About Nystrom & Associates – Woodbury

The facility accepts most major insurance plans. They also take Medicare and Medical Assistance (MA). If you’re unable to pay then they won’t deny you care. They offer a sliding scale fee schedule based on the size of your family and income.

The center is LGBTQIA+ friendly. They understand the unique mental health challenges that those in the LGBTQIA+ community face and are prepared to help with specialized programs.

There’s also an outpatient substance use disorder program for adolescents ages 12 to 18. The program has individual and group counseling, programs for families and care coordination. There’s also peer led support for alumni groups.

If you’re 18 or over then there is help available for mental health and substance use disorder through the intensive or regular outpatient programs. You’ll meet with counselors who are licensed alcohol and drug use counselors. You’ll get individual and group therapy, drug screening and family programs. You’ll also have an individualized plan and a care coordinator to help you navigate the process.

The counselors help you identify triggers that cause you to use substances as a coping mechanism. Once you’ve identified the triggers then you can work on healthier ways to cope with your emotions. In the adult substance use program, you’ll also learn about good nutrition, skills for managing your life and exercise.

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) includes group therapy three times a week for four hours each session. You’ll also have a one hour individual session for substance use counseling once a week. The program runs for about 10 weeks but is based on your progress.

The regular outpatient program has one four hour group therapy session once a week and a one-hour individual session once a week. This program also runs for about 10 weeks.

One former client noted that the staff is always professional. Another mentioned that this is her favorite location for getting help with her substance use disorder and mental health because the counselors are knowledgeable and resourceful.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug addiction is defined as an inability to stop using drugs even though it causes negative consequences in your life. Drug rehab in Minnesota provides treatment for drug addiction in a variety of settings including inpatient treatment and outpatient treatment.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Update: I was diagnosed with ADHD by another psychiatrist. Because I wanted to have the official diagnosis. For anyone that is going through something similar please get tested again. At the end I am glad things happened for a reason. Hello. This review comes after 5 years of care: I was a patient of Zoua Xiong for approximately five years. During all that time, I was open about my mental health history, my symptoms, and treatment. Because if you are, then you get the correct treatment. Right? After my son was diagnosed with ADHD, I decided to pursue an ADHD evaluation for myself just because what he went through, I was going through. I wanted to better understand struggles with attention, organization, and daily life . Rather than feeling supported in exploring these concerns, I felt judged for seeking additional evaluation and treatment options. Because my provider did not feel comfortable managing the medication. Even when in the questions I answered, it said I had ADHD. The rest of the test said I didn’t, but the tester said … I could try medication. After that, I decided to see other options or a second look. My primary care felt comfortable with me trying medication. Because of that, my psychiatrist decided to end my care. The way that she reacted made me feel like I committed a crime, it made me feel terrible about myself. I asked later if I could transfer to another provider within the practice because I felt it was easier because my medical record the practice has it. I was informed that I was not eligible to do so. And also, I had the right to appeal. In other words, I am banned because I did what the paperwork said I could do. That’s where I am a bit shocked. After five years as a patient, I am disappointed. A lot of us don’t come and just pay a co pay and that’s about it. We put our lives, things that hurt a lot, traumas. For me, 5 years is a lot. I am just disappointed. Just before someone gets care. Be aware that your care could end if you have an opinion on your care. I just hope the practice does a better job and the psychiatrist as well.
