About Live Oaks Wellness

You’ll find Live Oaks Wellness in Novato, California. This addiction treatment center serves adults aged 18 and older. You can begin your recovery journey with detox and residential treatment, including dual diagnosis care. You can pay for treatment with most major health insurance plans. Private pay options are also available.

Holistic Recovery Approach

For me, their holistic approach really stood out. The detox phase can include medication assisted treatment (MAT) to help alleviate withdrawal symptoms and cravings.

You’ll participate in a wide range of proven therapy methods, including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy. Holistic practices, like mindfulness and yoga sessions, can also help you find balance in recovery. They offer nutritional support to help nourish your body as it heals from the effects of addictive substances.

An Intimate Treatment Environment

You may continue your treatment in their residential program after completing detox. I like that they have a small client to staff ratio. You can expect to participate in intimate group therapy sessions with just five peers on similar paths. You’ll benefit from tight knit support and personalized attention.

They incorporate other holistic treatment methods, including meditation sessions and art therapy. You can also access aftercare and alumni support to stay on track after treatment.

Empowering Healing with Somatic Therapy

They integrate mental health support into their programs, as well as relapse prevention and psychoeducation. Another great feature I noticed was that they offer somatic therapy. This approach encourages healing through connecting with your mind and body.

You can release stored trauma, negative emotions and tension. You’ll work through firmly held memories and emotions by focusing on bodily sensations and physical experiences. You’ll benefit from accessing these feelings to overcome trauma and promote overall wellness.

I recently was a client at Live Oaks in November of 2025. I walked into the doors scared and embarrassed of where my life was headed. ALL STAFF there are highly educated in addiction and positive life building skills! From group to one on one I have never had a more dependable, trusting and loyal group of Staff to help me get out of the darkest time in my life! I highly recommend this place!!! The food is great, the sauna is awesome!. The rooms and bathrooms are well maintained! Very clean through the whole facility. If you are like me and need help this is the place to go! Thank you Live Oaks Wellness. When I received the phone call in the middle of the night that my college aged daughter was hospitalized for alcohol poisoning. I didn’t know where to turn. Live Oaks Wellness came highly recommended from three sources, including a trusted family friend. Who also had a loved one go through the program successfully. Their staff quickly responded in managing the transition for getting my daughter into their exceptional inpatient program. She had a great experience and she has been sober and doing great since. Couldn’t have done it without the phenomenal team at Live Oaks Wellness. Thank you very much. Highly recommended!

Our son has been struggling with addiction for several years. He chose to go to rehab 9 months ago and found four months of sobriety but then relapsed thus starting a relapse/rehab cycle. He has been in 7 different programs during this time. At each program they would give him new and more meds, to the point he was barely able to stay awake or fully engage in conversation. I would tell everyone possible that his meds needed adjusting but it only seemed to get worse. Finally, after his 5th relapse in 3 months, he ended up at Live Oaks. Right away their clinical team recognized that his meds were ‘ridiculous and negligent’. For the first time since our son started his recovery journey we actually were able to talk to someone from the medical team. Tim, the onsite RN spoke with us at length several times and iterated his determination to get our son set on a better path. This included connecting him with a psychiatrist who is now the only person who can alter Logan’s meds. When our son got to LO he was in a spiral and 4 days later chose to leave LO on his own and promptly relapsed. After only 15 hours away he chose to return. He stayed for another week, but during this short time Jacob, Tim, Marcelo and the techs bent over backwards to support him. Jacob was up most of the night engaging with Logan during his relapse. I’m certain that is why he chose to return. Logan has ultimately chose to go to an SLE/PHP program down in Encinitas, Immersive, and seems to be thriving there. This choice was at the recommendation of Jacob who knows the program well. All of the team, including Tim the RN who flew down to San Diego with Logan, have been instrumental in helping Logan transition to his new environment. I cannot thank the team at LO enough for the support, expertise and dedication to our son. We’ve experienced several programs and Live Oaks was by far the most instrumental in helping our son, even though he was only there for a short time. My husband and I are forever grateful for their care, compassion and professionalism! If you are looking for a recovery program for yourself or a loved one—start here! I wish we would have!

Hi Sharlene, thank you so much for sharing such a detailed and heartfelt review. We’re incredibly moved by your story and grateful you took the time to share your son’s journey with such honesty. While Logan’s time with us was brief, it means the world to know that our team made a meaningful difference, not only for him, but for your entire family.

We’re proud of the compassion, commitment, and professionalism shown by Tim, Jacob, Marcelo, and our entire clinical staff. It’s reassuring to hear their care and dedication helped Logan feel supported, even during one of the most difficult chapters in his recovery. We're also glad that Jacob’s recommendation led him to a program where he’s now thriving, that’s the outcome we hope for every individual who walks through our doors.

