I want to give a big Thank You to such an amazing and caring staff at this great health institution. We were vacationing in this beautiful state when my wife became suddenly ill. The paramedics took my wife to this hospital and from there she was admitted, I knew right away that she was in good hands, everyone was kind and attentive towards my wife and to me. Honestly, I was so greatly impressed with the care and the attention. Not even in my home sate I've been treated so kindly. My special thanks to the doctors and nurses with the Clinical Decision Unit 2nd floor. Thank You Monika, Angelica, Lindie and Dr. Garza. God bless everyone.

I’ve always respected the care we’ve gotten at HEB Harris Methodist but not on the 30 th of July because of a condescending nurse. If I could give a rating less than one star. I would.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

inpatient iconInpatient

Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

The Texas Health Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Programs are for individuals needing a structured therapy program that offers counseling and education in a group setting. Clinicians work with physicians on the medical staff to provide daily support and a safe place to talk, learn problem-solving skills and practice stress-reduction techniques. Texas Health Behavioral Health also offers the following Specialized Intensive Outpatient Programs: Women, young adult and working professionals.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

I had surgery for an ectopic Pregnacy last year in October and everyone was so compassionate and hands on they literally didn't miss a beat when it came to making sure my needs were met and that I was comfortable. I also have very small veins so it's always a hassle whenever I have to get blood drawn but not here ☺️ everyone was gentle and made it quick and easy which I appreciate very much . The kindness I experienced here was Very heartwarming 💕 there is a Excellent staff at this hospital Keep being great 👍 😌

We are so impressed with this hospital and the people working there ( unfortunate that we have been there enough to know). We have always had a good experience and do not wish to go to any other hospital. It's clean, they are quick to take care of you, the doctors really know what they are doing and have surprised us several times over with their knowledge and attentive discipline. The nurses are the best! I can't say enough about how great this hospital really is.

Response from the owner

Today is a sad day for me. I lost my dear husband. During these 24 days, I thank several nurses who sincerely took care of my husband. I didn't remember their names. But I remembered your appearance. My husband is in stage 4 cancer. In addition, he was infected with lungs during the treatment. On the second day, my husband was very energetic, just like before. On the third and fourth days, the doctor told him that he could eat. He recovered very well. But at 4:30 in the morning of the fifth day, the nurse found that my husband was breathing rapidly and a lot of blood came out of the infusion port on his right chest. The nurse spent two hours cleaning and adding fluids before he calmed down. But my husband didn't talk much. And his breathing was always rapid. From then on, the doctor didn't let him eat. He was given a nutrient solution every day. On the 7th day of treatment, the attending doctor recommended hospice care for my husband. But when I During the conversation with the hospice nurse, she told me that hospice care would replace morphine with death within 24 to 48 hours. I was very angry and refused her. At my request, the doctor gave my husband intravenous treatment. In the next ten days, he got better day by day. He could watch TV and call my name. Sometimes he spoke to me briefly. But every day the doctor came to the ward and recommended hospice care. The hospice nurse came to me and asked me to sign three times. I refused every time. Two weeks passed. The attending doctor asked my husband to be discharged from the hospital. He said that the treatment was over. First, he could be discharged, and second, he could go to hospice. She said that hospice makes patients comfortable. The next day, the hospice nurse came to me again. She said that 1. hospice is based on the patient's condition. Some people can live a long time with hospice and it also makes the patient feel better. People don't have to suffer. I believed her. She lied. I signed at 2 pm on July 23. At 2:30 pm, the nurse removed all the hospital's medicine and replaced it with morphine sulfate. After a while, my husband fell asleep and slept soundly. The next morning, a male doctor came and I asked him why my husband slept after receiving the morphine. He said that my husband slept because he felt comfortable. They were all liars. In fact, the morphine took my husband's life. I was fooled. I was deceived by them. I took a picture of the morphine, which expired on July 29. My husband received the morphine in the afternoon of July 25. He died at 4:35 pm on July 28. Since then, my husband has not felt comfortable at all. He woke up with rapid breathing and groaning during the process. The doctor said that he would fall asleep and the pain would go away if the dosage was increased. At that time, I knew I was fooled. I was deceived But it was impossible to recover. My husband needed to be given more morphine so that he could sleep and stop moaning. So I gave him more morphine. After a night, my husband slept the next day, but his blood pressure and heart rate all dropped. He looked like he was dead. The doctor and the hospice nurse came to the ward to see my husband. They all thought they were doing a good job. I regretted it so much. Why did I believe them? Maybe they did this immoral thing for their own performance at work. He stopped breathing at 4:35 pm that day. A person who could still talk and watch TV was cruelly killed. I would like to ask the doctor and the hospice nurse, if your family member has cancer and is not dying, would you give your family member morphine to make them die quickly? Hospice care can only be used to give morphine to a dying person. My husband only has stage 4 cancer and lung infection. He can still live. He is not dying. Do you treat people like this? Where is your conscience? Where is the medical treatment?

My husband is in the advanced stage of pancreatic cancer and was admitted to the ward on July 5. During these days, my husband has been patiently cared for by nurse Elaine S. She is very responsible in her work and is an excellent nurse. She is quick-witted and works quickly. I want to give her a thumbs up. As a family member, I am very grateful to have met such a good nurse. The doctor here is also very good, but I don’t know her name. She is an Indian lady. Their work attitude makes me feel at ease. Here I want to thank the responsible doctors and nurses. I will always love you and bless you.
