About Zinnia Health Lake Okeechobee

Zinnia Health’s Lake Okeechobee site offers inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment for adults in Pahokee, Florida. They also offer medically supervised detox and extensive aftercare support.

Their facilities include a gym and several relaxing outdoor spaces. The bedrooms are comfortable and come with a smart TV and PlayStation 4 for residents to unwind with after a long day of treatment. Nature walks and outdoor activities add some healthy relaxation.

Their treatment programs consist of three main pillars of care: detox, rehabilitation, and aftercare.

The detox stage typically lasts for 10-14 days for drug use and 5-7 days for alcohol use, but this can vary from person to person. This process focuses on removing substances from the body and teaching your body how to function without substances. Medications like methadone and naltrexone may be used to manage withdrawal symptoms and keep your body stable as it adjusts to a lack of substances.

During rehabilitation, treatment focuses on developing new life skills to stay sober. Whether in an outpatient or inpatient program, you’ll attend individual and group therapy sessions to develop these skills and get to the root of mental health concerns that contribute to substance use. They also offer experiential therapy modalities, like yoga, art therapy, and equine-assisted psychotherapy.

During aftercare planning, the team will work with you to outline actionable steps that help you stay sober. They’ll help connect you to alumni support groups and sober housing if needed.

Something I liked about Zinnia Health is that they help people seek out treatment for their loved ones. They provide tailored support for anyone affected by a loved one’s substance use, including intervention services and support through the admission process.

Accepted Insurance

Zinnia Health Lake Okeechobee works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. Linden Oaks' Residential Stay Program offers additional support for those who may benefit from a structured living environment. A patient's stay may vary from a few days to 30 days ago. The program includes group, family and individual counseling.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. The Intensive Outpatient Program gives patients the chance to participate in a structured treatment plan part-time while they transition back to home and work or other responsibilities. This program provides half-day treatment (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:15 am to 12:30 pm).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Often referred to as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers an intensive treatment option that allows individuals to return home at night. PHP treatment typically requires a minimum of 20 hours a week for an average of 90 days. Participants attend daily therapeutic sessions, receive medication management, and have access to skilled medical professionals. While costs can vary, most insurance will fully or partially cover a partial hospitalization program.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The first step of the recovery process involves the removal of all drugs and alcohol from your system while under 24/7 medical supervision. Known as a medically assisted detox, you are closely monitored by medical staff who can provide medications, if necessary, to help alleviate any potential withdrawal symptoms. Medical detox is usually followed by a period of inpatient addiction treatment.

Clinical Services

Group therapy provides a safe and supportive environment for people in Florida who are struggling with drug addiction. There you can openly discuss the challenges and progress you're making without fear of judgment from your peers who experience many of the same things you are.

Individual therapy often includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This is a structured approach to identifying and changing negative thought patterns. During therapy you learn how what you think drives your actions so you can develop healthier coping strategies to manage addiction triggers and reduce drug use.

Trauma therapy helps you work through the psychological impact that traumatic events have had on your life. Your therapist helps you identify the physical, emotional, and mental triggers and develop coping mechanisms. This helps rebuild a sense of safety and trust in yourself and others.

During family therapy sessions, you navigate the complexities of addiction and are provided tools to help improve communication and resolve conflicts. When you work together, families can better support their loved one's recovery and restore balance and harmony within the household.

