Some individuals do not deserve to work at any hospital Christina was my nurse and she was awful, made fun of my pain while there. I asked her to go away and bring another nurse due to her attitude I didn t wanted for her to touch or treat me but yet she sit there and explain there is no way to switch or get another nurse. Now that, I m better I feel like I need to tell the public that it is not okay to get treated unfair and with hate. Stand up for your self. My pain was not to be laughed at! I m great full I m better but the experience was awful

Had a small surgery done yesterday and EVERYBODY there was amazin! From the lady when i first walked in the main entrance, all the way to the lady that pushed me out to the car at the end. I mean just super nice and smiley. Dr. Aalto is amazin. I just love her! Shes so nice and smiley and then Shameka at the surgery registration area, she was amazin as well. So helpful and smiley and nice to every single person that came thru there. The anesthesiologist Dr. Sojka was amazin as well, he showed allot of compassion and made jokes to lighten the mood. I mean just everybody yesterday was amazin. A smile really does go a long ways! I appreciate yall and everything yall do! Thanks a bunch! Goin to the hospital is never fun but this was definitely the best experience I've ever personally had at a hospital before!

*** UPDATE *** My mom ultimately was hospitalized two more times since this event. Most recently in ICU. The ER, CT, ICU, labs, RX and case management team/liaison were absolutely wonderful. They were clear and open with us about our options care wise and plans for her care in the future, even if it wasn t in this county. The teams understood the disease and were very kind and gentle when needing to do labs, tests, etc. Called both my father and I with any new information, even if it was no news , spoke to both of us in person as well to make sure we were all on the same page on what s the best option for my mom. Not once did we feel pressured in choosing any treatment options and felt supported moving forward in her care.RN Brenda is who was onsite for most of the admission, and she was so kind, understanding and informative through out the entire process.I ll be forever thankful for the care that was provided and respect for my mom who can t advocate for herself anymore. All patients deserve that!~~~~~~My mom was brought in via ambulance from piedmont nursing home. She suffers from Alzheimer s and was having trouble swallowing, the home made the call to have her brought in out of precautionMy father and I came after driving up from Mooresville, upon entering her room(approximately 7:30pm) she was ALONE, NO sitter, no fall risk bands on her at all, not being monitored. I was furious and immediately said SHES ALONE WHERES HER SITTER? And the nurse who brought us to the room said unfortunately due to staffing ** listen, I get it, I understand-healthcare settings ARE NOT a foreign concept to me. But not having a sitter or at least admitting her to an open/clear paned room is asking for trouble as she IS STILL MOBILE **The charge nurse (not scrubbed, wearing just a Novant tshirt) and phlebotomist that evening were rough with her arm taking her blood, blood was spilled on the floor, and even had to be told there was a needle and cap on the floor. To be completely honest, I am not even sure her blood results were accurate, my father and I were there from 7:30ish pm to midnight and 4 out of supposedly 6 vials were left on the desk the entire time, separating. The original nurse who told us about the staffing issue came in to administer Ativan (after I specifically said she is prescribed CLONAZEPAM) to attempt to give her a ct didn t seem to notice the vials as he verified her demos for the 3 injections. he was VERY SWEET with my mother and did his best to keep her calm. The ct tech was great, understood her disease enough to get the scan completed. My mom had an accident during the scan, she told us she would ask for someone to come in an help dry/change/give her a gown. No one ever came, it was over an hour after due to the dr (who was also nice) coming in and dxing her before dc. We were told an ambulance would be HOURS as there was only one for the entire county I had to use several towels, try and help original nurse wheel her backwards (20 weeks pregnant mind you), and get her in the truck after my dad pulled around the front. Her nursing home is 8 minutes away from the facility.I would give the initial impression 1 star for leaving her alone, with no safety wristbands on, in a room down a hall. (#5), not helping her be cleaned, given a gown with a new adult diaper (thankfully her accident was only #1) the original nurse being kind to us and her, the ct technician being gentle wheeling her and getting the scan completed, and the doctor for actually explaining her dx helped.PLEASE provide proper care and supervision for your patients as I am sure without a doubt my mother isn t the first or the last to come from a nearby nursing facility with ailments and disabilities making verbalizing what is wrong difficult for them in an unknown place.

