About The Centers For Families & Children

Centers for Families and Children West Office branch offers substance abuse and drug rehab services to those in need in the Cleveland, Ohio region. This center focuses on providing you with wholly judgment-free addiction treatment in an outpatient setting.

The outpatient program includes individual and group counseling, as does their partial hospitalization program. Those enrolled in the latter will receive more stringent recovery care than those who only complete an outpatient program through the Centers for Families and Children—West Office.

The partial hospitalization program also provides medication-assisted treatment through Subutex, Vivitrol, and Suboxone. In addition, you should expect integrated treatment planning, case management, syringe exchanges, and routine assessments to adjust treatment plans and goals.

Insurance-wise, they accept most private insurances. They also have a flexible sliding fee scale for most substance abuse treatment services. However, to confirm coverage and determine benefits, it’s best to speak with this center before enrolling in treatment.

This company is not good with urgent matters. I lost out on Jon Corps cause they refused to mail me my records.I had an allergic reaction to a medication and they talked me into keep taking it instead of scheduling me earlier with a provider! Shame on y'all if I go psychotic again from not taking anything.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I used to go to this place for major depression and anxiety panic disorder with other Debilitating mood disorders for about 8 years or so. At the time I had a case manager named Heidi who was very good, helped me get around sometimes because I have agoraphobia and anxiety so bad she would help me. It was appreciated. Then I was talking to her in office one day and she flipped the script. She accused me of having a victim mentality. ? Why would this be ok by a professional in this industry say this to someone who needs help? Another sad example: I moved out of state and came back 1 year later to continue here with my behavioral health issues. After having years of help here, and me not utilizing Heidi anymore, I came back expecting the same help, same meds filled. What I got was no help and accusations of "looking for Xanax", their words not mine. According to the same people(not professional at all) who wrote the scripts for me with no problem for years now called me an addict a year later... I'm an addict? I told them to take their unprofessional bs and shove it. I needed my meds and no I wasn't addicted it was part of my treatment and is today. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I was so messed up I couldn't hold down a job and as a single mother I was leaning on this establishment for help not knowing what else I could do to support my mood disorders for my son. They treated me like a drug addict, told me I was an addict, and wrote me off like a street drug addict. It was very shocking to have been treated this way after years of help. Another problem that threw me for a loop was that I tried several times to get the Psych I was seeing, (short man), to help me with ssd and he would take the form, not look at it and place it to the side. This place took a nose dive. These pests are unprofessional at best and they can and will literally cut you off without any help and leave you in a spin and not even care.

This will be a thorough review on my various services received, and I have waited enough time to leave the emotion out of reviewing my bad experiences. I am giving a five star review on mental health services after working with the Centers for 4 years. I was previously with Signature Health. The Centers mental health services are incredible. They are a great team of therapists, psychiatrists, and caseworkers. They care about their patients. They listen & stay updated on present day treatments. They trust their patients at their word. If you do not like a therapist or feel like you’re not making progress, they will immediately assign you a new one. They have income based services and will never turn someone away based on their inability to pay for treatment. I have utilized their mental health services voluntarily & also when it was court mandated. If you are required to get a substance abuse evaluation & mental health services, I cannot speak highly enough about those providers. Most of them have gone through what we have, and they are paying it forward to helping others. Telehealth services are organized & efficient. The people at the desk aren’t always the best. But, that’s been my case with most places. If they’re having a bad day on the same day you’re having a bad day, it might not go well. Try to exercise patience and politely lean into killing them with kindness. That’s my advice. They’re the gatekeepers to the actual good services. All this said, I cannot extend this approval and appreciation to their dental or medical services. They were not an original part of the Centers & were integrated during a merge. Because of this, they do not provide the same kind of respectful care and tact towards patients. I wish the Centers would mandate courses on showing compassion and kindness for employees at these facilities. Mental health affects physical health, and the lack of care from these providers during MD appointments is disappointing. To have a doctor look at my chart and lecture me on the importance of continuing to see a therapist and taking my meds when I am 34 years old and have followed every step my mental health providers tell me, I was kind of appalled. I am on medicines for symptoms that are a result of learning disabilities, cPTSD trauma, depression, and regulating my moods. Even if I wasn’t, being talked down to with such a rude tone and skeptical facial expressions is unacceptable. The look she gave me when I questioned her behavior was wild. A GP should not be treating patients any differently based off the mental health notes in their charts. The nurses at these locations are usually great. However, I suggest booking an appointment with a Dr. who is not Pamela Graham. The two I had before, that I really liked, have left. If Pamela is at your nearest, I would suggest looking into the providers they have at other locations, or ask for the other lesser available doctor(s) if you can wait or can’t travel. That said, you can tell them you do not have a ride to an appointment, and they usually will dispatch free Uber rides for you to get to the appointment and back to where you need to be. This has at least been the case for me. As for their dental services, it was 2021 when I last tried. If you’re depressed, your teeth are usually the last thing you’re concerned about. This doesn’t seem to register for their employees and providers. Is being embarrassed supposed to make us want to take care of ourselves? Do you know how hard it is to get yourself to go to the dentist in that state? I wonder how many people have gone to them for an initial exam and never returned, because I certainly cannot be the first. I suggest a Caring Dental Group if you can get in. TLDR: Mental health services are great and they listen to their patients. Income doesn’t matter. Dentistry on the east side and physical health services in Rocky River, not the best. That can change with proper retraining & better MD doctors.
