About Crossroads
Carlsbad Mental Health Association – Crossroads in Carlsbad, New Mexico is a closed treatment facility that provided long term residential treatment programs for women and children. They offered 60, 90, and 120 day programming for intensive inpatient treatment. Services were provided on a sliding scale basis and were free for those who could not afford services.
A Unique Recovery Model
Crossroads was a unique facility in New Mexico. The team here allowed residents to bring up to two children as long as they were 10 years old or younger. They took a holistic approach to recovery and family life, addressing the realistic topics of parenting, career paths, life skills, and community orientation to help women understand how to re-integrate back into society.
They also discussed how to live a life free from drugs, and ways to cope with life’s stressors in a calmer and more healthy manner.
Strategic Partnerships
Crossroads worked hard to build strategic, supportive relationships with various service providers across the state. Their goal was to help serve the unique needs that the women in their care faced on a daily basis.
Addiction Treatments
Treatments
The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.
Each drug rehab in New Mexico offers unique amenities and treatment methods. Common aspects of treatment include group and individual counseling, recreational therapy, medication management, and healthy living. Aftercare is often provided to prevent relapse.
Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.
Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
