About Garden State Treatment Center

Garden State Treatment Center provides substance use and mental health care for adults 18 and older in Sparta, New Jersey. They strive to meet you where you are on your recovery journey. They understand that a generic approach typically isn’t sufficient. You can access catered treatment plans that can lead to lasting sobriety.

The center works with most commercial health insurance plans and offers assistance with verification of benefits. They also have finance plans for guests without insurance coverage. Garden State Treatment Center is close to Lake Mohawk, where you can enjoy waterfront views and outdoor recreation conducive to healing.

Medication Assisted Treatment in Sparta, New Jersey

A great thing I noticed about them is that they offer MAT for guests struggling with opioid or alcohol addiction. This approach can help reduce drug cravings and lessen withdrawal symptoms.

They prescribe FDA approved medicines to make you more comfortable as you get to the root of addiction with behavioral therapy. You’ll benefit from tackling the physical and psychological effects of quitting substances to provide a greater chance at successful recovery.

Holistic Therapeutic Options

I also like that they not only provide traditional therapy sessions, but also include alternative, holistic methods. The idea is to help reduce stress, improve sleep, and address the whole person, rather than only the symptoms. They include nutritional therapy, yoga, massage, acupuncture, art therapy, sound healing and other techniques.

A Supportive Recovery Environment

The inclusive setting offers supportive care for the LGBTQ community and clients with co occurring mental health conditions. The team includes aftercare planning to help with ongoing recovery care, which may involve support group meetings, sober socials and continued counseling sessions. Former guests have reported experiencing compassionate care from staff members and effective treatment plans.

I just left Garden State and it was one of the best facilities I have ever been to. The facilitators are very educated and have years of recovery experience as well. They have weekly music therapy and other forms of therapy such as equine therapy, arts and crafts, ziplining, and boating. They have outings every Saturday. It is a fairly easy program to follow. They take us to at least 4 AA meetings per week and also take us to an outside gym up to 4 times a week. Every single staff member is extremely in tune with the clients needs and really cares. They listen if we need support or just want to talk, especially the director. I spoke to Pauly a few times and he never turned me away. This facility is not in it for the monetary gain. They allow phone times for clients outside of group hours. They also take us to the diner and order food for us once a week on the weekends. Trust me compared to other facilities, they do a lot for us. Sometimes you don't even feel like you are in treatment, you feel like you are home. The sober houses attached to treatment are absolutely gorgeous. Spacious and large rooms, large beds with TVs in all rooms. The houses are clean and well maintained. I give this facility a 5 star rating and this is coming from a client who has been to at least 20 different places. Garden State is awesome and I'll miss everyone there!!

I stayed clean/sober ever since I went to this treatment center 4 YEARS AGO! It is the only treatment center i didn't AMA from and even went back a second time. I always used to ama and never go back to the same one. But this one helped me because the houses you stay in are not connected to the center with therapy. In most rehabs, the bedrooms are in the same building as the classrooms and there is a cafeteria with crappy food. I had co-occuring eating disorders, as many addicts do. They are usually hospital settings and drove me crazy being able to skip class and eat and sleep all day. I'd eat, sleep, and gain weight until I could bear it and would ama. But at garden state, we got they took us to a grocery store once a week and gave us each $70 gift cards to get ourselves groceries for the week. We would stay in a nice big house with a real kitchen that wasn't near the center. Then we would have to be out of the house by 8 am and on the van to drive to the center. The group room had big comfy lounge chairs so all us still withdrawaling could be comfy in group. We would go 5 days a week for around 40 hours a week just like a job. It gave me structure! Routine! I had to get up and go in the morning. I did not have the option to sneak out of group and lay in bed or binge eat. It was what I needed to become a normal functioning human being again

Garden State was a great treatment center and the staff there was amazing. Jim’s groups were awesome, I got so much out of them. My individual counselor Stella went above and beyond and made extra time for me when I needed it despite the fact that she had other things she had to do. It just showed that they really cared about all of us and our recovery. Amy is the most caring person and has the biggest heart- her yoga sessions are incredible and they were always something I looked forward to. I would highly recommend this place to those struggling and in need of a safe space to recover. It can be scary and overwhelming but trust me when I say that you will be in good hands here!

