About The Bougainvilla House Family Therapy Center

Located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, The Bougainvilla House Family Therapy Center provides counseling, guidance, and support to children, teens, and young adults. They can help with substance use and other behavioral concerns, familial or relationship conflict, life transitions, anger management, learning disabilities, and mental health concerns like depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts.

Relatable, Age-Specific Care

By focusing their attention on clients between the ages of 4 and 26, they’ve been able to create programs that effectively address age-specific issues that kids and new adults can face. Homey and welcoming, the facilities create a safe space for healing and self-discovery.

Their outpatient group counseling sessions are open to anyone under the age of 17 who is facing mental health or substance use concerns. Under the guidance of an experienced addiction counselor, participants work together to come up with solutions for each other’s challenges. The group creates a safe space for them to vent and a supportive environment that encourages them to heal.

Healing With Alternatives Therapies

The team is committed to providing fun opportunities for kids and young adults to learn more about themselves and heal through different experiences. One of the workshops they ran was “Hearts and Hooves” – a day camp that gave children and teens space to interact with horses. The program used a combination of equine therapy with traditional group therapy to teach kids about relationship skills, overcoming obstacles, and mindfulness.

For those facing behavioral health issues like substance use, they offer bio bed therapy. This involves resting on a reclined chair, shaped similar to a dentist chair, and experiencing audio and visual stimulations to help you relax. This therapy can provide a lot of comfort to people going through withdrawal, those with anxiety or depression, and anyone with chronic muscle pain or fatigue.

Accepted Insurance

The Bougainvilla House Family Therapy Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

This place is the most unprofessional place I have ever been to. My stepchildren started going here for reunification therapy and when my daughter started having nightmares and issues in school because of the reunification therapy. The owner Cici told us that it wasn't her problem and that she needs to grow up. Like you're a place that's supposed to help with stuff like this and you make that kind of comment. Not to mention Cici was more for helping the abuser than my children who are the victims. And because of that, I wouldn't let my son come here. I would never come back here if my children ever need therapy again. And another thing, they will try to charge your insurance even if you have a court order that states the other parent is the one that's supposed to pay. So I really think that they try to double dip by charging one parent by cash and the other through the insurance company. There is no consideration for the well-being of the child. I highly recommend you take your kids somewhere else!!! And lastly this place is very unwelcoming.

Today I attempted to put my 4 children on the waitlist for services. Within the conversation I shared we moved from MI and I joked we were running from the cold, and the person I spoke with said “or the governor”… I was shocked, so I said what was that? And she restated her opinion. I then said that’s why we moved here was to remove our family from the conservative community we were in to a more inclusive and diverse community within Fort Lauderdale, so she lost me with that comment. I’m sharing so that other families from marginalized communities are aware and can possibly avoid a biased therapy environment.

I will give them 0 stars nothing but a scam charging abusive fees to parents who are seeking treatment fir their kids . The lack of professionalism is beyond anything they lies and make up exercises to charge . The therapist don’t talk to parents regarding the treatment . Good forgive you get sick or something happened to you that you miss the appointment they will charge you $150 for 1 hour appointment even if you call them . You mother and father that are struggling with with kids stay away from this scam place your kid won’t get any help and you will end up with a huge debt . I wish I’ve read the reviews before I even consider taking my son there .

Two months ago, my husband and I were broken and lost and had no idea how to handle our 17 year old son’s out of control behavior that was affecting our entire family, including his well being. Through a friend of a friend (and God) CiCi Kelley was placed in our lives to help navigate these uncharted waters that were unfolding and we had no idea where to turn. Even though we live 300 miles away, and we still to this day have not met CiCi, she immediately stepped in to help guide us on how best to help our son. If you are looking for help with your adolescent, stop the search and go to The Bougainvilla House. CiCi is a talented expert with a tremendous amount of dedication to help not only the patient, but the entire family. The plethora of phone calls, follow up (even when she was on vacation) and finding a place for my son is something we will never forget. We refer to CiCi, in our home, as the Dr. Oz of adolescence.
