GO SOMEWHERE ELSE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!ER was absolutely terrible. Went to the ER window nobody to intake someone with a real Emergency. Had to wait in line with respiratory distress. Waiting for 15mins and my condition is ADR aka aint doing right . Got past registration. And was triaged buy a nurse who completely ignored my complaint and WROTE ON MY PROFILE WHAT HER DIAGNOSIS WAS WHICH WAS nasal congestion . I told her respiratory distress i can t breathe regardless of which hole it was coming in or out of. She ignored me and was probably the reason it took me so long to get treated. Sat in the waiting area for an hour feeling light headed and worse. Nobody cared! Had my family step in. The nurse told us to go back to registration. Me being worse the woman at the desk told us to stand in line. WHICH I CAN T stand anymore as there is barely any oxygen coming into me. So I'm weak. I can t defend and speak up cause I m weak. It was super frustrating and I was really scared cause I wasn t getting serviced and I'm feeling worse. Finally went to express ER waiting area. The nurses there were helpful. Unlike the front. And got me the treatment that i needed. I WAS THERE FOR 6hrs. Half of that spent waiting to even be seen!!! Do not waste your time, money, or insurance. Go somewhere else!!!!

I made an appointment woke in advance. I was there on time. The neurology department was my destination. The staff checked me in. I waited 2 hours and left. There's no running water in the only bathroom. There's unprofessional work environment, and it's generally old and dirty. Please do not go to this hospital.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehabs provide a space for clients to focus exclusively on their recovery while receiving intensive supervision and support. Inpatient treatment centers provide housing and food and most offer round-the-clock clinical care. Their primary treatment modalities typically consist of addiction counseling using various psychotherapeutic methods, including CBT, DBT, RBT, and motivational interviewing. Many rehabs also provide specialized services for clients with co-occurring addiction and mental illness. Recovery-focused life skills training and holistic therapies are other common services.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

I've been a patient at this hospital from 05/30/2025 to 06/05/2025 and am very happy to share my experience. From the time I was admitted to 9Tele (922A),I've been treated well by every person who had the responsibility of administering care. The staff were all patient and dedicated in their specific roles especially when I was experiencing any discomfort or needed psychological reassurance. I will use this forum to give a shoutout to RNs Isaacs, Beckford,Garrett, PCTs Williams, Antoine,Samantha, just to name a few,the ladies in the Cath Lab, RN Jahalal, you guys are phenomenal . Not forgetting those who ensured I got my meals and those who kept my room tidy by sweeping and mopping. You guys have made my stay a pleasant one and I will offer words of prayers for your continued patience, tolerance and strength especially when you're faced with challenges. Kudos to you all and thanks a million......Penelope Richards.

I recently had a mammogram at Brookdale Hospital and my results required a follow-up sonogram, i was stress and indecisive so didn’t want to be bothered with it as weeks passed by i had received a tons of letters and phone calls remind me of the follow up. I then finally went to get it done. I truly appreciated how supportive and professional the staff were throughout the process. Understandably, I was nervous and scared, but the team was quick to follow up, kept me informed, and made sure everything was handled promptly. Their kindness, attention to detail, and calm demeanor made a stressful situation much easier to cope with. I’m grateful for the care I received and the way they made me feel seen and supported. Thank you to the amazing staff—they truly make a difference.

Garbage staff, garbage service. They can’t transfer a sick woman from the ER to the ICU in OVER 24 HOURS. And when her son called they put him on hold then hung up on him. Oh and they can’t transfer her to a better hospital because “they don’t have the resources.” So only go to this hospital if you need immediate care, if not, go to a hospital that’s actually competent.

When given a choice for where you receive treatment, choose any other Hospital, clinic, or Animal Hospital before choosing Brookdale.

Immediately attended my family member. They were waiting for us from ambulance. Doctors keep informing me ..update very often and call me. Clean..not like years ago when it was filthy. Everyone so far has been great and it is pleasant and clean

Everyone who treated my brother for his entire two-week stay, you are all amazing! and it shows how much care you give and the pride you take in your work. Thank you for doing what you do every single day and for taking such good care of my brother.

If you don't care about your loved one, send them to Brookdale. The worst hospital in Brooklyn NY. Father has been here for 35 days and we get.the run around and over-talking with bullshit. They don't clean up the patients in a timely manner which is probably why they get infections. I hate this place as I believe they killed my mom who was in the ER for 13 days.

ER staff should be fired and replaced with people that know how to treat an ill patient. The operator is also a piece of work. If the city is paying for this place, our tax dollars are going to waste. Your loved ones will suffer and not get help for HOURS! People don't ask to be transported via ambulance to the nearest hospital so they can sit in their dirty facility without attention for hours. SHAME ON YOU
