseling it s all part of treatment. I wouldn t be where I am if it weren t for coming to treatment, I m sober,I only go once a week to get my dose then the six day s I get take homes for being clean in drug screen. Again do research there s a few other programs now not just methadone, At the time I needed help with addiction this was it or rehab, Harbortown treatment center changed my life I m alive sober, Everyone in my circle has passed away from addiction, I went into treatment wanting the help wanting help, this will work if you work it and are serious about help, staff is Awesome! Not a place to meet friends or a partner focus on sobriety! You got this ! I also appreciate Michelle she s been amazing she s straight forward and addicts need straight forward! As of this writing I have a years experience with this location and program so will try and clarify things a bit. An important thing to understand is that each house is independent and ran by the current residents under guidelines set forth by its area chapter which in turn is governed by the state chapter then national program. Each house is run democratically by its residents with a persons power being in their vote. I feel most of the negative reviews I've heard are from those who relapsed or who routinely or egregiously violated rules and were kicked out. The only violations that allow for immediate expulsion are relapse, violence, or those of a potentially criminal nature. This program is not a good fit for everyone as it is more of a peer supported independent living type situation. It is not as rigidly governed as many halfway houses and is better suited for those comfortable in recovery and capable of living independently but still desiring some structure and guidance. As for Emyla specifically I would say it is a great location. It is near downtown with Leeper Park and the river nearly next door. The residents tend to be easy going and get along well. The house is big with 3 full baths, 3 kitchens, and 2 living rooms. It is worth looking into the place to see if it is for you but remember it is not for everyone.

If you're ready for change, this is the place for you. Even though I was court ordered I quickly realized this place has been helpful. In my case I'm learning more than just helpful tips to avoid the charge that brought me here. I wish I would've known about this place years ago. For me C.P.R. has been organized with my paperwork. They have been friendly, and personal, and a lot of the people I've met here I've enjoyed the friendship. I've seen people come here that clearly aren't ready to change, and they don't. They have bad attitudes the whole time, and they're rude to staff. It's sad, but you can't change anyone, you can provide them helpful tools though. The best part of this place? It's open to the public. If I'm still in the area I plan on continuing coming to the classes once my ordered classes are done.

I just got off the phone with Kathy from Riverwood Center and WOW! I don't know where to begin. We have been desperate for help and finally got a direction to get the help we needed for our family. Staff goes out of their way to respond to parent concerns quickly and thoroughly. Having a child in a residential treatment facility is stressful for the entire family, and they were able to arrange a time to speak with me and allay my worries.I would like to see more information in their parent handbook as to what the residents daily routine looks like, the rules and the consequences. This would go a long way in easing parents concerns.
