About Existential Counselor Society – Inpatient Rehabilitation Center

Existential Counselor Society is a person focused recovery program with three locations throughout the Joliet, Illinois area, including this one on Manhattan Rd. This is a recovery program that serves men who are experiencing behavioral health struggles including substance use struggles which have prevented them from leading a healthy and fulfilling life. If you’re also struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, low self esteem, trauma and other mental health challenges, there’s supportive care here too.

Their approach to care is one that’s focused on your individual recovery needs. From intake to developing your recovery plan, when you work with the counselors they’ll focus on individualizing your care. This will ensure you get the proper services to help you find health and wellness.

You’ll find the programs here balance a combination of clinical supports, evidence based therapies and social recovery supports. Some of the services include individual and group psychotherapy along with targeted substance use counseling services.

With all three facilities, you’ll find that they share a modern and inviting feel. There’s also a clean cut feel to the residences, giving you an organized and tidy environment to navigate recovery. The homes have an almost sterile like feel to them but not in the clinical sense. It’s more of a hotel like atmosphere that brings a sense of relaxation and calm. There are common areas for group gatherings and group counseling. While the bedrooms are shared, you still have plenty of private space as well.

After 10 years of battling addiction to various drugs I went to ECS for 28 days of rehab. It was a life changing experience that started on 11/29/2018. I have been in recovery for nearly 2 years now. I ve become close with my family and opened a personal training business helping men in rehab and employing men in recovery. I have also gotten my position as a general foreman back at my regular Job as well as my freedom in my life and am a better man than I have ever been thanks to the counselors, staff and Dr Sharma at ECS.A 6 year sober and in recovery update. I am now making over a quarter million a year with a Fortune 500 company, have kids who love and respect me again, 2 homes in 2 states, real friendships and a life beyond my wildest dreams. I was homeless 6.5 years ago. It all started with E.C.S. and im still a part of the community they have there that Doc started. Grateful

Accepted Insurance

Existential Counselor Society – Inpatient Rehabilitation Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients in outpatient rehab receive a variety of services based on their unique and evolving needs. Typical outpatient treatment modalities include individual, group, and family counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and community reintegration support. Many programs also provide medication assisted treatment (MAT) for clients recovering from alcohol and/or opioid dependency. Clients exiting inpatient treatment or those who are at an elevated risk of relapse may engage in more robust treatment, such as intensive outpatient (IOP) programming.
inpatient iconInpatient
Intensive Residential Treatment is a clinically managed high-intensity residential service which provides 24-hour monitoring and intensive treatment for adults needing a highly structure setting to interrupt their substance use, gain stability, and begin developing the skills necessary for recovery. Residents attend up to four group treatment sessions and one per support group per day, individual sessions with their counselor weekly and as needed, and other recovery support activities throughout the day and evening.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) enable clients to receive high-level care while living at home. Clients may choose to enter IOP instead of enrolling in inpatient care post-detox or they may transition from an inpatient rehab into IOP. Intensive outpatient treatment involves multiple therapeutic sessions per week and includes a combination of psychotherapy and addiction and recovery education. Many programs also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) and/or holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and massage.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs provide a full continuum of care for clients who are exiting inpatient treatment. Though outpatient care is often considered an element of drug rehab aftercare, services typically continue for the remainder of the clients' life and long after formal treatment is completed. Clients work with their case managers and care team to formulate a customized portfolio of medical, mental health, and social service resources designed to evolve as the client's needs change.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Living in a sober living home in Illinois is a lot like living in a traditional home. Everyone must contribute to household chores and maintenance. All residents must work and pay rent. Individuals can mostly come and go as they please, but they must be home before curfew. Most men's and women's sober living homes also host house meetings where they resolve disputes, assign responsibilities, and welcome new residents.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Loved ones can utilize a drug intervention in Illinois to help with addressing a family member's problematic substance use. The goal of the intervention is to educate the individual about the negative effects of their substance use and encourage them to accept professional treatment. Intervention services can help families initiate this conversation and plan appropriate follow-up care, such as inpatient or outpatient rehab.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
As a flexible option, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is tailored for those who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment can include daily therapeutic sessions and services such as relapse prevention and medication management. Based on your needs, PHP treatment duration can average 90 days and require a minimum of 20 hours of commitment weekly. While a partial hospitalization program typically requires a commute, telehealth may be available. PHP treatment costs can vary but are often covered by most insurance.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
During the medically supervised detox process, licensed medical professionals monitor your vitals and administer medications meant to help alleviate the physical symptoms of withdrawal. The process can take between five and seven days, although the actual length depends on your individual needs. In most cases, medically assisted detox is partially, if not fully, covered by insurance.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

