The Hazelden Betty Ford Treatment Center operates a Teen Drug Rehab Center in Plymouth, Minnesota. The levels of care offered here are detox, residential, p
The nutritionist there is HORRIBLE. I personally am lactose intolerant and when I was admitted my liver was bad, so I needed a diet tailored to helping me recover. She told me if I can’t find anything to just eat from the salad bar. I stood my ground and she let the kitchen staff know I was lactose intolerant and couldn’t eat fried stuff but that is ridiculous I should not have to argue with her. Then my roommate had ARFID so she needed dietary help, and the nutritionist told her to eat bread. That’s a sad and pathetic excuse for a nutritionist. Staffs great but they should certainly fire her.

With any institution trying to implement a broad program for individuals, there are bound to be issues. With that being said, my time at HBF Plymouth was invaluable. I especially want to mention Mary the psychologist & counselors Sara and Cozi on the Pioneer Unit. Advocacy is a huge part of individual recovery, and I was especially encouraged by these three to ask for what I need when I need it. It works if you work it!

The Detox Facility helped me get sober, and they let me stay an extra day to get into Teen Challenge for Treatment! I then switched from Teen Challenge Inpatient to their Outpatient Program, and Mission Lodge let me move into their Sober Living Facility. They helped with all of the paperwork needed and I cannot say enough good things about them and their Staff! It is by the grace of GOD that I found them and I am happy to report that I now have 2 months sober, and my wife came back to me! She visits every day now, and we are setting up Family Counseling next week! Thank you, Mission Lodge and Detox!

On Belay House offers hope in Plymouth, Minnesota for adolescent males aged 13 to 18 who are struggling with substance abuse. This residential treatment center is part of the Anthony Louis Center which offers a nurturing and structured environment to foster sobriety and personal growth. "As a probation agent working closely with at-risk juveniles, I have had the opportunity to refer several clients to Anthony Louis Center – On-Belay House, and the results have been overwhelmingly positive. This program provides a structured and therapeutic environment effectively addressing substance use and behavioral challenges while fostering personal growth and responsibility. One of the most valuable aspects of On-Belay House is its individualized approach to treatment. The staff takes the time to understand each resident’s unique circumstances, tailoring their interventions to meet specific needs. Many of my clients struggle with co-occurring mental health issues, trauma, or a lack of stable family support, and this program excels at addressing those complex factors through counseling, life skills training, and relapse prevention strategies. Another key strength is the program’s emphasis on accountability and personal development. The structured setting helps youth establish healthy routines, develop coping mechanisms, and build resilience. I have witnessed firsthand how young people who enter the program with little motivation or hope leave with a newfound sense of purpose and confidence. The program also prioritizes family involvement, which is crucial in maintaining long-term success once juveniles’ transition back into their communities. Additionally, the professionalism and dedication of the staff set On-Belay House apart. They are compassionate yet firm, creating an environment where youth feel supported but also challenged to make meaningful changes. Program staff communicate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring that progress updates are timely and that reentry plans are comprehensive and realistic. As an example of staff’s dedication, one of my clients worked through a restorative justice program after completing inpatient treatment, and their assigned counselor drove to their final meeting in-person, which occurred several months after his discharge from inpatient treatment and was an hour-plus drive for the staff. Overall, Anthony Louis Center – On-Belay House is a highly effective program for at-risk youth in need of substance use treatment and behavioral support. I have seen significant positive changes in my clients who have participated, making it a vital resource in helping young individuals get back on track. I highly recommend this program to fellow probation agents and juvenile justice professionals seeking a structured, evidence-based intervention for their clients. "

Our son recently was discharged from this facility because he was not following the program. We know it had to do with HIM and his unwillingness to try and don’t put any of that on the staff. Everyone was so down to earth, non judgemental, patient and just all around kind to us from the day we reached out. They kept us in the loop with everything that was happening and were always gracious to us during random pop ins or family visits with our other crazy kids. The rooms and especially bathrooms were very well kept and clean, our son LOVED the food, and even though the entire experience was positive for us I think the most impressive thing was how caring and helpful they were when it was time for our son to go. They kept him longer than they had to and made him feel loved and heard in our last meeting together when I picked him up. They also went above and beyond helping us place him in another facility by providing all necessary information, paperwork and referrals etc - things that would’ve taken me weeks to do on my own. Thank you for the work you’re doing with these kids, On Belay!

Went to this place in 2018 short term program, 3 months. Saved and changed my life. I understand it may not be for some but it always starts with yourself, you have to really want it and if you do the people and counselors here will help guide your way. Not everything is sunshine and rainbows here or anywhere for that matter, you have to be strong you have to be determined and if you are this place will work wonders for you. I'll have 8 years sober in 2 days and it all started here. Life is what you make it. If you're lost it doesn't mean you're lost forever, sometimes we all just need a little help and adult and teen challenge can be that help.

So far my experience with Anne Marie has been TERRIBLE!!!! Early in recovery dealing with disconnection notices and getting back into the work force relying on public transportation in rural Minnesota and trying to find housing is NOT EASY and neither it is an excuse, but I am not sure how she can be kicked out of group after 1 group absence and individual. It is frustrating to work with a provider who calls their clients names during sessions and communicates in a condescending manner. Is this place not trauma informed? I’m so confused as to how I was discharged without being able to speak for myself or to Anne Marie’s supervisor. UPDATE: Club recovery was ready to listen to my concerns and was quick to offer an efficient solution. I am highly satisfied with the care that I've received at Club Recovery, but amazed at their proficient customer service.

