About Johns Creek & Alpharetta Counseling “JCAC”

You’ll find Johns Creek and Alpharetta Counseling located in Alpharetta, Georgia. They offer a wide range of therapy services tailored specifically for individuals and families. Rock Mill Park isn’t too far and is within driving distance if you need a way to spend some downtime.

They offer services like family therapy, which focuses on improving communication and connection using approaches such as talk therapy, play therapy, and models like structured family therapy and attachment theory. I found it really beneficial that they also have specialized support for groups like military families, families with young children, and people trying to recover from addiction and mental health, including those with co-occurring conditions.

Comprehensive Recovery for Many Client Populations

They provide counseling for teens and teach them how to navigate difficult challenges like self-esteem issues, relationships, bullying, addiction, depression and anxiety. Their counselors also work with parents to figure out effective support techniques. If your teen is struggling with suicidal idealation or self-harm, they offer risk assessments and tools to help manage those overwhelming emotions.

For adults and seniors, they provide individual counseling to address mental health issues, addiction, grief and trauma. They use dialectical (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) to promote healing and personal growth. Seniors also get assistance with grief and aging with dignity.

Everyone and Anyone Can Recover

This clinic seems like a good option for those seeking an emphasis on inclusivity, welcoming all backgrounds, the LGBTQ+ community, and those individuals exploring their unique identity or faith. It’s a non-judgemental safe space.

Through this kind of personal approach to therapy and using a client-centered approach, this clinic aims to support individuals and families in achieving the recovery they need to thrive in their personal lives.

Dr. Minehart has been so helpful guiding me through co-parenting challenges. I don't think counselors get enough credit for what they do for families

I got the opportunity to participate in JCAC's Summer Counseling Foundations Program and every person I met was so kind and welcoming. The therapists did an amazing job of making everyone feel comfortable and I learned SO much more about tools and techniques used in therapy. I would highly recommend this program to any student that is considering going into counseling, as it is an amazing opportunity to learn more about the field while being surrounded by knowledgable people that truly care.

I cannot express how grateful I am for the support and care I received from Mikayla Minehart. When I started therapy, I was really struggling with postpartum anxiety and depression. I felt overwhelmed, isolated, and unsure of how to navigate this new chapter of motherhood. From the very first session, Mikayla made me feel seen, heard, and truly understood. I cannot say enough good things.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

People in Georgia find that group therapy offers a place to share responsibility for each other's recovery. This helps foster a collective commitment to sobriety, which increases your potential for success and creates a network of mutual support that often follows into personal friendships.

Men and women in Georgia may experience Motivational Interviewing techniques while undergoing individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction treatment. This approach helps you explore how you feel about drug use and it strengthens your commitment to maintaining treatment. It is particularly useful in the early stages of recovery.

In trauma therapy, you address the emotional and psychological effects of traumatic events in your life. Your therapist provides you with the tools you need to process those memories and reduce the symptoms. This helps improve your overall mental health and functioning.

The skills you learn in couples therapy are designed to help you successfully address relationship challenges as they arise. These skills can include anger management, conflict resolution, communication, and problem solving.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.
