About Get Real Recovery

At Get Real Recovery, clients undergo an individualized evaluation and receive a specific treatment plan. Detox can include medications and holistic treatments, and a case management team provides monitoring and evaluations to ease withdrawal and discomfort. Clients are then prepared to transition into rehabilitation.

Inpatient services at Get Real Recovery may last from two weeks to 18 months. Services include group and individual therapy and counseling, art and experiential therapy, and holistic therapy. Clients undergo life-skills development and relapse prevention through rational emotional behavioral therapy (REBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Private rooms are available.

Outpatient clients continue to receive support and undergo periodic evaluations by their case management team. Family resources and therapy may be available as the client prepares for independence. Outpatient treatment emphasizes relapse-prevention strategies and resuming daily activities.

Get Real Recovery offers continuous care and support after clients complete their outpatient program. Services may include career counseling and programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous. The center may provide referrals for specialized treatment in outside facilities.

Get Real Recovery is accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers and the California Department of Health Care Services.

Get Real Recovery offers self-pay and financing options. The center may be in-network with insurance providers such as Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, Magellan Health, and TRICARE. Please contact your insurance provider for specific details concerning out-of-network coverage.

I spent 32 days at New Leaf, and it ended up being the first time in a long time that I stopped running and actually looked at myself. This wasn’t just about not drinking. The team here helped me understand why I drank, what I’d been carrying, and what needed to change if I wanted a different life. They paid attention to who I am and tailored things to what I actually needed. The therapists were thoughtful and direct. The medical team was steady and kind. The nurses checked on me constantly. Even the groups, yoga, and sound sessions felt intentional instead of filler. Every single person here cares in a way that’s real and obvious. The biggest thing I’m leaving with is a sense of clarity and tools to keep going. And the community you build with the other people here matters more than I expected. New Leaf gave me space to do deep work on myself and a foundation to take the next step. I’m grateful for my time at New Leaf. Thank you ❤️

Thank you for sharing this — it’s incredibly meaningful to read. We’re grateful that your 32 days at New Leaf gave you the space, support, and clarity you were looking for. Our team really does try to meet each person where they are, so hearing that the therapists, medical staff, nurses, and groups all connected with you in a real way means a lot.

The work you described — slowing down, looking inward, and understanding the “why” behind everything — is not easy, and you deserve a lot of credit for showing up for yourself. We’re glad you’re leaving with clarity, tools, and a sense of community. That foundation matters.

Thank you again for the kind words. We’re wishing you strength and momentum as you take your next steps. ❤️

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare. Clients enrolled in the full-day outpatient program at Get Real Recovery - Ana Marie Lane, formally what they call PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program), attend programming Monday through Saturday for 8 hours each day. The schedule changes daily and clients attend group therapy, one-on-one counseling, therapy and healing services, experiential therapy, and more. Drug testing takes place at the center 3 times per week and clients are breathalyzed daily. Most clients attend PHP level of care once they have completed detox and residential treatment at Get Real Recovery - Ana Marie Lane. Others choose to attend their PHP program after transitioning from another facility. They recommend clients to be at this level of care for 30 days, if possible, so the addict builds a solid foundation for their continued sobriety.

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Individual and group therapy, plus an individualized plan is important in their recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.
