About Anthony Louis Center – Blaine

The facility understands that teen clients have their own unique needs that are different from individuals at adult treatment centers. They have more than 40 years of experience tailoring their addiction treatment to this specific group. The Anthony Louis Center works with most insurance plans and can also help clients see if they qualify to have county funding pay for their treatment.

In their approach to recovery for teens, they treat this age group with the awareness that teens tend to use different drugs than adults and use those drugs for different reasons. Because many teens aren’t yet responsible for supporting themselves, the facility starts by helping them understand the consequences of continuing their addiction.

While most teens do drugs to seek a fun high rather than relieve stress, staff members still help their clients develop coping strategies to manage any stress they experience. While teen patients are getting treatment, they can still continue attending regular school if they’re doing outpatient treatment.

If a client is doing residential treatment then the center may provide different core classes to keep the client learning until they complete treatment and are able to go back to school full time. When treatment is completed, the Anthony Louis Center has specialized programs to continue supporting the client and help them have a smooth transition as they continue life without substances.

After just finding my daughter’s journal from when she went back fora relapse stay I’m so sad to read what she went through.she was constantly berated for relapsing and made to feel like she was less than a person. She was sexually harassed by a staff member and nothing was done or brought to my attention till she was leaving there. I’m very upset that I sent her thereby think it only added to her anxiety. The day I went to pick her up from there they tried to get me to turn around cause they told me she was still having dirty UAs, turns out the one in charge was switching up urine samples. The girls she was having over to her own home and smoking and drinking with were the one’s getting clean uDS’s. It was just a scam to try to get me to leave my daughter there longer and get the insurance money. Please consider a real treatment center through the state or somewhere. I think Anthony Lois center is not a place to send your teen.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug addiction is defined as an inability to stop using drugs even though it causes negative consequences in your life. Drug rehab in Minnesota provides treatment for drug addiction in a variety of settings including inpatient treatment and outpatient treatment.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I went here 6 years ago and at the time I was another moody teen with ODD. I hated most aspects of everything and I always acted out whenever I could. The experience was next to none though. Jack was hands down the best counselor/director and everything I needed to push me to be me today. If it wasn't for these guys at this center I wouldn't be alive today. This isn't even mentioning Michelle. Rest in Peace. I couldn't be happier with my experience at On-Belay. I still feel like I'm mountain climbing and these guys are spotting me from a million miles away. If you want the best for your child, just as these counselors do, send them here.

this is the worst treatment center to put your child in. i had a particularly hard time with the clinician (ruth). she would be the person you would be having the talks with, and i never felt comfortable talking about anything with her which is a huge problem in rehab, she has no sense of empathy and i quote “here’s a tissue, i don’t care”. she said that. to the whole group, and she would say it repeatedly in her office and to the group. when i got kicked out i was told i would be on a ‘five day eject’, then my mom came to pick me up and told me i was getting kicked out, so my mom was basically the middle person for all of this. ruth was there at the beginning but couldn’t tell me i was kicked out. ruth would always complain about me to my mom on the phone. but anyways, the whole staff are pretty terrible and unhelpful. no one liked that place. even the 5 star kids. they all put on a front to make them think they were getting ‘better’. and they got drunk they day after graduation. if you want a sober child choose another place like fairview. if you want to punish your child, this is the place for you. the director (jack) would eat the kids’ candy they bought, and i’m pretty sure one of the staff took my snacks. the food is rarely good, and trust me, you will eat it anyway because of how small of proportions they would give you. you just have to hope and pray someone who can cook is in the kitchen. i would steal pieces of bread from how hungry i was. one staff there was particularly wasteful with the leftover food, even though we were hungry, to keep everything “even” or “fair” even though not everyone even wanted leftovers. there’s a lot more i could say but i hope this is enough to keep you from putting your child here.

Response from the owner
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are disheartened to hear that you had a negative experience, and take your feedback seriously. If you so choose, reach out so we can discuss and address your concerns. You can call and ask to speak with Jack or Cory, or the new residential counselor Emily E.

do NOT send your kids here. i am still working on the trauma this place gave me. i would rather be on the streets using than be in there again, that’s how bad it is. and imo a male staff should NOT be working in an all girls center. he would sit outside of our doors at night and come INTO OUR ROOMS. and if you did something they saw as “bad” your punishment would be (from my experience) not allowed to talk to my family, not allowed in the same room as everyone else, and for some reason treatment work as in WORKING ON YOUR SOBRIETY…was a PUNISHMENT!?? SEND YOUR GIRLS ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. a young addict in recovery deserves a safe, clean, and encouraging environment to grow in. i’m not even going to mention the mold in the walls, the flooding problem, or the bed bugs. this place is absolutely unacceptable.

Response from the owner
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We take your feedback seriously. What I believe you are referring to is HR, which is a intervention we utilize to highlight a roadblock in someones treatment, and give them the time and space to slow down and process. We are disheartened to hear that this was not your takeaway. We do have male technicians that sit in the hallway and conduct 15 minute bed checks at night. This is to ensure safety and security of the clients and the building. Again, we are discouraged to hear that this was not your take away . If you so choose, reach out so we can discuss and address your concerns. You can reach out and ask to speak with Jack or Cory.

If you are in need of assistance, or want to check in and say hi, feel free to give us a call. We are here if and when you need us.