Please know our team is always here if Logan or your family ever needs support in the future. We’re truly honored to have been part of his recovery journey, and we’re wishing him continued strength and success in Encinitas and beyond. Thank you again, your words will stay with us.

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Live Oaks Wellness works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.

Using telehealth options in California allows you to share health information with your provider via phone call, video chat, or healthcare apps. You can meet with them virtually as well as submit health information online so they can track your progress without having to meet with them in person.

Treatments

Alcoholism, or alcohol use disorder (AUD), is defined by alcohol dependence. This is a state the body reaches when it experiences withdrawal symptoms in the absence of alcohol. A person who has AUD craves alcohol and continues to drink despite adverse consequences. Because withdrawing from alcohol can pose health risks, individuals with AUD should seek professional alcohol rehab in California to overcome their alcohol addiction. This process typically involves medical detox, rehabilitation, and maintenance.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

In California, dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs offer comprehensive care for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Programs include medically assisted detox, intensive outpatient, outpatient, residential rehab, and partial hospitalization. Using an evidence-based approach, clinicians utilize therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, or dialectical behavioral therapy and mindfulness to address substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health challenges. Additional services include 12-Step recovery, group therapy, family counseling, and relapse prevention to promote sustained recovery.

Inpatient treatment for drug and alcohol addiction with a focus on mental health is a good fit for people who need closer monitoring and care. Treatment may occur in a hospital setting, a clinic, or a luxury rehab center. Mental health counselors and staff are available 24/7. Therapies typically include group and individual counseling, relapse prevention education, and emotional coping skills training.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

In California, substance abuse treatment programs can help individuals with any type of substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. These rehab programs typically encompass various levels of care, including medically assisted detox, intensive outpatient, outpatient, residential rehab, and partial hospitalization. You can expect clinicians to utilize evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness to help you achieve and sustain your recovery. The rehab's clinical team can provide a comprehensive assessment to determine the appropriate level of care and medical support you may need.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.

Individual therapy for drug addiction includes a customized treatment plan that considers your history and life circumstances. During your therapy sessions, the therapist helps you uncover underlying issues and triggers for addictive behavior that support a holistic approach to recovery.

During group therapy, men and women learn to express their emotions openly in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and reduces feelings of social isolation that are often associated with addiction.

The use of experiential therapy can be helpful for the treatment of behavioral disorders, including drug and alcohol addiction. This method teaches you how to release negative emotions and cope with pain from the past. Activities such as art, music, and animal care are used to facilitate this process.

Family therapy offers a platform for members to have an open dialogue about the challenges that addiction has placed on the family unit. Through guided sessions, therapists can help families develop healthy communication skills and address unresolved issues. By working together toward a common goal, they help to support their loved one's sobriety.

Substances can prevent the absorption of nutrients and cause damage to your body's systems. Nutrition therapy in California addresses the deficiencies in vitamins and minerals that are caused by substance abuse.

While in rehab treatment, you may work on developing various life skills to help you in long term recovery. These may include resilience, interpersonal skills, and self awareness. The focus will be on developing healthy habits for self care and relationships so you have the skills you need to manage day to day life.

Recreational therapy is included in alcohol and drug addiction treatment to focus on engaging you in healthy activities that reduce your cravings and improve your overall health and well being. When you participate in group sports, art, or nature walks, you develop new interests and find a meaningful way to spend your time and reduce your cravings.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

What an unbelievable miracle Live Oaks Wellness Center has been in our family’s life. From the very beginning, Marcelo Nazarian — the Director of Admissions and Clinical Outreach — went above and beyond to support us. Even before my child entered their care, Marcelo personally spoke with him to offer reassurance and compassion, and a thoughtful, structured plan was already in place. Throughout the past year, Marcelo has continued to stand by our side, showing a level of commitment and care that is truly rare. Jake was equally incredible — always available, always listening, and always willing to connect with any of us in the family. His ability to support not just our son but all of us made a lasting impact. Our son made real progress at Live Oaks, and a full year later, we were able to work with the team to develop a thoughtful transition plan. Even now, long after his time there, Marcelo continues to check in — or picks up the phone when I need someone to talk to. That level of care and ongoing connection is something I’ve never seen before. Addiction that begins in the early teen years is incredibly complex, and the road to recovery is never straightforward. While our roller coaster has not ended, I can honestly say I don’t know where I’d be without Marcelo and Jake Tedesco. Their compassion, consistency, and willingness to show up day after day — even when things were hard — made all the difference. They truly are a safe pair of hands and make you feel a little less alone. There are no words that fully capture our gratitude. Live Oaks gave us hope when we needed it most — and for that, we are forever thankful.
