What an unbelievable miracle Live Oaks Wellness Center has been in our family’s life. From the very beginning, Marcelo Nazarian — the Director of Admissions and Clinical Outreach — went above and beyond to support us. Even before my child entered their care, Marcelo personally spoke with him to offer reassurance and compassion, and a thoughtful, structured plan was already in place. Throughout the past year, Marcelo has continued to stand by our side, showing a level of commitment and care that is truly rare. Jake was equally incredible — always available, always listening, and always willing to connect with any of us in the family. His ability to support not just our son but all of us made a lasting impact. Our son made real progress at Live Oaks, and a full year later, we were able to work with the team to develop a thoughtful transition plan. Even now, long after his time there, Marcelo continues to check in — or picks up the phone when I need someone to talk to. That level of care and ongoing connection is something I’ve never seen before. Addiction that begins in the early teen years is incredibly complex, and the road to recovery is never straightforward. While our roller coaster has not ended, I can honestly say I don’t know where I’d be without Marcelo and Jake Tedesco. Their compassion, consistency, and willingness to show up day after day — even when things were hard — made all the difference. They truly are a safe pair of hands and make you feel a little less alone. There are no words that fully capture our gratitude. Live Oaks gave us hope when we needed it most — and for that, we are forever thankful.

I couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible program Live Oaks Wellness offered me… the incredible staff, therapist, and the amazing people I met while I was there has changed my life, FOREVER! Before walking through the doors I had no idea what to expect, this was my first time in treatment. I was scared but was immediately able to completely surrender with the warm welcome by ALL. They made sure I felt at home, but most Importantly made me feel safe and comfortable through the entire program. They not only offer a VERY comfortable detox (which was my biggest worry) but they offer SOOO MUCH MORE… A spacious, clean & cozy house with a swimming pool, basketball court, huge backyard incredible therapy, private chef, outings, private workouts, art therapy, AA/NA meetings, the list goes on! If you are someone who is struggling with addiction and YOU’RE in need of help, don’t hesitate 🙏🏽 Live Oaks Wellness is your first step in your/our journey to becoming FREE again.

TL;DR: Live Oaks Wellness is a life-changing rehab center that supported me through two of the most difficult times in my life. My first stay taught me invaluable lessons, and after a relapse, my second stay solidified my recovery and led to a profound spiritual awakening. The compassionate staff, beautiful location, and evolving programs helped me rediscover purpose and regain control of my life. I owe them everything for helping me become a new person. Live Oaks Wellness is one of the best rehab centers in California. Jack and the team were there for me when my life was hanging by a thread, guiding me through some of the darkest moments of my life. I went twice—once to start my journey and again after a relapse—but not because they didn’t do their job. It took me two stays to confront the deeper issues I wasn’t ready to face. Here’s a detailed account of both visits: First Stay: I was terrified when I first went to rehab. My marriage was on the brink, and I was completely lost. Arriving at Live Oaks Wellness in Novato, California, was a relief. The facility, set on a beautiful private property with serene hills, a peaceful garden, a basketball court, and a swimming pool, felt like a haven. The staff welcomed me with care and compassion. Tim, the head of medical, became a trusted friend, guiding me through detox and beyond. My private room was like a hotel suite—comfortable and equipped with everything I needed to unwind. Once detox was over, I joined the other five residents. With only six people at a time, the experience was intimate. The facility had endless snacks, entertainment, and a huge TV to relax with. The daily schedule was full of therapy, physical activities, and support meetings. Each day started with a check-in and ended with reflection, keeping me grounded. The relationships I formed were unforgettable. The residents are carefully screened, ensuring a positive environment. After 30 days, I felt transformed, and they helped set me up with aftercare to continue my recovery. Second Stay: After 265 days sober, my life fell apart. My wife and I lost our second baby, and hours later, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. I relapsed, and the next two months were a nightmare. My wife helped me reconnect with Jack, and I re-entered Live Oaks. The relapse wasn’t the program’s fault but my failure to maintain the practices I learned. Returning was the wake-up call I needed. The second stay was even better than the first. The program had expanded with new therapies and in-person meetings. Frequent outings to the ocean and nature walks helped me reconnect with the world. It was a game-changer after Zoom meetings in my first stay. This time, I experienced a profound spiritual awakening and discovered a higher purpose I never knew existed. I don’t see my relapse as failure but as part of my journey. Live Oaks helped me become a better, stronger version of myself. Live Oaks is more than just rehab. It’s a place where lives are rebuilt, and people rediscover their strength. If you're considering treatment, I can’t recommend them enough.

Accepted Insurance

Live Oaks Wellness works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.
telehealth iconTelehealth
Using telehealth options in California allows you to share health information with your provider via phone call, video chat, or healthcare apps. You can meet with them virtually as well as submit health information online so they can track your progress without having to meet with them in person.

Treatments

Alcoholism, or alcohol use disorder (AUD), is defined by alcohol dependence. This is a state the body reaches when it experiences withdrawal symptoms in the absence of alcohol. A person who has AUD craves alcohol and continues to drink despite adverse consequences. Because withdrawing from alcohol can pose health risks, individuals with AUD should seek professional alcohol rehab in California to overcome their alcohol addiction. This process typically involves medical detox, rehabilitation, and maintenance.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

In California, dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs offer comprehensive care for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Programs include medically assisted detox, intensive outpatient, outpatient, residential rehab, and partial hospitalization. Using an evidence-based approach, clinicians utilize therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, or dialectical behavioral therapy and mindfulness to address substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health challenges. Additional services include 12-Step recovery, group therapy, family counseling, and relapse prevention to promote sustained recovery.

