This hospital lied on my son s birth certificate saying mother refused father s information when all she did was refused to give them her ex s information. They did not talk to me about signing my son s birth certificate or anything costing me my rights until I paid over $1760 to get my name on it and get my rights . Dumbest bunch of people ever . They evidently never heard of a woman getting pregnant by someone other than her ex . I have called the feed back number and no one answered or returned My calls,.

So much to say! I went in for a head injury. The first floor I was on I liked pretty much. Then transferred. The second floor I was on was ok. I liked some of the staff. Some staff was very nice and made me feel like I was no bother. I kept apologizing though. Then some other staff were rude. I am aware I wasn't the only person on the floor. But, I waited a long time to get help at times. Those beds and chairs were so uncomfortable. I cried being on the floor. So much anxiety from my stay. I got to finally come home. Had a little tif with staff. This staff member I believe help my discharge up on purpose. Further hindering my anxiety. Took way to long to get discharged. It was done on purpose. I know. Crying out in room, they heard and my dismissal lengthened. Not exaggerating. I felt unheard. I wasn't put on two of my meds I needed. I had a bad cough when I was there and they asked me about it BUT never treated it. I was always very thankful. They did a few tests. Like a CT SCAN at 2:30 am and they did a heart test on the floor. Did a sleep test, even though I knew I had it. They did tons of bloodwork. They should of done another CT scan before leaving. Didn't check vision with light to check pupils. Maybe a few times when I first got there.I wanted to go home and I wanted to feel cared about my issues. I didn't need a psychologist to come to my room, because I said I wanted to jump out the window. I was 68 and unable to walk alone, let alone get on a chair onto a ledge in my room. I wear incontinence underwear and I couldn't get any from you. I know why and that was bologna. I was so uncomfortable with those pads between my legs 24/7. They tried that device to catch the urine. Didn't work. It was torture. Stupid rule! I understand it's all hospitals!

This facility is an unsafe, unclean unorganized nightmare! I wish I would have known how utterly deplorable this facility was prior to going to their ER on March 27, 2025. My experience was so horrific it is still difficult to relay. I went to the ER due to severe chest & abdominal pain after a fall. Not only was placed in several dangerous, unsanitary & uncomfortable situations during this visit, I was never provided any semblance of a diagnosis. Several of my veins were blown by an RN after being stuck & poked several times unsuccessfully for an I-V. I was left with severe, large painful bruising on both arms that lasted for over a month. My HIPPA rights were grossly & intentionally violated as a “safety sitter” was erroneously placed outside of my open room door for hours. A supervisor eventually apologized for the oversight hours later & after numerous complaints from both myself & my spouse. Prior to that, I was placed on a gurney in a hallway (in a hospital gown) directly across from a violent male patient who had previously assaulted 2 officers & was trying to leave his room. I was placed in this precarious situation after being removed from my room & left in the hallway after being told someone else with higher priority needed my room & all the other rooms were occupied. After expressing to staff how unsafe I felt, especially after several police officers came running down the hall to subdue the patient right next to my gurney, I was later placed in his room once the individual was removed without anyone cleaning the room between patients. I was subjected to excessive radiation having to repeat CT scans due to the doctor on call “forgetting” to request thorough scanning as we had discussed prior to being wheeled to the Radiology Dept. The staff member who wheeled me to & from the CT scan room was on a verbal tirade about how the patients “get on her nerves & are always complaining”…I spoke with someone from Guest Services about all of the shenanigans that had been taking place. She apologized & relayed that she heard the staff member’s comments & had spoken with her regarding the incident. She also assured me that I would not have to interact with her anymore that night. However, that same staff member was sent to transport me back to my room after the 2nd scan. I saw the guest services rep during transport & she quickly looked the other way as if she didn’t want to deal with the situation. Several staff members knocked & walked into my room asking for other patients by name. Several gave nervous smiles & half apologies relaying how people keep switching rooms because it was so busy. While waiting for hours for the CT results a nurse walked past the room loudly stating, “I really don’t like working this shift, you know all the crazies come here at night.” She looked uncomfortable once she realized my husband & I heard her but she continued to sashay down the hallway as if this was normal practice. The bathroom facility in the hallway was filthy. We were later told by a staff member that an entire pod section had been closed for deep cleaning which lead to the confusion, lack of cleanliness & overcrowding in the area we were located. I ended up abruptly leaving after being there for over 7 hours without so much as an educated guess as to the source of my pain. I expressed to the staff before & after shift change that it appeared they were simply milking my insurance as opposed to actually helping me. My pleas fell on deaf ears as I was told more times than I care to mention, “I’m sorry you feel that way”. I ended up going to Atrium Health not long after and was given the help & relief I needed without the hellish experience. I also went through the laborious hassle of recounting the events of this horrific evening in a detailed email accompanied by numerous pictures of my injuries caused by the failed I-V attempts. They definitely added insult to injury by sending an insincere letter via mail with a dry apology for my experience. If at all possible, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!

Accepted Insurance

Forsyth Medical Center Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Was in ER on Sunday for a lung problem. All went well until it was time to go. I am disabled and legally blind but they wouldn’t call Uber for me. Security escorted me out to the waiting room. I live over an hour away from the hospital in a nearby county. I have an extensive medical history at this hospital and I have never been treated so poorly in my life.

I recently had surgery at Novant Medical Center and the staff was so kind, caring, informative and transparent during the procedure. At every stage, I felt taken care of and had the best experience someone could have had having surgery. Facilities and processes were streamlined and clean, and the team knew what they were doing!

If I could give this pathetic excuse for a hospital zero stars I would, got doctors asking me...a practitioner what to do for my dieing mother, ever changing meds that dont work from shift to shift because theres so many different doctors on the upstairs floors. No one paying attention to blood work, I really feel for anyone that has no medical knowledge that get admitted here. Catty lazy nurses, incompetent uncaring physicians...and the absolutnworse part is that the rooms for these poor folks are absolutely filthy. Look at this. This is in a patients room thats being billed thousands upon thousands a day and they cant even keep the floors clean. The hallways are also just as disgusting. Sticky, brown, covered in filth and hair. Who is funding this place? YOUR insurance dollars. To turn around and be subjected to filthy accomoidations, and negligent staff from the physicians to the charge nurses. The day to day nurses have absolutely NO common sense. Cleaning nephrostomy tubes with waterless shampoo!!! Are you kidding me???!!!! SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN.
