This place has helped me immensely. It’s been a perfect environment for me to live life on life’s terms, grow and have fun in, all while staying sober. If you’re excited to grow as a man and be given the tools and space to practice them while becoming a part of society again, this is that place. Here I am held accountable to my actions, expected to stay sober, be a positive member of society, maintain a clean environment, without fail: All these things I was not doing half a year ago. Today I am proud to say that I am doing those things as well as regaining confidence in myself. Freedom House has helped make that happen. If you’re looking for a place with everything you need and more in order to fly; this is that place. It’s been that place for me. The owners Chad and Megan really care about you and your stay here and want you to do great and will accommodate to your needs. Just know you can’t fail here unless you want to or are dishonest with your self. On a lighter note, we do have fun and I wouldn’t be here still if it wasn’t chill and fun to live at Freedom House. We definitely work hard and play hard here. We also go on outings, have bbqs, hit the gym like animals, make music, crack jokes, sip coffee, do the right thing and more. Everyone I have met here has been a blessing to get to know and meet. There is a wholesome and supportive brotherhood here which I am proud to say I am a part of. ~Gerry with a G

Chad and Megan are awesome. They know how to facilitate a great environment for staying sober and are very helpful with anything one might need in early recovery. House is great. Right near a bunch of stores and a gym. Highly recommend for anyone who’s taking that next step in their recovery journey.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Animal therapy (aka pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy) can be very healing, as it allows patients to bond with animals, who give unconditional love. This is particularly useful for those who suffered trauma by the hands of people, who may be able to trust and form closer attachments to animals than humans at certain stages of rehabilitation.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Hypnotherapy (aka guided hypnosis) can be used as a therapeutic modality to treat substance use, especially in terms of quitting smoking cigarettes (nicotine). Clinical hypnotherapists help clients turn their attention inward, accessing unconscious or subconscious material, and then make suggestions that are healthier for the individual. The process can help clients make deep, positive, and lasting changes, including ceasing addictive habits.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Sound therapy (aka sound healing or vibrational medicine) uses sonic vibrations to stimulate healing at the cellular level. Vibrations, either from the human voice or resonant objects like tuning forks, gongs, or Tibetan bowls, affect cellular resonance in the body, which can help heal the impact of anxiety, depression, trauma, and more.

If you are serious about recovery then this is the best place I could recommend to get a fresh start on learning to live free from addiction. Freedom House has done so much for me. The house owners actually care about you and will go above and beyond for you. I feel so lucky to have found this place when I needed it most and I have grown so much here. There is always a solid group of guys who take recovery seriously and there is as much laughter and fun as there is serious recovery and that is a lot. They really get to ready to move on to your next stage of growth in recovery and the things that you “have to” do to stay here are ultimately for in your best interests. They give you structure with having to do daily chores that rotate and you have to hit at least 5 meetings a week as well as have you work the 12 steps of recovery and get a sponsor. The accountability here is fantastic and I couldn’t ask for a better place to live while trying to learn the basics of learning how to live sober. In my addiction I drank because I was lonely and lonely because I drank but here I have never felt alone. I will always be eternally grateful for Freedom House.

IF YOU’RE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR RECOVERY.. FREEDOM HOUSE IS FOR YOU. This house is about patience and growth, no one here will be quick to give up on you but quick to push you to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve. Here I have learned communication, patience, and responsibility. Things I never cared to learn and did not know how badly I was in need of them. Any and everything you need to improve yourself and your life is available to you here and if it’s not they will help you figure out how to get it.

Safety+Recovery+Peace of Mind = Freedom House I don’t know where to start when talking about freedom house, this is a the place where my life in actual recovery took place. I have never felt more love and respected by anyone as I did by the owner and he never asked me to do anything but clean up after myself and remain accountable in regards to my programming. At freedom house I built a support system of peers and mentors that have impacted my life up to present day. I am not afraid of the disease of addiction anymore and I love myself today. I attribute the success of my recovery to the routine, cleanliness, and safety of Freedom House where the only obstacle to get over to ensure mental, spiritual, and physical wellness was me, myself, and I. Freedom House is in a great neighborhood, the gym is not even 5 minutes walking distance, anywhere you want to eat or shop is also in walking distance. My name is Jeffrey Harris and I am proud to say that I am Free today because of being apart of the structure at Freedom House in Woodland Hills Ca.

Response from the owner

Man. Where do I begin. For starts, Freedom House absolutely saved my life. Going from program to program. Almost being on the verge of going back to my old ways. Freedom House stepped in and picked me up to set me on a path of recovery and growth to a different extent. The owners actually care about every single one of the clients and always are of service wherever they can be. They have been more than enough of support for me and are always pushing me to be the best version of me that I can be. Here you have an opportunity to gain more confidence in yourself. You have the opportunities to do things you never thought was possible. The love and care that I have received are so different than any other place I have been. And being so young in this program. I have always felt loved. This house is so good if you are serious about your recovery and wanting to get put on a right track towards your goals. As a house we always support one another and are here for each other any way we can be. I will be forever grateful for Freedom House and the owners and especially the House Manager. God brought me to freedom and it was exactly the place that I needed to be to ensure my Life isn't lost faster than it could have. Thankful for the people I have around me here and I wouldn't change a thing about this beautiful home. One Helluva 12 step recovery home filled with amazing companionship and Brotherly-Love

Let's address the truth here: Nobody walks into a sober living home with a big grin on their face. If you're seeking refuge in a sober living environment, it's because you're fighting a battle for your life against addiction. But don't let the tough road that led you here define your experience. Sober living should be more than just a place; it should be a sanctuary. It should be a place where the house feels like a home and the people you live with feel like family. As a resident of Freedom House for the past month, I've discovered the true meaning of family and what it takes to reintegrate into society. What sets Freedom House apart are the owners, Chad and Megan. They're not just proprietors; they're champions of recovery. They don't just maintain a sober living house; they create an environment conducive to maintaining sobriety. If you're just looking for a free place to crash, this isn't it. The property is meticulously maintained, and each housemate has a weekly chore, taking pride in keeping our home clean while living a clean life. Chad and Megan are always there to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. I can't express how delighted I am that I found Freedom House, especially after a brief, disappointing stay at another sober living facility. The contrast in cleanliness and quality of life was staggering, and as soon as I heard about an opening at Freedom House, I jumped at the opportunity. If you're like me, questioning if you truly want to break free from addiction and maintain your sobriety, then I strongly urge you to join us at Freedom House. Here, you'll discover a home, a family, and a path to a brighter future.

Response from the owner
Scott,

We are humbled at the opportunity to be of service to our community and blessed to be witness to your journey of transformation.
We look forward to continuing to trudge this road with you.

FREEDOM HOUSE This is more then just a place for you to go to stay sober, its a place of love compassion and understanding. The owners chad and megan are more then just people that own the buissnes, they are mentors and role models for those who don't know how to live this life properly. They are there for you when you need them most, and they will always call you out when you need it. Because thats what we need sometimes. Thier hearts are bigger then california it's self. I love being here and after i leave they will always be family!

Response from the owner
Joseph,
