About Riverwalk Ranch

Riverwalk Ranch is located in Mansfield, Texas on a secluded 27-acre property. They offer luxury rehab for substance use and co-occurring disorders. They take many types of private insurance, though they don’t accept government-funded programs such as Medicare or Medicaid. They offer medical detox, residential inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs.

You’ll start with an assessment before detox. The evaluator determines your treatment plan based on your substance use and any co-occurring mental health disorders.

During the medical detox, you’ll safely rid your body of toxic substances. You’ll have around-the-clock nursing care and medications to help you manage withdrawal symptoms. Once you’re through detox, you’ll begin working on the mental health issues that led to your substance use.

Detox is often part of an inpatient stay so that after detox, you can move right to the next level of care. The inpatient program offers 24/7 support so it’s often the best way to address an addiction. Free of distractions and the stressors of daily life, you can fully commit to your mental and physical recovery. The inpatient program usually lasts 30 to 90 days.

During the inpatient stay, a licensed professional will meet with you for individual therapy to address co-occurring disorders such as anxiety or depression. You’ll have group therapy sessions and medication management if appropriate.

You’ll work on your overall mental and physical health with holistic therapies such as yoga, meditation, and equine therapy. It’s important to learn to engage in hobbies and develop a healthy lifestyle. Substance use depletes your system of essential vitamins and nutrients, so you’ll get education and guidance to improve your diet and move toward better physical health.

There’s also a partial hospitalization program (PHP). This is an outpatient program that meets five to seven days a week for six hours per day. The PHP is a good bridge from the inpatient to the intensive outpatient treatment (IOP). The IOP is less intensive, leaving you time for employment and your regular daily life.

The facility is CARF-accredited.

A family member of mine received treatment at Riverwalk Ranch. This is the first time I was involved with the process and appreciated the education and support that Kat provided. Kat has a true passion for helping others and we are so thankful for her support. During the time at Riverwalk Ranch, our loved one attended classes and was supported by the staff, who truly seeks the best outcome for the residents, and provides them with applicable life skills in leading a life of sobriety. In planning for support after leaving Riverwalk Ranch, the staff provided information on programs/meetings that would help to support us on a daily basis. We sincerely appreciate the staff and Kat, for the time invested and the passion to help us and others, along the path to sobriety. Thank you for never giving up on us. You are appreciated!

Worst experience at any facility, admissions lies, tells you what you want to hear. They force wash clothes upon arrival. Tear, & Dye your clothes with cheap processing materials. Management doesn't care about your recovery. Only focus is you going to groups so your insurance will continue to pay.. They force you to stay at least 60 days w/ court ordering situations or threats of no certificate. Full of scams & false promises. W/ insurance fraud as a big part of what they do to get clients staying 90-120 days even.. Full of disrespect twords clients on a daily. Do yourself a favor & pick a different place.

Accepted Insurance

Riverwalk Ranch works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

This is a great place. I just did 45 days here, and it was a life changing experience. The staff is amazing and makes it all worth it. There are 4 group sessions a day, and they teach you life skills, anger management, and how to cope with your addiction. You get one on one therapy, and all their therapists are great, kind-hearted people. I had the pleasure of having Alex as my therapist, and she was amazing. My case worker Lisa did everything to make sure my job was safe and everything was taken care of for me. Most of the employees here were addicts so they treat you like human beings and not like crap. I highly recommend this place to anyone fighting an addiction. Being sober isn't easy, and fighting an addiction is even harder. Thank you, River Walk Ranch, for helping me

I can not put into words the absolute devastation my son Cameron is experiencing and our family after the Riverwalk . He went there completely broken ,chronic PTSD, trauma , health issues , different addictions. He about a week ago really began to stabilize and showed signs of great improvement! He told me that he was really feeling better and he for the first time in a long time had great hope for the future . There was a plan in place . He would stay about 30 more days and then transfer to the half way house downtown. He was so happy about it and was feeling so positive. A new guy came to the Riverwalk and he made hate crime speech and violent threats to my son's friend and my son defended his friend through communication, no violence! I got a call from him last Monday that they were kicking him out , no mercy and dropping him off at Walmart. It was in the 30s and my son had been sick and on an antibiotic. They left him in the parking lot with his 7 bags , he could not go into Walmart with all his bags to wait . The personal injury and psychological injury that this has caused him and our family is pure negligence and the most cruel thing I've ever seen . My son matters and his friend who received the hate speech mattered . My son had the rug pulled out from underneath him creating a very negative downward spiral . There is something very fishy about this whole thing . Why would you take a person with trauma , PTSD and deep emotional wounds who had never been in trouble and devestate his life ? He had a really good therapist who told me Cameron was doing good . This was abuse and an atrocity. He stood up and did the right thing defending his friend and then got scapegoated. It's had a domino effect of extreme pain . A facility can't play with peoples lives like this . He also tried to get his friends phone numbers but they refused to let him . I can't even comprehend what happened. It's a tragedy . He was trying to get better for his baby girl . These are pictures of him in the cold at Walmart.

Riverwalk Ranch absolutely changed my life! The entire staff there is incredible and has your best interest at heart. There are days that will be hard and I highly recommend that you be vulnerable and let someone know when you are struggling. You will not regret it. Going into treatment was one of the hardest decisions I ever made and I was terrified, but I am so grateful that I did. The ranch saved my life and I am forever grateful to have had the opportunity to begin my recovery there. The nurses and RCs are extremely hardworking and caring. Lisa Hunter was my case manager and she is a beast at getting things done. She has the best energy and is a really fun person to be around. Truly a one of a kind person that will fight for your every last need. Kat was my counselor and she helped pull me out of my despair and set me on this beautiful path. I know I might sound like a broken record, but I’m saying it because it’s true: Kat saved my life. The counselors at the ranch saved my life. Riverwalk Ranch saved my life. I hope this finds somebody who is hurting and scared. I was right where you were and the ranch helped guide me to peace.

Let me start by sharing I have had more than one rehab stay/experience - Riverwalk Ranch changed my life. This is NOT a run of the mill 30 day blah blah blah rehab. These people are above and beyond incredible. They have literally walk the path of destruction and came out on the other side. I went in with a warrant and came out with my charges being dropped. I had the most amazing team - Erica Hudgins, Lisa Hunter, Alex Holder, Clint, Janelle, Chelsea, Ron, Alec and all the Recovery Coaches loved me when I could not love myself. I have hope! I will always be an alcoholic - but if I keep “doing what Erica says” and “listening to Lisa” … I have hope. Recovery is possible!
