About Oakwood Springs

They also address co-occurring disorders. This is when someone is simultaneously dealing with both mental health and substance use disorders. Their substance use recovery program includes medical detox, inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient care. Both inpatient rehab and detox are two aspects of inpatient recovery that occur at their clinic. This highly structured and therapeutic environment facilitates safe recovery.

Their comprehensive inpatient care starts with assessment and individualized treatment planning. This is followed by detox and inpatient rehabilitation therapy. Detox weans you off addiction related toxins that are in your body in preparation for the main therapy. It involves stabilization with 24/7 monitoring by their medical staff. These experts may administer medication to minimize withdrawal symptoms. This ensures your withdrawal is safe and comfortable. This facility even offers acute stabilization for suicidal patients and those experiencing hallucinations.

Their detox takes between three to 10 days and is followed by intensive inpatient rehabilitation therapy. You can receive therapy for co-occurring conditions at this stage. This program integrates the 12 Step model and evidence based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and motivational interviewing. These are delivered in a group, individual and family format. You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with peers through NA and AA meetings. They even incorporate holistic practices like relaxation, yoga and music/art therapy. This promotes whole person treatment that heals the body, soul and spirit.

After inpatient care, you can step down to either of their outpatient programs. This can be partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient care. The partial hospitalization program is more structured and requires more therapy sessions. You’ll participate in up to 12 hours of therapy daily, five days a week. Services include wellness education, recreational activities and medication management. You’ll also participate in family and group meetings focused on helping you build solid coping strategies.

You can consider their intensive outpatient program if you don’t want the intensity of the partial hospitalization program. This program lasts three to five days a week and involves three hours of therapy daily. It involves supervised medication management, education classes and life skill training. You’ll also participate in individual talk therapy or support meetings.

Their aftercare services include alumni support groups for ongoing support. They may also connect you to other community resources like meetings for AA or NA.

I spent 28 days at Oakwood Springs, and my experience was complex. The staff members I encountered were generally good people working very hard under a difficult corporate structure. Unfortunately, corporate policies and systemic issues undermined the quality of care at times. For example, I personally witnessed patients being denied basic necessities such as period products due to strict rule interpretations, while corporate itself often disregarded its own rules. Money was thrown at expensive cars like an escalade that says "MrBeast", instead of new bathrooms. The food service was also limited, despite the kitchen staff working tirelessly and always greeting patients with a smile. With the dishwasher broken, I know from personal experience how difficult that makes a kitchen run, yet they still held everything together admirably. As an optometrist and now prior active army military, I can see the structural issues clearly: staffing shortages, inconsistent policy enforcement, and at times a culture where individuals felt superior to others rather than working collaboratively. Problems were often not addressed through the proper chain of command, and in my own case, I was spoken to disrespectfully by a nurse at one of my lowest points. No patient should be told to “shut up” when seeking care. I hope leadership takes this seriously, as such behavior requires close monitoring and accountability. That said, I want to recognize the many positive influences during my stay. The two Lauryns, Joseph in music therapy (the best therapist I had), Kelsy, Hannah, Day Day, Kam (both), Falisha, Emmett, and Hunter all stood out for their compassion and impact. Dr. A consistently took my side when I felt caught between the facility and military demands, and the Heroes group materials (addiction, trauma, and mental health books) were invaluable. The shot of Invega I received stabilized me and contributed greatly to my recovery. Ultimately, I forgive those who wronged me, because my symptoms have resolved and I am stable now. I am grateful for the skills I learned at Oakwood Springs—skills that helped me manage myself even when the Army tried to detain me after discharge. To the CEO, thank you for having an open-door policy and for allowing feedback like this. I truly hope that resources are being reallocated to fix the broken infrastructure and poor staffing so that future patients receive the level of care they deserve. Oakwood Springs has the potential to be excellent. The frontline staff care deeply, but they need better support, consistency, and accountability from corporate leadership to match their effort.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Inpatient rehabs provide extra support for clients in early recovery and those at a high risk of relapse. They allow clients to focus on their sobriety safe from outside distractions, stressors, and addiction triggers. Clients reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, where they receive extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Many programs also offer robust life skills training and holistic therapies, such as meditation.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Clients enrolled in rehab aftercare programs have typically completed weeks or months of intensive treatment, often in inpatient detox and/or rehab centers, and may be receiving outpatient care. Drug rehab aftercare is designed to approach recovery as a life-long process. Clients and their case managers and care teams typically work together to formulate clients' continuing care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program facilitation, among other services.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs invoke spiritual principles to promote participants' psychological and emotional growth and healing, though religious affiliation is not required. Their primary treatment modalities include intensive peer support and recovery-focused life skills training based on the 12 steps of recovery. Participants regularly engage in peer-led group meetings, which are free, anonymous, and available throughout the day and night in most communities. Sponsors provide one-on-one mentoring as participants cultivate self-awareness, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

