About Diversus Health Jet Wing Counseling, Psychiatric, & Addiction Center

The Jet Wing Behavioral Center, operated by Diversus, is an outpatient facility that provides behavioral health services to adults and adolescents in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Clients can receive addiction counseling and psychiatric therapy to help with treating substance use disorder. The facility works with a majority of insurances including Medicaid.

Counseling From Trained and Licensed Providers

The counselors who will help you with your recovery are trained and licensed to treat addiction issues. Clients will be provided nonjudgmental care that focuses on achieving treatment goals that guide you toward sobriety. Before beginning counseling, you’ll undergo an evaluation that will determine what type of treatment will be best for you.

Your counselor can use a variety of therapeutic approaches to facilitate healing. Some approaches they might use are motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy. Motivational interviewing can be useful in strengthening your commitment and motivation to reach your goal of living a substance-free lifestyle.

Psychiatric Therapy For Healing Mental Illness

Mental illness can sometimes be a cause of addiction and may not always respond to talk therapy alone. The psychiatric professionals on staff can evaluate you to see if medication might be useful for managing your symptoms. They will monitor your progress and adjust your dosage accordingly.

As you progress in your treatment, a good step you can take in your recovery is finding healthy hobbies to do in the Colorado Springs area. A popular place you can visit is Bear Creek Regional Park East. It has 10 miles of trails and you can enjoy the relaxing sight of the foothills.

I am absolutely stunned by the way I was treated during my first DUI Level 2 class appointment at Diversus Health's Jet Wing location. I arrived at the check-in desk at 6:08 PM, and was told I could not attend because “you have to be here by 6:08.” It had just turned 6:09 PM, and I was denied access entirely even though I was present, polite, and clearly trying to meet my legal obligation. While sitting in the waiting area trying to figure out what to do next, I witnessed something that made this even more frustrating. At exactly 6:15 PM, another individual came in to check in for the same class I had just been denied entry to. Instead of turning her away, the front desk staff willingly contacted her provider and sent a message on her behalf so she wouldn’t miss the class. When I politely asked the same staff member to extend the same courtesy to me to simply send a message to my provider noting I had checked in at 6:09 PM I was told, “It’s now 6:17. I can’t send any more messages after 6:15, the providers shut their computers down.” This is completely unacceptable. I was present, I was respectful, and I was only one minute past the supposed cutoff time yet someone arriving even later was offered help and accommodations. The clear inconsistency in how people are treated raises serious concerns about fairness and professionalism. This isn’t just about missing a class my freedom and future depend on completing this program. Being turned away over a single minute, while someone else is helped at 6:15, is not only inconsistent it’s harmful. Diversus Health needs to seriously reevaluate its front desk policies and staff training. This kind of treatment is wrong on so many levels, especially for people who are trying to do the right thing and comply with legal obligations. I also have it all recorded on video.

TLDR: Just go somewhere else. You'll be insulted, disrespected, and not listened to here. If you're Trans you'll be dead named and misgendered as the staff laugh/snicker then "correct" themselves. Especially the receptionists. Along with being deadnamed and misgendered by your therapist 3 months into your sessions. Tell a story about one of your abusers being called a retard by a family member to get yelled at and receive a 10 minute lecture (out of a 45 minute session) about how "that's a bad word" but nothing about anything how the abuser's actions were wrong or unjustified. Tell your therapist that you suspect that you have a possibility of a diagnosis you'll be told "No that's not possible. You're not educated to make that kind of decision." to be told a few months down the road "Yeah you meet the criteria for the thing you said you think you have and you're gonna be passed off to a different therapist who specializes in thst area." So to summarize if you're Trans you'll be disrespected, say a slur that your abusers was called by someone else the therapist will preach how wrong you are for repeating that word, and if you don't have a degree that requires more schooling than your therapist you'll be told how stupid you are for suggesting something about yourself just to be told you're right.

Accepted Insurance

Diversus Health Jet Wing Counseling, Psychiatric, & Addiction Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

The process of medically assisted detox usually takes place in an inpatient setting while under the 24/7 care of a team of licensed medical professionals. It's considered the safest way to rid the body of all addictive substances and prepare you for a transition into either an inpatient program or various forms of outpatient rehab. The program length varies depending on your needs, but it typically takes about 5-7 days.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

The main principle of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Colorado is that substance use disorders are based on faulty thinking and behavior patterns. The goal of this treatment is to help the individual learn better ways of coping with challenges, which will lead to changes in thinking and behavior.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Therapists who employ motivational interview techniques seek to draw out the client's ideas about change and allow them to draw their own conclusions about the need for change. This method is often effective for clients who feel unsure about their ability to change or the need for change.

During trauma therapy, you explore the impact that a traumatic event has had on your life. Your therapist can help you develop strategies to manage the emotional and physical symptoms while improving emotional regulation. This improves your overall quality of life.

Based on the couple's needs, couples therapy may take different forms. Your therapist will probably take an integrated approach, using techniques from several methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic couple's therapy. The goal is to work through challenges and strengthen your relationship.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Really bizarre set up. You can't schedule anything online. You have to call and stay on hold for long periods then go rounds with those staff. Called to set an appointment for meds and the girl kept stating "Yeah, that's for meds with Psychiatry... you talked to them"... I didn't. I spoke to therapist, I started my call with "I'm calling to talk with someone about meds." She went on like this for several minutes then would go silent after she stated exactly the same thing I'd just said. The back and forth and having to wait is exhausting as hell. I want to give this place a shot but I'm already really unsure based on disorganized they are.

I just started to see a counselor at diversus. The only reason I’m not giving them Five stars is because I’m looking for someone very, very experienced. Otherwise, I must say, I’m very impressed with the guy I met just today.

I’ve had a great experience with Diversus since I started going, participating in their IOP program, attending groups, and more. My most recent positive experience was working with Lauren Runyon, a Job Coach at Diversus Health. I could tell from our first meeting that she genuinely cares about her clients’ success and helping them get back on their feet—and that’s exactly what she did for me. After losing my previous job, Lauren’s guidance and support helped me secure what I now call my “forever job.” She was knowledgeable, encouraging, and always prompt in answering any questions I had. From start to finish, it was a completely positive experience, and her dedication truly made a difference in my life.

I value the in person Meetings wth my counselor. I dislike video visits. My counselor listens attentively & gives me feedback on my viewpoints. She helps me to stay realistic & not expect too much of people in my daily life. I am more giving, generous & public service minded than the majority of people I encounter. I pick up trash that I didn't drop. I hold doors for random people. Etc...

Response from the owner
Thank you for sharing your experience, Terra! We're glad you felt safe, respected and heard by your provider and that they have helped you to stay grounded. Thank you for trusting us on your mental health journey, and we hope to continue to support you!