Inpatient treatment for drug and alcohol addiction with a focus on mental health is a good fit for people who need closer monitoring and care. Treatment may occur in a hospital setting, a clinic, or a luxury rehab center. Mental health counselors and staff are available 24/7. Therapies typically include group and individual counseling, relapse prevention education, and emotional coping skills training.

mental-health iconMental Health And Substance Abuse
opium iconOpioid Addiction

In California, substance abuse treatment programs can help individuals with any type of substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. These rehab programs typically encompass various levels of care, including medically assisted detox, intensive outpatient, outpatient, residential rehab, and partial hospitalization. You can expect clinicians to utilize evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness to help you achieve and sustain your recovery. The rehab's clinical team can provide a comprehensive assessment to determine the appropriate level of care and medical support you may need.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.

Individual therapy for drug addiction includes a customized treatment plan that considers your history and life circumstances. During your therapy sessions, the therapist helps you uncover underlying issues and triggers for addictive behavior that support a holistic approach to recovery.

During group therapy, men and women learn to express their emotions openly in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and reduces feelings of social isolation that are often associated with addiction.

The use of experiential therapy can be helpful for the treatment of behavioral disorders, including drug and alcohol addiction. This method teaches you how to release negative emotions and cope with pain from the past. Activities such as art, music, and animal care are used to facilitate this process.

Family therapy offers a platform for members to have an open dialogue about the challenges that addiction has placed on the family unit. Through guided sessions, therapists can help families develop healthy communication skills and address unresolved issues. By working together toward a common goal, they help to support their loved one's sobriety.

Substances can prevent the absorption of nutrients and cause damage to your body's systems. Nutrition therapy in California addresses the deficiencies in vitamins and minerals that are caused by substance abuse.

While in rehab treatment, you may work on developing various life skills to help you in long term recovery. These may include resilience, interpersonal skills, and self awareness. The focus will be on developing healthy habits for self care and relationships so you have the skills you need to manage day to day life.

Recreational therapy is included in alcohol and drug addiction treatment to focus on engaging you in healthy activities that reduce your cravings and improve your overall health and well being. When you participate in group sports, art, or nature walks, you develop new interests and find a meaningful way to spend your time and reduce your cravings.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

Live Oaks Wellness was a life-changing program for me. Having tried to kick my habits on my own and failed many times, professional treatment/detox was needed. The staff welcomed clients with open arms and hearts, ready to help in any way they can. They were knowledgeable and kind to each individual. The smaller setting of only 6 clients at a time was less intimidating to first-time treatment goers like myself, and made the detox process comfortable with private rooms (and your own TV), a swimming pool, on-site chef, basketball court and communal living space filled with healthy snacks and drinks for clients. They offered fitness classes with a wonderful instructor, nutrition classes, somatic therapy, and took clients to AA meetings 2x/week, making the sober way of life appealing and easy to implement in your life once discharged. I truly cannot thank the staff and program enough for the care provided during one of the most difficult times of my life.

Live Oaks is an amazing place to recover. They offer a beautiful intimate setting in a house of only 6 Clients at a given time. Counselors, individualized therapy, a personal trainer, personal Chef and a nutritionist are all part of the recovery experience. Private, comfortable and spacious rooms are given to each person. No doubles here!!!! The house is clean, the grounds are well kept and the travel vehicle is new. The owner is on site most days and makes himself available to the Clients for support and encouragement. I highly recommend Live Oaks Wellness!! 100%!!!

Live Oaks is amazing, the staff and counselors are knowledgeable. The program is very structured, which was what I needed. Our sessions were knowledgeable and helped me learn a lot about myself and my disease. The house and grounds are so peaceful , just what I needed for my recovery. Back, the owner will listen to you if go to him with a problem, he has been in the business for a long time. I went willingly, but I was not always willing. I stayed for almost 30 days and I have to say I am glad I did. Live Oaks gave me the foundation needed to start my sobriety journey. I am now 8 1/2 months sober and living my genuine life. I would recommend this facility to anyone out there who is struggling.

I was admitted to Live Oaks Wellness in the beginning of 11/2023 in really bad shape from my alcoholism and was immediately impressed by the kindness and care the staff provided me. This was my 6th detox/rehab in 2yrs and it was be far my best experience. I can’t say enough good things about the owner, Jack, the staff, the chef and the house/ living arrangements. Recovery program is top notch also. Thanks Live Oaks, you saved my life! Gregg

Live Oaks is a great place to focus on yourself in a calm, clean and private space. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, which allows you to focus. It's small and personal and the food is quite good. The location of the house is ideal, outdoor space is serene, you will see deer and hawks hovering above the property. Don't hesitate to give them a call.

The staff of Live Oaks Wellness represent what I can only describe as Truth, Love & Light. I've been to quite a many treatment centers unfortunately, however that rocky path lead me to these people at Live Oaks who just loved me back to life, I didn't know it was possible. I'll remain forever Grateful to these Men and Women. I owe my life to them. I encourage anyone seeking a way out of the darkness of addiction or alcoholism to call Live Oaks Wellness. Justin H.
