Connections CSP Incp

Connections Behavioral Health

Closed: Newark, Delaware

About Connections CSP Incp

Connections CSP was an integrated care network that provided high-quality behavioral healthcare, primary medical services and social support across 100 locations in Delaware including this one in Newark. Unfortunately, the organization has now closed and there is a different addiction treatment center in its place called Conexio Care.

Connections CSP catered to adults and adolescents, particularly those struggling with substance use disorder, mental health issues or co-occurring conditions. They also served children and families needing medical or dental care, pregnant and postpartum women in recovery alongside trauma or domestic violence survivors. They offered court-ordered services and behavioral healthcare too, including sex offender treatment, to folks in Delaware’s unified prison system.

Residents of the Newark community, alongside nearby Wilmington and Christiana, visited this facility to receive targeted care for opioid use issues and mental health disorders or to address primary health concerns. They even offered employment support and DUI treatment at a low cost. The cool part was that no one was denied care due to their inability to pay. They provided income-based sliding fee scale discounts for the uninsured and underinsured.

Medication-Supported Opioid Use Recovery

The clinic primarily provided opioid replacement therapy or medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid addiction recovery. This technique pairs FDA-approved meds like methadone, Suboxone or Vivitrol with counseling to facilitate lasting recovery. These meds curb physiological cravings and alleviate painful withdrawal symptoms when taken as prescribed.

Clients attended group therapy and individual counseling to tackle underlying emotional issues and develop relapse prevention strategies. The technique tends to keep clients in treatment longer, which ensures lasting abstinence.

Clients with co-occurring mental health issues were also provided with adequate psychiatric support needed to achieve well-rounded outcomes. Through the employment services offered at the clinic, clients were supported in finding job opportunities, building skills and achieving career goals.

This place was nice, all the workers were nice except Saundra the "psychiatrist". This (I can't even write down all the insults I have against this woman because I would probably get in big trouble) so-called "psychiatrist" would devaluate my traumas and put me on antipsychotics that literally ruined my life (now I have permanent movement disorders and impulse control problems). She would accuse me of being schizophrenic and bipolar plus she disrespected not only me but also my mother multiple times. She also told me all these threats just because I stopped taking medications that were giving me horrible side effects. She even prescribed me benzodiazepines despite my substance abuse history.

You get what you put into your recovery!! If you've read some of these negative reviews you'd see the common theme is NOT THIS PLACE, it's ADULTS CHOOSING TO BLAME OTHERS INSTEAD OF TAKING ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE THEIR OWN CHOICES AND CURRENT STATE IN LIFE!! Not every place nor person will be your fit but it's up to YOU to establish that right fit for YOUR needs!! If you want the help it's there. Don't fit with who your given REQUEST A SWITCH or BE PRODUCTIVE IN YOUR RECOVERY AND FIND ONE IT IS THAT SIMPLE!! The workers here DO NOT DISCRIMINATE NOR RACIALLY PROFILE, THEY DO NOT BABY YOU NOR SUGARCOAT YOUR ADDICTION, WHERE YOU HAVE PUT YOURSELF IN YOUR OWN SITUATION/LIFE, AND WHAT YOU GIVE IS WHAT YOU GET!! I have had no problems with the staff in Smyrna nor Newark only have been given the truth about myself.!! Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients may enroll in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) immediately following detox or after completing inpatient treatment. IOP programs involve a step-down approach in which treatment frequency and intensity gradually decrease until the client is stable enough to enter standard outpatient (OP) care. Most intensive outpatient programs offer a minimum of nine and a maximum of 20 treatment hours. Therapeutic modalities typically include medication assisted treatment (MAT), psychotherapy, recovery skills training, and complementary care.
12-step icon12-Step
The 12 step program model has become standard in addiction recovery programs around the country. It combines peer coaching with spiritual development to address the root causes of addiction while providing those in recovery with robust, judgment-free support. Participants self-select a sponsor to guide them through their recovery journey, engage in regular group meetings, and "work the steps" to achieve healing emotional, psychological, and spiritual growth. Though 12 step recovery is spiritually-focused, religious affiliation is not required.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients receiving services in a rehab aftercare program have typically completed detox or an inpatient treatment program. Aftercare programs provide customized, wraparound care to support recovery as a life-long process. Case managers, the recovery care team, and the client work together to identify and access services the client needs in order to support sustained sobriety.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Recovery is possible for those who complete drug rehab in Delaware. These programs specialize in providing an environment that encourages sobriety and a professional staff that provides the tools to overcome addiction. Participants receive a customized treatment plan tailored to their needs.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

When used in treatment sessions, cognitive behavioral therapy in Delaware has been shown to be an effective method to address a variety of mental health disorders, including substance use disorders. An advantage of this method is its ability to also address any co occurring disorders such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

Delaware families focus on creating a supportive network for the individual in recovery during family therapy. Therapists work with your family to identify dysfunctional patterns and develop healthier ways of interacting. This can significantly improve the overall treatment outcome.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Couples therapy typically involves five strategies. The therapist will get to know you, help you both identify your feelings, explore the past, find solutions to relationship issues, and teach you skills to deal with issues now and in the future.

Motivational interviewing is designed to strengthen your internal motivation to change. It's a method of communication that focuses on change, allowing you to reflect on your current circumstances and draw your own conclusions about the next steps you need to take.

The focus of trauma therapy in Delaware is on healing your emotional wounds from traumatic events you have experienced. Your therapist guides you through the process of confronting these memories and integrating them, which improves your emotional resilience and your mental well being.

This program is a JOKE!! I am not on the program but tenants of this program were moved into my neighborhood and they are not all rehabilitated. They wonder around what used to be a nice neighborhood begging for money or asking for crack in The Elms Apts. I complain to the Connections manager and they stated “they are not here to watch them.” So instead you just dump them off over here so we are stuck with them. Also how can one obtain a housing voucher but move their entire family in. Cousins, sisters, grandkids etc. This used to be a nice place to live until Connections sent their so called rehabilitated tenants to live amongst us. I am all for helping those who need help but this is ridiculous!!!

It's all about following the rules and keeping your cool. All of the negative reviews talking about not caring about anything but money... they are most likely not following the guidelines and rules for the program. If you cuss out the nursing staff because you're I withdrawal, don't expect great service. Do the program as your supposed to -- and you won't have any problems. I've had two counselors over 5 years. Haven't touched an opiate, but rely on this service. I feel safe here. Yes, improvements are needed. More counselors, less stringent cannabis rules like most clinics would improve my experience. Anyway, thumbs up. Saved my life.

Every employee seems to just quit there and they have left 3 of my family members with no therapist, and without someone to handle their meds. They never return messages or call you back when they say they will, and it's very unprofessional to call the nurse only to hear that their voicemail box is full and you can't leave a message.