1/25/25 **I would love to talk to someone from the facility, please have someone call me, I can’t get anyone on the phone* I have mixed feelings about my stay here. I had some great moments of healing that felt tarnished by moments of bad experiences that could have been prevented. The facility is not as it appeared online. There’s a reason this is such a big deal, when someone packs up and leaves their whole life behind to do something as vulnerable as this and they walk in to a situation that is not what was promised/advertised, it’s terrifying. Arriving somewhere that’s not as advertised can make one think, is it just these things that were embellished or is everything not what was promised. An honest representation goes a long way. The zinnia health representatives on the phone are brokers, they make a commission for each person they place there. They are willing to move mountains to get someone there and in turn, say things that simply aren’t true. The majority have never been to these places and have no idea what goes on there or what is actually offered. If they said what this facility is really like, it would include: this is an older facility, it’s not as bright and shiny as the website portrays, there’s no yoga unless you decide to do on your own, most of the meditation is a YouTube breathing video, there are no wildlife trail walks taken, it’s in the middle of sugarcane fields that often rain ash, there are flying cockroaches everywhere (they’re native to the area, they spray for them but you can’t get rid of all of them in that climate) depending on the room one may fall victim to bad plumbing resulting in the room smelling like hot garbage. The pictures are not an actual representation of the grounds and are photoshopped. I didn’t come for a luxury retreat, I came to get my head right. It would be beneficial to advertise appropriately. Having said all that, they have some of the most amazing trauma therapy and by keeping the facility small with less admissions it makes personal treatment and attention a priority. There is an onsite doctor that is really good at what she does and clearly cares about the patients. Some of the staff is amazing and really care about their patients and others have what feels like zero empathy and are there to collect a check. I tried to contact zinnia to discuss some personal matters regarding my stay and I was hung up on more than once because I mentioned writing an honest review, once I said that, no one would talk to me. I was hung up on by more than one person and they refused to give names so I couldn’t report the hang ups. After calling back a final time the line rang for a very long time before someone picked up and told me that no one would be able to talk to me.

I got everything, therapeutic wise, that I needed from this facility, but especially appreciate the concentration they have here where Mental Health is concerned. Coming here has saved my life and I wanted to thank the specific staff that was kind to me and helped me get through my stay.. Vanessa (Director of Operations) was an absolute gem! I was so inspired by her and appreciate the continued kindness she showed me throughout my stay! Barbara (Medical Provider) - This woman is a saint. She talked me down on my hardest days and always advocated for my well being. Thank you so much for being the loving and caring person you are! Monica (Finance Manager) - What a sweetheart! Thank you for doing everything you could to get my insurance straight and always willing to help, when needed. You were one of the nicest people in the facility ❤️ Brian and Andy, the cooks - Wow! They both pour so much love into their food and make sure everyone has specific items for their diets/preferences. With as many vices that we have to give up when we get here, they really make it feel like home, through their food. Nursing Staff: Tomoka Shara Tamecia Nikia (she’s so sweet and funny!) Special shout out to Mims, Nene (Shaneatris) and Ms. Karen - They always went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of and I appreciate them so much!! Techs: Johnessia Adriana Melvette Barnett Ms. Suzie (love her!) Dria Ayesha (also the sweetest!) Special shout out to Ms. Cynthia, Robert, Renneec and Shaniqual - I truly don’t think I would have gotten through without them. They really care and empathize for everyone around them. They’re so special and I’m so grateful for the support they gave me on my toughest days 🙏 Therapists: Andrew Mike Dustin Dominique Andrea (my specific therapist) who was an amazing listener and extremely supportive! And last but not least, Manny. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a therapist that was made to do this as much you are. The help and guidance you offered, and the trauma you helped me work through, will be carried with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for caring for your patients the way that you do! Unfortunately, there were two staff members here that made my stay extremely difficult.. I’m still leaving 5 stars because of the staff mentioned above, but there were times when I packed up my stuff to leave, because of the lack of insincerity and pure apathy they both exuded.. Siga (Head of Clinical) - I’m shocked to know that this woman is the head of anything and I felt very unsafe around her. She seemed to get some kind pleasure out of triggering specific patients, but doesn’t even bother to learn people’s names before trying to communicate with them. I’m very disappointed in how she handled multiple scenarios - Thank God for the therapists that actually understand what we’re going through, who helped during those difficult times. And Maria (Tech).. This woman should not be working at a mental health facility. She’s one of the laziest, vindictive and unkind people I’ve ever been around. She has zero empathy and carries an air around her, that she’s better than the patients she’s working with - Like we’re lower than her, because of what we’re here for, and exercises an abuse of power every chance she gets. I will never understand why people like that choose to be around patients that are at their most vulnerable and lowest points, if they can’t empathize for how we’re feeling. I sincerely believe she is a danger to those around her and she shouldn’t be working in this field.

It looks nice from the pictures and they did a great jobs selling it to me! They even flew me out! My insurance is locked in to California, as I found out when I needed to leave the facility so they dumped me at the airport and wouldn’t fly me back to one of their CA facilities. They lied about insurance, the place was disgusting, and the finance lady was rude. Rest of staff were nice. I spent 2 days trying to get back to CA! And they didn’t tell me I would need to come off my seizure meds for epilepsy.