Accepted Insurance

Garden State Treatment Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Financing your treatment can make treatment more accessible. You'll work with your care provider to set up payment plans, including interest rates and repayment timelines. Financing options vary widely and not all programs offer them, so be sure to get the full details before enrolling in treatment. If you have insurance or other benefits, financing may help you cover your remaining out of pocket expenses.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

12-step icon12-Step

Participants in 12 step programs engage in a rigorous process of personal growth as a cornerstone of long-term recovery. They are expected to attend anonymous, peer-led 12 step meetings, which are free, open to the public, and available multiple times per day in most communities. Though these programs are rooted in spiritual principles, religious affiliation is not required. Self-selected peer sponsors mentor participants as they work through the 12 steps, learning forgiveness, understanding, acceptance, and accountability.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Clients in a rehab aftercare program have typically completed detox and intensive inpatient and are medically stable. These programs are designed to address addiction recovery as a life-long process. Outpatient counseling and recovery education are typically categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive support after being discharged from formal outpatient treatment. Case managers and recovery teams facilitate clients' access to peer coaching, career counseling, 12 step program induction, and related services.

inpatient iconInpatient

Clients often enter inpatient rehab following detox, but they may also enroll during early recovery or at an increased risk of relapse. Inpatient rehabs provide housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision, allowing clients to focus exclusively on their recovery in a highly structured and supportive environment. Clients typically receive multiple individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions weekly. Many programs also offer extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training. Integrative inpatient rehabs provide holistic therapies as well.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients who are exiting inpatient rehab, those who are experiencing crisis, and those who prefer to live at home while in treatment typically enroll in intensive inpatient programs (IOP). These programs feature frequent and robust care, generally requiring clients to participate in at least nine hours of care weekly, though many intensive outpatient rehabs offer up to 20 treatment hours per week. IOP services typically combine individual, group, and family counseling with recovery education and holistic therapies.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

A medical detox is the safest way to wean your body off addictive substances. When you become physically dependent on alcohol or drugs, quitting abruptly can cause a host of challenging and uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. In medically assisted detox, a team of medical professionals will be on hand to monitor any symptoms, to provide medication if possible, and to help keep you as safe and as comfortable as possible throughout this process.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive a full continuum of care while continuing to live at home. They're often ideal for clients who are stepping down from inpatient care but some clients may prefer to transition into outpatient treatment immediately after completing detox. Many outpatient facilities also offer ambulatory medical detox for low-risk clients. Outpatient treatment generally includes psychotherapy and life skills training. Clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term, intensive outpatient option designed for those with moderate to severe addictions who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment is often fully covered by insurance and provides structured programming (i.e. individual and group therapy). A typical partial hospitalization program can meet 3-5 days a week for a minimum of 20 hours, offering intensive treatment during the day while allowing you to return home after. PHP treatment duration can vary based on your progress but averages 90 days.

telehealth iconTelehealth

Telehealth is a real-time communication between you and your physician via telecommunications equipment. This might involve a video call, phone call, or medical app. It may also include the transmission of medical information via sharing technology.

Treatments

Alcoholism (alcohol use disorder) is diagnosed when a person's drinking causes harm or distress and they continue to drink anyway. Often, they have a physical as well as psychological dependence on the substance. To treat alcohol addiction, medical detox is often necessary to safely withdraw from alcohol. Once this is complete, alcohol rehab in New Jersey can provide skills and supports necessary for long-term recovery.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

New Jersey has a variety of dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs, including inpatient and outpatient drug and alcohol rehabs, that recognize the unique needs of individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. These programs typically employ evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-focused therapy, and art therapy to successfully address co-occurring disorders and support sustained recovery.