My journey in recovery began just over 10 yrs ago. When I went to my first treatment center, I wasn't even old enough to legally drink. I have been to 4x different rehabs on 6x occasions. I have both years long periods of sobriety and of relapse. Vinland is the most complete program I have ever been able to experience. It is exactly what I needed. I do believe that one's environment can influence their experience, eg the qualities of a treatment facility; it's staff, programming, and faculty etc, but perhaps more important of a factor when it comes to success is the attitude one brings into that environment. Vinland provided me with what I needed to heal. In my daily groups, I was exposed to a variety of treatment models/lenses: cbt, dbt, AA, NA, fitness, nutrition, literary analysis and sports psych., faith, science, games, discussion, etc and even riddles (s/o Angie 2.) Ie various philosophies both modern and ancient. This team goes out of their way to support your unique needs whether you are ready to believe in yourself or not. I have found that those willing to recover and change often do so more than those who do not believe change to be worthwhile, ie the only thing in your way is you, and even then they have your back... so imo it is clinically foolish to suggest otherwise in most instances. Each of my 52 days, I was met with various individuals willing to go out of their way to make sure I felt seen and cared for, which necessarily included being held accountable and challenged. No environment or attitude is perfect. Improvement can always be made. I do however believe it is ridiculous to portray Vinland as an obstacle to recovery. I think those people who blame Vinland for their negative experience are confusing it with what is likely more of an internal shortcoming, ie most if not all claims of neglect, indifference, incompetence etc average out as irrational. I found nearly all staff at Vinland to be exceptionally caring and competent. I was also blessed to be surrounded by incredible peers. I found strength here and I will forever be grateful for these connections. Thank you in particular to Molly, Murph (Human), Lauren, Hannah, Austin, Janina, Jeff, Allana, Elle, Kayla, Mary, Sherri, Erin, Mick, Connie, Amanda & even Bernie's unruly ass too, B.D. Ben, Angie 1, Angie 2, Tanya & Copper, Murphy (Dog), Romney (species unknown) and Kirsten.

Traditional therapy and education classes are provided to help improve your health. They also provide a descaling program so you can transfer to outpatient, recovery housing
I am an alumni, I am from Anoka so after my terrible experience at (the old) River place in Anoka, I went to Transformation house. 8 actually went there a few times , only completed it one time though. I couldn't tell you today how the program is TBH, but back when Betty was the owner (R.I.P.) and when Brian was the head councilor, and Angel was one of the cooks and Natalie was one of the technicians.... Back than that place really helped me out. They were so patient with me, they gave me the opportunity to get whatever I want out of it. Which really is like most places. Whatever you put into it you will get out of it. I hope and pray that the love and care Betty had for people in recovery lives on through Shiloh Ministries (Transformation house)

I can't say enough good things about Transformation House. My experience here was a night and day difference from my previous treatment center. My counselor was incredible – so empathetic and understanding, which made it easier to be honest and work through things. The entire staff genuinely cares about your well-being. It's clear they're not just going through the motions. What I appreciated most was that they focused on helping me find the right path forward, even after I left. The outpatient program they connected me with was fantastic. Today, I'm proud to say I've graduated, I'm in college, I have a job, and most importantly, I have my kids back in my life. My advice to anyone going to Transformation House is to be honest with yourself and your counselor, and truly commit to the process. Stop making excuses and put in the work – they will meet you where you are and provide the support you need. I also built some strong connections with the other women there. The staff creates a supportive environment, but ultimately, your willingness to change is key. Transformation House truly changed my life, and I'm incredibly grateful for how far I've come.

Anna the head floor nurse on 3E was a gracious host and facilitated a mentorship session with a brother veteran. This was very humbling for me and especially Dave, the day before Veteran's Day!

Like any VA facility, this one has many concerns to resolve to provide quality care to veterans. They seem to do their best with less. Personnel and provider shortages are becoming a problem. Some appointments can take several months to be seen. Community care needs to improve in providing referrals for quality care outside the VA and not just those who are the lowest bidders. VA recently denied over $10k in payments to my dental surgeon because they couldn’t get the bill submitted within their 6 month window because the clerks had repeated bouts of COVID. I can no longer maintain continuity of care because of VAs lack of consideration. The dental provider was highly skilled and experienced. Now he refuses any further authorizations from any VA. Today’s visit went very well at the VA for a minor procedure. All staff and providers were delightfully cheerful. That is certainly an improvement. God bless!

Of all the treatment I've been to in the last 15 years, Lakeshore has been the best in many ways, but there is always a few bad apples in a bunch. Let me explain; THE BEST: Emily Schwab and the other Certified Peer Recovery Specialists dive in, driven by empathy and altruism. Getting everything a person needs in early recovery taken care of for you and lining up everything for our near future. The Good: The counselors care and are very attentive to our needs and help build a treatment plan worthy of a valiant attempt from our end. The Bad: Chad Walker. The treatment director. He is arrogant and selfish. He knows best, just ask him and he will tell you. He is very brash to people in vulnerable states and seems to have taken it upon himself to make his own rules and designs outside the scope of what EOSIS is trying to do for recovery. Get a new director and I would recommend this place to anyone. Also I think CPRS workers, especially ones this dedicated, should be independent contractors. Or, they should get paid more than "I think" they do because of the amount of actual work they do for us!!!
