I gave birth here and had a good experience other than 2 nurses. 1 didn t help me at all while I was freshly postpartum getting out of bed or to the bathroom. She also wouldn t respond to me when I spoke to her. My room also wasn t stocked. Another nurse was mean. She said she would throw out my medicine if I don t take it. She also referred to my shoes as stinky. This nurse also told me I can t take anything from my room. I didn t get much to take home.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
The Texas Health Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Programs are for individuals needing a structured therapy program that offers counseling and education in a group setting. Clinicians work with physicians on the medical staff to provide daily support and a safe place to talk, learn problem-solving skills and practice stress-reduction techniques. Texas Health Behavioral Health also offers the following Specialized Intensive Outpatient Programs: Women, young adult and working professionals.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

I wouldn’t have enough time or space to give my experience and details. I had the WORST experience all the way around. Doctors are never available, all the nurses literally talk crap about what the other said, they leave you in pain and danger until you lose your cool and ask to be transferred to a new hospital. The ONLY nurse that was amazing was Reba, obviously she couldn’t be there by my side or with me the whole time. They genuinely treat you like a number, used and dirty baby warmer for when your baby arrives, they will straight up tell you they are short staffed and try and call a doctor for their opinion, ended up in a c section and put under after realizing me and my baby were in danger WHICH I kept advising that the monitor was going off for his heartbeat, I hemorrhaged, got an infection, and never was told what the “plan” was, I have some serious PTSD from this hospital! please do not use this hospital!

My husband was injured on his job and was rushed by ambulance to Harris Methodist HEB , he had a industrial dolly filled with (6) six foot long tables collapse while loading it on a lift in a truck , the full load fell on his head and crushed his finger breaking it and hurt his head and neck , he called me and said the ambulance was transporting him to Harris Methodist HEB and I told him I was on my way… I called Harris on the way there and confirmed that he had arrived and was in Rm. 4 , my mom rode with me and when we arrived at the ER , I spoke with the clerk telling her my name ,my husbands name and the rm number , she said they had no one by that name at the hospital ! I told her I had talked with him and had even called ahead she maintained that there was no one by that name ! I called my husband and thank the Lord his boss was in there with him because he came out and found me …. This clerk bluntly and blatantly lied several times to me !! I asked the nurse that was in the room with him what type of protocol do they have to lie to patients family ? (She told me they were very sorry they were doing some test with new hires !) I’ve worked in a ER myself in the past and never ever would we lie to ppl about their loved ones ! Is this how Harris Methodist HEB Hospital trains their new hires at the expense of their patients and families?

Nurses and doctor was very sweet. And informative. Gave me snacks, water and the X ray guy, was very sweet. Tried to make me laugh. And cheer me up. I really was scared. It was embarrassing One of the firemen with a group of 5 men, laughed when i was having a panic attack, bc i thought i choked on peanut butter, protein shake.

Gave birth on Oct 3, 2024! Had an amazing experience health care wise. My body didn’t cooperate so needed a c section my choice! Room and ward were so beautiful and clean and cozy! From the moment I was admitted to when I left everyone was kind and friendly and attentive. I’m 40 and this is my first baby and I was scared excited an nervous! Shot out to the absolute BEST OBGYN Dr. Richard Wagner! Also can’t remember her name but they have An amazing midwife there too. I would definitely deliver here again!

If you have an emergency or need medical attention, do not go to this hospital. "Doctor Lee" raised several concerns violating HIPAA Information Disclosure after treatment, and blatantly misrepresenting test results to rest of care team. Patient arrived catatonic with seizures and was admitted to ER. After several tests and emergency procedures to stabilize patient, "Doctor Lee" dismissed patient from ER with recommendations that nothing was wrong despite concerning EKG results and patient lack of motor function. "Doctor Lee" further provided false information to patient and their PCP regarding the results of testing completed. "Doctor Lee" shows a level of knowledge and care that resulted in negligent action for treatment. Patient's health has significantly declined since visiting this hospital, and doctors in more trustworthy networks have since confirmed that the symptoms presenting during the first hospital visit were very obvious indicators for neurological dysfunction and disorder. Caring about your health and understanding the level of treatment you will receive is very important, this hospital and "Doctor Lee" will not help you with any concerns related to treatment or recovery.