Mental health often overlooked, but it's a critical component of addiction treatment and recovery. Mental health disorders can significantly impact your quality of life, relationships, and ability to function on a daily basis. Mental health conditions - depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder - and addiction require specialized treatment just like any other physical illness. When people have a mental health disorder and an addiction simultaneously, dual diagnosis treatment is essential.

mental-health iconMental Health And Substance Abuse
opium iconOpioid Addiction

You can find comprehensive substance abuse treatment in New Jersey in drug and alcohol rehabs. These treatment programs typically provide a full continuum of care including medically assisted detox, inpatient, outpatient, dual-diagnosis, and intensive outpatient. With a comprehensive substance abuse evaluation, addiction experts provide individualized treatment plans to meet your specific needs. These programs address substance use disorders using evidence-based therapies, like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), individual and family counseling, and recovery support groups.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in New Jersey typically follows a set structure of treatment. The therapist helps clients identify their life challenges and their thoughts surrounding those challenges. The client then learns to identify unhealthy thought patterns and reshape those into healthy patterns of thinking and behavior.

Dialectical means opposing. The premise of dialectical behavior therapy is to learn how two things that seem to be opposite can actually be true. You learn how to accept yourself while also making changes. The focus is on accepting your emotions and changing how you manage them.

Motivational interviewing helps clients find their motivation to change. It can be an effective method to work with clients who are angry or hostile or feel insecure about their ability to make changes in their lives. It is often used during addiction treatment or to manage physical health conditions.

Most experts in couples therapy are trained in several modes of treatment. This allows your therapist to draw from various techniques to personalize your therapy for your needs. This may include cognitive, emotional, and behavioral methods, which are all designed to help you strengthen your relationship.

Family therapy sessions address addiction related conflicts and other issues between members of the family unit. By strengthening communication and coping skills, as well as creating a nurturing environment, the family can help support their loved one's recovery.

During individual therapy for drug addiction, patients receive a customized and tailored approach to understanding their unique circumstances and providing them with targeted interventions. These include coping skills, relapse prevention plans, and developing resilience, all of which are essential for long term recovery.

What an absolutely wonderful team ❤️ the staff truly cares. the way the program is set up, you’re never bored. The techs are wonderful and helpful 🌈 the residential houses are absolutely beautiful. 10/10 would go back, but don’t ever plan on it- thanks to the treatment teams’ never-ending support. The alumni coordinator is pretty cool too. The support doesn’t end after your stay!

Garden State Treatment Center was the absolute best program I have been too. Unfortunately it wasn't my first, but because of them, it will be my last. Everyone of the staff was always kind, supportive, and knowledgeable. In addition, they were very respectful and genuine. I can't name one person that didn't love their job or their clients. 5 🌟 through and through.

Amazing treatment center. The staff is exceptional. They are warm, supportive and attentive. The program is extremely well balanced and educational between both clinical and mental health. Activities during the program are enriching and fun, like music and especially yoga with Amy which incorporates physical activity and relaxation techniques. The provided housing is the perfect place for comfort with fantastic staff and amenities. I would fully recommend this center and am so grateful for their experience provided.

Jen was an amazing case manager for me and always gets the job done no matter what. She takes the time to listen thoroughly and problem solve for me and other clients and takes her work seriously. The therapists are all very nice and work well together as well. The only problem I had was getting my return to work papers from the doctors for some reason but Case Manager Jen got that stuff done ASAP and was on everyone to get their sides done too. Love you, Jen!

I can't rave enough about this place. From the second I was on property I felt safe and at home. The techs treated us all with so much kindness and compassion, the group facilitators have hard earned experience, strength and hope that they integrate into genuinely captivating , informational and transformative group lessons . The food is great, the sober living is beyond comfortable and beautiful. The doctors truly listen and work with you to provide the best care possible. They even made Thanksgiving a truly lovely, memorable and enjoyable experience. I have a real soft spot in my heart for the whole RBHN company and all of their many great employees. 10/10 recommend - if you're looking for help just reach out , I promise you from that first phone call they'll have your back all the way through to the out patient process. I love you guys & thank you for loving me when I didnt love myself .