Accepted Insurance

Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients who are exiting detox or stepping down from intensive inpatient care typically transition directly into outpatient treatment. Outpatient programs are designed to allow clients to either re-enter or remain in their communities while receiving robust, personalized care. Many facilities offer evening, night, or weekend services to accommodate clients' home and work schedules. The most common outpatient treatment modalities include psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients receiving treatment at an inpatient rehab facility are typically in early recovery or are at heightened risk of relapse. Clients in inpatient care remain at the facility for the duration of their program, enabling them to focus solely on their recovery. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive psychotherapy, often including group and family counseling as well as one-on-one sessions. Recovery-focused life skills education is another common service. Many rehabs also offer evidence-based holistic therapies.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer a complete continuum of care for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery and are predicated on the idea that addiction disease is a chronic condition prone to relapse and warranting continuing care. Clients collaborate with their care team and case manager to access the specific rehab aftercare services they need to promote their sustained sobriety. Peer coaching, relapse prevention services, career counseling, and 12 step program induction are common in these programs.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
A medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive drugs and alcohol from your body. A team of licensed medical professionals will look after you 24/7 to monitor your health, help minimize discomfort, and provide medications if necessary to alleviate any withdrawal symptoms. This process is typically the first step in your recovery and may take around 5-7 days, although length will depend on your individual needs.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Clients who receive cognitive behavioral therapy in North Carolina typically attend five to 20 sessions. During this time, they work with their therapist to learn healthier patterns of thinking, which can help them change their behavior related to substance use.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

During nutrition therapy in North Carolina, you'll work with a nutritionist to develop a dietary plan. Medical professionals will provide input based on your health needs. You'll learn to create goals for nutrition and develop the skills you need to meet them.

You can participate in creative arts therapy in a variety of settings. Options include medical institutions, rehab facilities, and therapists' offices. Sessions are held in individual and group formats. Types of therapy include music, drama, dance, and painting.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Most doctors here are very caring and nice to patients, the food is not great but is average. The main problems here are staff related, because only a few care, the other ones take way too much time to help you out and get you what you need. The service, most of the times, i ... Read More

We are here now and the place is absolutely swamped! The hall is full, the lobby is full, the triage is full, all the rooms are full and they have us in a hall with another lady waiting for a room. My daughter is 14 and being seen for possible appendix issues. The staff is doing absolutely everything their two arms will possibly let them to help folks. There is a boy (I’ll call him that cause he acts like a child) demanding a room above all others, constantly walking back to other people’s rooms, invading their privacy, inserting himself into their treatment all because he didn’t get to his methadone dose this morning. He is so rude and so disrespectful yet these people have maintained their patience and professionalism. They have absolutely killed it getting to these folks as quickly as possible, efficiently and promptly as possible

I just returned home from Behavorial Health at Thomasville Medical Center after a one week stay. I can honestly say I feel much much better and ready to take on the problems I had prior to my visit. The entire staff at the facility were fantastic. The counselors were all very supportive and provided me with the necessary tools I needed in order leave and be successful. The nurses starting with Amanda were the first line of defense. She set me on the right path from day one, as to what to expect and how to succeed. My personal councelor Shauna asked very intelligent and thought provking questions that helped me open up and gave her a clear perspective on what I was going thru how we would proceed for my recovery. Last, but certainly not least and very crucial were the other patients that I encourtered while there. They shared their own journey of recovery and just listening to them gave me the strenght to get better. The only down side were things that the staff didn't have much control over which is the limited food menu, the lack of medical beds, the occassional changing of assigned rooms, and be able to choose which groups you want to have Group Therapy with. Beyond that I had no complaints because I knew each day I was gettting better. It's a great facility with a dedicated staff that truly want to make a difference. If could give them 10 stars I would. Thank you for being there for me.

I don’t know what kind of operators work here but I misdialed this number looking for another novant medical facility and spoke with an operator who had a very miserable condescending tone. I am sorry to have misdialed but I am pregnant and up at 8am trying to get to an appointment and she just keeps asking what department instead of clarifying I have the wrong facility and then giggles after letting me know I called the wrong place. Weird behavior for someone working at a hospital. I strongly urge to investigate the attitude and character of these folks since their decisions could impact the health and longevity of someone’s life

If you want to be treated like you’re subhuman go to this hospital! I’ve been a couple of times but the last two times were so upsetting. The night shift staff is so mean. They look at you with disdain and disgust almost. They stay on their phones most of the time or chatting and ignore you for the most part. The doctor I had both two times sent me home without doing anything! He knows of my history with colitis and still did not care! Twice have I gone to him and he just diagnoses me with abdominal pain. Two days later went to an urgent care in Archdale and they diagnosed me with a colitis infection and immediately sent antibiotics to my pharmacy. They only care about the money here and will not take your concerns and health seriously!
