This has been the worst experience I've had in the emergency room .Had to wait 7 hours just to get in a room. My husband had a stress test that was finished at 11:00am and now we can't get the results and it 9:12 pm.The provider that came in was extremely rude to us and we are still waiting. Just wish someone would help us.Noticed the service here is very slow and unprofessional.

shady billing practices, surprise bills months after visit. give you a "good faith estimate" to quickly sign without bothering to mention that it doesn't include physician services. such a joke.

I came in 4.5 cm dilated on Sep 1st, 2025 at 4am (Labor Day, ironic). I needed time to process and not be completely negative about the situation. I had asked for nitrous as soon as I got there, it never got given to me. Went into MyChart, says I never sign the forms but they were never brought to me either. The nurses sucked and didn’t listen to me or my husband (it said to on my birth plan). She literally yelled at him after he’d been helping me through labor all by ourselves, calling for help telling them there’s heavy bleeding and we got told over the phone that “I’m fine”. This nurse also said it would be her last birth before becoming a dula, I pray for the moms in her care. Mine got placed while I was at 8cm bc they didn’t check me immediately before. Mine and baby’s heart rate dropped and I ended up having to get an emergency c section. After the surgery the anesthesiologist said this was the 9th epidural he’s placed today and all of them ended in c-sections and that he was going home. I felt defeated and was just happy to have my baby lying with me in recovery. Almost dying wasn’t cool, but the team of people that rushed in to save us when everyone else was failing us was super awesome. Once we were in our maternity room it was a lot better, only problem I really had was that they kept telling me to eat but the nutritionist took forever to give me a meal plan. Everything I ate my husband went to pick up.

Other Forms of Payment

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I'm a nurse. I used to be an ED nurse. I have had to go to emergency rooms in different places I've lived or visited over the years for various reasons including CHoP in Philly and Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. This is the single worst ED visit I have ever had. I came in, pregnant, with palpitations and chest pressure. Initially I went to the OB ED where I sat for over an hour and a half before someone decided I should go to the regular ED since they can't do anything about cardiac issues up there. I went down to the ED where I was quickly given an EKG and this is when the wheels fell off. They had ordered a chest X-RAY instead of an echo, which didn't set off alarm bells for me. They told me I could speak with the provider about it after I expressed discomfort with a CXR while pregnant. That sounded great, I figured I'd get to speak to them shortly and they'd get me set up for an urgent echo. All the whole my palpitations were becoming more frequent and I was starting to feel short of breath. Any and all sense of urgency on the part of the care team dissolved at this point. I sat in the waiting room for nearly 2 more hours before going to the desk to ask what was going on. I was told they were reviewing my labs and imaging, and when I told the ER Tech that neither of those things had occurred so there was nothing to review, she tried to tell me that my labs had been drawn because they were marked complete. I waited some more, they rectified the labs situation and sent my blood off. I waited for over another hour before I went to the desk to ask the same ER Tech, who was now equipped with an egregious attitude, if I could just ask the provider for an outpatient echo instead of waiting longer (the extensive waiting led me to believe that no one felt my condition was urgent) because my palpitations were getting more frequent and I was feeling worse, and I needed to go pick up my kid. The ER Tech, a blonde of about 20 who is volatile, irritable, and clearly hates every patient in the building, angrily told me that I have to see the provider for a referral. I told her that I am aware, and was asking to do just that. She became even angrier when I told her I understand that ED's work off acuity (pregnant with a cardiac issue should rank a bit high) and that I wasn't asking to be taken back to a room but to get a referral so I could leave. I ended up sitting back down for another 45 minutes, then asking the same angry tech who I needed to notify that I was leaving. She told me that I needed to tell her, then encouraged me to sign a refusal of care form. The form gave options for patients to express what care/advice they're choosing to ignore, none of which I'd received, and I told her I couldn't refuse care or sign a form asking for this information because I was doing the opposite, I was nearly begging for care. I ended up leaving without signing, it was essentially an AMA for the ED, but I think that the note she will need to write to document my exit should cover the conversation we had unless she's falsifying information in my chart. ETA: I mentioned that my labs didn't look like they included cardiac markers. The ER Tech made sure to use her most sarcastic tone to tell me that the provider did. The provider, in fact, did not and only ordered troponins. All around, just a terrible experience with deficits and delays at every turn. Stay home and die, it will be faster, cheaper, and a less abrasive experience than going to this hospital.

My daughter was transported by end to this hospital with excessive vomiting and excruciating abdominal pain. She was given a urine screen, blood screening as well as an ultrasound and placed back in the waiting room still in excruciating pain. Still vomiting. Still no help. All staff was rude when questions were being asked in a respectful manner. No help was given. In understanding that it is an emergency room and no one is there just to be there. The service was horrible and my baby has been there for over 5 hours. I’m not sure if it’s because Novant has taken over and patient dignity, respect, and treatment goes out the window but changes need to be made for the patients and families that trust the staff at this facility for treatment.

I went to the ER tonight after a fall. My knee was swollen and I was in terrible pain. The CT scan and X-rays were completed quickly. Three hours later I was still in the waiting room sobbing from the pain. I finally rolled myself outside and my son picked me up and took me home. At least I have Tylenol for the pain here.