A drug intervention in Oklahoma can be an effective tool for a loved one who's struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. Intervention services include trained interventionists to help families plan and carry out an intervention with their loved one. It is often helpful to involve a non-partial expert in this highly emotional process. The interventionist provides expert insight and can recommend the best course of treatment for the individual and family.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Oklahoma is highly recommended for those beginning recovery. As your body detoxes, withdrawal from substances such as alcohol, benzos, and opiates can cause severe physical symptoms. Health risks include seizures, hallucinations, heart palpitations, and severe dehydration. A clinical setting offers 24/7 medical care to treat these symptoms and make the detox process more comfortable.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

The safest way to remove addictive substances from your body after you've become physically dependent is through a medically assisted detox. Usually performed in an inpatient setting, a team of licensed medical professionals are tasked with monitoring your health and helping to minimize the risks and physical discomfort caused by withdrawal symptoms. Medically assisted detox is often the first step in the recovery process. After your body is safely free of substances, you'll likely transition to an inpatient treatment program to continue your recovery.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

To address the issues of addiction, each drug rehab in Oklahoma is tailored to meet the individual's needs. Treatment may occur in a residential or outpatient setting, and may last from a few days to several months.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Couples therapy often focuses on a specific problem, such as addiction, intimacy, jealousy, or finances. Treatment is solution focused and change oriented. The couple works with the therapist to identify goals for therapy and actively participates in learning skills and behaviors to reach those goals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Without proper life skills, it is difficult to build a path to a better future. Life skills training gives you the tools you need to gain control of daily life and face challenges head on. This makes life skills training a crucial part of recovery programs in Oklahoma.

I urge anymore to not go to this place at all and be careful of anything you say as they will take it and use it to milk you for insurance money. This place basically kidnapped me and forced me to take drugs, despite this being legal as I was EOD'd, I feel it should be illegal and the treatment did nothing but intensity my problems. I repeatedly said the treatment would do this and no one listened and instead they forced me to stay in a prison for 23 days. I had to lie to leave. I decided it would be best to try and thank you for the sad attempt though as I think it would help me feel a little better about east transpired so... Thanks for nothing and making all my problems worse despite thinking you were making them better. Thanks for forcing a treatment that never worked for me onto me and magically expecting me to feel better. Thanks for forcing drugs into my system that made me feel worse and only answering with more drugs. Thanks for not listening to my complaints and ignoring my human rights. Thanks for not doing anything to help and instead only harming me to the point my career is in shambles. Thanks for making me more likely to act if I ever was threatened with returning to this prison. I genuinely hate everything this place stands for. If you're looking for help and group therapy isn't your thing they will force it on you anyways. I'm not looking for an apology, in fact I would prefer no response as I want my medical infornation that you decided to just fabricate to be private. I'm looking for action because there wasn't any and I feel robbed of my rights and worse. I live each day unable to perform because of this place. Again, I actually hate this place and I urge anyone to just not come here they will not help you if you don't perform with group therapy. Extra points if you already have a therapist and they get jealous. I seriously have no real way to rationalize the way I was treated other than they felt they were helping even though I actively told them they weren't.

This place was extremely helpful and comfortable and I bonded with a lot of people. There was one hiccup with a night shift male nurse who refused to contact my doctor knowing my gastric issues and autoimmune disease history, I suffered for hours with a gastroparesis episode which has to be treated in the hospital, I ended up at the hospital two other times due to these complications and he wouldn't even call my doctor.

During my stay at Oakwood Springs, TJ stood out as one of the most genuine and supportive staff members I’ve ever met. He treated everyone with respect and went above and beyond to help in any way he could. TJ took the time to talk with me about past experiences, which really motivated me to stay away from alcohol and continue on my recovery journey. Rex was also an incredible help, always showing kindness and providing the support I needed during difficult moments. Together, they truly made a positive impact on my time there, and I’m grateful for everything they did.

In my now 14 years of working in Behavioral Health in both the private sector and DOC,I've learned that when it comes to restructuring, molding, and effectively giving the best chance of success moving forward for your clients the overall staff(nurse's, doctors, therapist, and technicians)are critical and truly what makes the difference and has the most impact in helping to redirect the lives of our clientele. Here at Oakwood Springs we probably have the BEST core group of staff that I've ever had the privilege of working with in my entire career in the BH industry. I hear it every day from my clients how much of a impact that we make/have in there lives and know without a doubt that we do truly make a difference.

Response from the owner
