While the clients are mainly athletes, there are also clients that are in recovery for addiction, I being one of them. I enjoyed the group sessions, and they were very healing. My therapist, Pia, is a true gift, and I would recommend her for anyone healing from addiction. The staff was more like a family and they treated me very well. From the owner Deb to the administration, techs, and nursing staff, everybody was very accommodating to me. A shout out to the chefs, while being there almost thirty five days, every meal was delightful every time. I only wish I could stay longer, thank you Pure Recovery for My Success, I am well. Part of that job requires me to select treatment programs that are well suited for their often complex needs. Finding good programs that truly understand addiction/dual diagnosis issues that are often complicated by cognition and brain trauma issues was a nearly impossible. Then the NFL Alumni connected me to Pure Recovery California. The Pure Recovery programs , which are for everyone not just athletes are remarkable. Their approach to treating addiction as a brain disease and their advanced neuroscience programs are real game changers. The facility is beautiful and the expert medical team is outstanding. The results for the athletes that I personally know and work with that have been through the program are just amazing , life changing and lifesaving. I will continue to recommend Pure Recovery California and their outstanding programs to athletes and others who are in need of recovery programs. But after seeing a community physician and being soundly disappointed, I decided to brave it anyway. What a happy surprise it was! I was treated with dignity and respect by every staff member I encountered, and although I did have to wait a fair bit for the doc (because he takes the extra time with patients, which I consider good, thank you), the place stayed open for me, and any of the staff still needed stayed as well. The only reason for knocking off a star is the difficulty in reaching the CBOC by phone and returning calls.. they are still being routed through the Greater LA VA Hospital call center, which is at least improving by not having a robot say that they are having high call volume and hanging up on you. The beautiful, clean home I stayed in is about a 5 minute walk to the beach and is nestled right next to the harbor. Starting from day one I was scheduled to meet with an MD and the staff also lined me up for meetings with a psychologist and therapist. The friendly counselors are very knowledgeable and happily tend to your needs around the clock. Also, you will never have to worry about going hungry. This place has its very own talented chef and the cabinets are always overstocked with food and snacks. Another plus is that yoga, paddle boarding, trips to the gym and other fun group outings are planned throughout the week. Overall, Channel Islands Rehab would be an excellent choice for anyone looking to get back on track with a healthy, sober lifestyle. Corky is wonderful to work with. The quality of his work is outstanding. He doesn't stand for superficial fixes; he is insistent on a complete and thorough job. He has worked with his subcontractors for years and knows who can do the job - they are also great. Corky was responsive to our requests and inquiries and handled everything with the utmost professionalism. We couldn't be more pleased with his work and highly highly recommend him. She’s horrible as a Councler shes too personal (in a bad way) acts to religious ( without considering others beliefs) and very judgmental ( like she’s too good for people, doesn’t seem to understand bad things happen but it’s about correcting learning and fixing mistakes). This is usually the time I would look for something to lift my mood. Depression gets the best of me and I spiral. I was able to really open up there. I was able to unload and place a lot of my unresolved feelings aside. They really have wonderful people there. If you're serious about getting rid of whatever it is you need to get rid of.. After struggling with some significant trauma, the counselors that worked with my son were truly wonderful. The weekend activities were excellent including boating and trips to amusement parks. During the week, he learned to surf, completed his school curriculum so that he could graduate from his regular education elementary school, and took hikes at beautiful locations around Malibu. He loved the food, and participated in group and music therapy as well as individual counseling. We spoke on the phone most nights and had great weekend visits. My son is now a thriving 7th grader, enjoying school and close relationships with his friends. I would encourage anyone struggling to give your child the gift of this healing environment. I needed help in my life and Elevation Behavioral Health provided the care and tools I was in search for. Starting from the admissions process until my final day, the Elevation staff went above and beyond. Stephanie, was in charge of my admissions, which she made seamless. Stephanie responded to all my emails and phone calls in a timely fashion and with great care. At the Calabasas house, I had the privilege to have Michele as my therapist. I owe her my life with how attentive and caring she was for me. Michele was compassionate, funny, and direct - something I needed. I could go on and on about how great of a therapist she was for me, but I do not know if there would be enough characters for me to write a review. Thank you Michele. The coaches and chefs, all of whom were therapists within their own right, were fantastic. In a place where you already feeling vulnerable they made it feel like home. Friendly, compassionate, and wonderful human beings overall is not enough to say about them. (Again, worried about the character limit here.) There were pros and cons for sure, these were: Pros: Really good food Outings were fun If you were level 3 and above, you could go on off site visitations with your family Cons: Leveled me down on my last week while I had been withdrawing from two meds (Abilify and Zoloft) Made me sit through an intense PTSD flashback and didn’t let me do anything to distract myself (it was to practice a skill, but i really needed help and i felt very distressed) Tried to punish me and make me stay an extra week for feeling suicidal after leveling me down Didn’t really do much when another kid was making me feel uncomfortable by making me feel overstimulated But it was not a very bad experience. There’s no such thing as a perfect treatment center, & if you are searching the internet for one I promise you wont find it, but visions is as close as it gets. I went through Mulholland & extended care starting in july of 2025 going into December when i went home. I’m a year sober now & visions is the place that gave me the tools to make that happen for myself. The majority of treatment centers & rehabs out there truly only exist to profit off of suffering, i’ve been through places like that & I promise you visions is not one of these places. the majority of the staff are in recovery themselves & if you’re willing to do the work, visions is the best place to do it. the program at visions in residential & extended care is so much more than a guide to recovery from addiction, it’s a guide on how to function in the world. I was using since i was 12 before i came into treatment and there were very basic things i was clueless about. i learned how to do my own laundry at visions, how to wash dishes properly & sweep floors. i learned the importance of pulling your weight when you’re living in a shared space, social skills, common sense & so much more. It sounds silly, like stuff that everyone should know, but i know several others who were in the same boat as me. I don’t know where i’d be without visions & frankly I don’t want to know.
