About Families and Adolescents in Recovery – FAIR Counseling

Families and Adolescents in Recovery – FAIR Counseling, located in Schaumburg, Illinois, helps adolescents and young adults struggling with substance use. They offer therapy that’s both individual and family based. The clinic is conveniently based in Schaumburg, a suburban area with easy access for those in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. The facility is a place where people from the surrounding area can come for regular treatment without the hassle of long drives.

Action-oriented Counseling Sessions

The therapists work closely with clients to get to the heart of what’s influencing their substance use. Whether it’s emotional pain, past trauma or current stress, they help clients gain clarity so they can start making meaningful changes. The sessions are action oriented, offering tools that clients can use in their daily lives.

Overcoming substance abuse isn’t a simple fix—addiction runs deep, shaped by a mix of emotional, mental and environmental factors. At FAIR the counselors take a comprehensive, evidence based approach to tackle addiction from all angles. They work closely with clients to understand what’s really behind the substance use and then focus on replacing old, unhealthy ways of coping with more effective, sustainable strategies.

Treatment for Behavioral Addictions

While substance addictions are more commonly discussed, behavioral addictions—like gambling, gaming, excessive internet use or even work—can be just as damaging. People caught in these patterns often feel out of control and unable to stop even when they want to. The counselors here use cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients understand the thoughts and feelings that drive these types of addictive behaviors.

Brittany has been so helpful to me since I started seeing her, and she's someone you can laugh and smile with, but she knows when to be unpack important topics. She's ready to hear about day to day life or deeper issues, but either way it's time well spent and I always appreciate each session. I can tell she genuinely cares about people and has been helping me grow as a person, so if that's something you're looking for I would 100% recommend her!!!

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Families and Adolescents in Recovery – FAIR Counseling works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

This is an amazing program. We've been to many, many other programs in the area and none are like FAIR, this program is about real, long-lasting change. One of the things that make this program different is that they involve the family in the treatment. This program not only ... Read More

I'm just a few months into being here but I have to say that I am so very happy that Brittany is my therapist. She is a great listener, gives sound advice and feedback ...judgment free. It can be a challenge to find the right fit when it comes to finding a therapist. Thankful I have Brittany to help me on my healing journey.