The ER Doctor for Labor & Delivery ( a bald older white male doctor ) was very mean and belittling to his nurses it made me super uncomfortable when he started treating me he was the same way it made me never want to come back even though I was scheduled for a C-section just a week later .. however when I went in for my csection the staff was amazing ! I stayed 6 days do to complications Anesthesiologist - Drew was amazing he sat next to my while my surgery took place & just eased my mind & tried to distract me so I wasn’t such a nervous wreck . My night nurse Bailey 🤩🫶🏼 was Amazing 10000/10 she was super attentive, knowledgeable, caring I never felt like a bother to her she was truly a Godsend . I felt so cared for loved & well taken care of she really deserves a raise I had a tech - Beth who was very aggressive & yanked my arm when trying to help me off the bed . my fiancé told her to please never handle me like that again i was fresh out of surgery , she said I needed to hurry up . smh I reported her and the hospital made sure she never came in my room again . Nurse Ashleigh was my absolute favorite ! she checked on me so often whether I called her or not , she was always helpful you can tell she loves her jobs she was sweet silly and answered any question or concern I had . Nurse Lawonza & Tech Latoya were the sweetest they stayed on top of my medication hours made me feel so good about my progress and I just felt peace each time they came in my room My baby was in the NICU for a week as well and that was such a hard and scary experience but Nurse Abigail made me feel comfortable knowing baby gonzalez was really cared for I went in multiple times & she was talking to her / singing to her / holding her it made me happy knowing she was getting some sort of love and stimulation not just laying there being ignored . She gave me so many updates and explained everything so detailed I knew she was in great hands when Abigail was there . Nurse Savannah was so sweet and was so attentive to me and Baby . Nurse Delaney was also super amazing The only NICU nurse I had an issue with was I believe Tara or something with a T - short orange pixie cut . I was told by a morning nurse baby was going to receive a sponge bath / wipe down and I would be called when it happened so I could be apart of it & she can wear one of the outfits we have for her time passed & I was never called I did visit with baby throughout the day come 230 am I went to the RR and also went to check on her & the nurse had just finished her wipe down I was heartbroken 😔 even though it was a wipe down it was a special moment that I felt was taken from me I have no idea why she decided to do it at 230 AM and not earlier in her night shift or early morning before her shift was over that was super weird to me . & the outift we chose wasn’t even put on her it was a NICU outfit I asked if I could change her she said “ she’s already been yelling at me for 30 min because of the bath , I’m sure she’s hungry so we can feed her since she’s hungry or let her cry and change her “ of course I chose to feed her 😕 fast forward a few days I’m released baby’s still in the NICU I call for an update around 3 am and it’s this same nurse and she said she just got done bathing her and feeding her - Again the timing is just super weird to me ..

Listen, if I could give zero stars I would. Let me start by stating I was a high risk pregnancy due to the premature birth of my last child and I made this known each time I checked into the hospital. I came to this hospital at 21 weeks pregnant complaining that I was concerned that I had lost my mucus plug. I was laughed at and mocked and was sent home with the Dr saying it was just leftover sperm from intercourse the night before except it could not have been, and I was clear with her about that. I came back in November 28th this time 23 weeks, complaining about severe abdominal cramps and clots. I was hooked up to monitors and was told that they’re going to monitor my symptoms. I laid in that bed in tears and panic for HOURS. I was told I was being sent home with a prescription for a UTI and that everything was fine. I argued and said “something is wrong, I’m not leaving” the Dr came in and said “we will do an ultrasound to give you peace of mind since you’re worried about the baby” this is after I argued because his heartbeat kept dropping and I was told “it’s just a variable”… Thank God for that ultrasound tech because honestly if it weren’t for her I wouldn’t have known just how incompetent this place really is. The tech came in and began the ultrasound and only had one swipe across my belly and put her tools away and asked if they had done a pelvic exam. When I told her no she excused herself, went to the other side of the curtain and asked the nurse “yall didn’t do a pelvic exam?” To which the nurse said “no” the tech then stated in a super urgent tone of voice “you need to do one now” In less than 5 minutes the dr was down in the ER to do the exam and in less than 30 seconds said “oh my god that’s a foot” next thing I know I’m being rushed into an emergency C-Section scared confused and not fully understanding the gravity of all the things that are happening. I woke up from the c section just over an hour after they pulled my baby out and he was already gone. I never got to hold him, I didn’t get to see him alive at all. And it is all because of the ER staff had taken my concerns seriously instead of being dismissive I fully believe with my whole heart my son would still be alive. When I filed a complaint with the hospital they conducted an investigation which basically backed the dr that laughed at me up because she said in her interview “I would never laugh at a patient” I can assure you she did in fact laugh at me and then argued with me and made me feel small when I told her it couldn’t have been semen. In addition the poor ultrasound technician got in trouble because I heard what she had said to the nurses. This hospital is just trying to cover their own butt and they don’t care about the quality of care provided to patients. But they will… my husband I will make sure of it. I’ve made it my personal mission to assure this kind of neglect doesn’t happen to the next person.

I can only speak to our experience but my 89 year old mother had to be admitted and the doctor, Dr. Obinabo, went above and beyond what could ever be expected from a doctor. My sister thought she was absolutely amazing. Eventually, my mother ended up in ICU where she passed. Her nurse, Katelyn (not sure on spelling), was an angel. Her empathy and compassion showed her true colors that this was her calling. Nobody can do that at any price because she's priceless. Dr. Obinabo and Katelyn may be the exception but they are nothing less than a Godsend. If we could all be lucky enough in our last days to have people like them to care for us. We cannot thank them enough.

Post partum experience. Idk why but it was normalized to come in around 4 am while me and baby are sleep right after giving birth. This one nurse (black. Don’t know her name) decided to call cps on me because I had an attitude with HER not my child. Pls grow up and do better.