A combined mental health and substance abuse treatment center has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track. They treat clients by providing them plenty of information through psycho-education, understanding societal impact of drug and alcohol dependency, the impact on family, career, and other facets of life. Their approach emphasizes honesty, commitment, and most of all a foundational understanding of drug and alcohol dependency.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

If you engage in cognitive behavioral therapy in Illinois, your therapist will work with you to change your thinking patterns. You'll learn how to recognize faulty thinking and develop skills to deal with stress without using substances.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Illinois typically involves keeping a diary to track actions and emotions. Your therapist will use this diary to determine what to focus on during each session. In addition to individual sessions, you'll also attend group meetings where you are trained in coping skills.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational interviewing in Illinois is person centered and collaborative. This method allows the therapist to come alongside the client to address the issue of ambivalence toward change. By listening and reflecting, the therapist helps the client see the need for change and commit to making changes.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The clinicians at Existential Counselor Society are there to help their clients find constructive ways of managing their emotions. They are uniquely trained and skilled at helping clients bring resolution to painful past experiences in a safe environment.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

The Existential Counselors Society teaches parents more effective parenting techniques like: understanding your upbringing, looking at the helpful and harmful ways in which you were raised, understanding yourself and your child, understanding beliefs and feelings, encouraging your child and yourself, listening and talking to your child, fostering cooperation in children, discipline that makes sense to both the child and the parent, and choosing your approach to engage your child.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Recreational therapy in an addiction treatment program in Idaho helps you rediscover the joy and build healthy habits you can continue as you reenter the community. Activities can include gardening, yoga, and group games that all promote relaxation, improve mood, and encourage interaction and community building. These factors are crucial for sustaining long term recovery.

The use of nicotine replacement therapy in Illinois supplies your body with a small, controlled dose of nicotine without exposing it to the other harmful chemicals in cigarettes. This dose reduces withdrawal and satisfies cravings, so you can wean yourself off nicotine use.

They don’t have the appropriate facilities and are often over filled. The food is same every meal. The staff is unqualified and disrespectful. They also release your personal information without your consent.

This place was a gift for me haven been to numerous other facilities where I felt more like paper work at those facilities. This place took a more one on one approach. I was able to have numerous one on ones with an amazing consoler every single week. She dove deep and helped me work threw things I thought as a man I was unable to work threw. This place makes u understand your wrongs and how to live a full meaningful life without drugs or alcohol. Doc is an amazing man whom I’m grateful to know and have as a mentor. I recommend this place to people who are serious about change and are willing to do what ever it takes to have life back.

ECS has been a benchmark in my most recent journey through the recovery process. It's alternative approach of sobriety through rigorous existentialism was a welcome change, especially when considering my past attempts were centered around the traditional methods that just did not work for me. I liked the beans.

The Existential Counselors Society (ECS) staff were incredibly supportive and genuinely cared about my recovery journey. Their personalized approach to therapy, combined with the structured group sessions, helped me gain valuable tools to manage my addiction. I felt safe and encouraged throughout my time there, and would highly recommend this program to anyone seeking lasting change.

I could write a five-page review but instead I'll just say that 5 years later I'm still drug and alcohol free and leave it at that. If you are truly serious and want to change this is the place to go. Update: I am now 8 years sober and clean and life is great. Remembering it all started at ECS and am aware that they have improved. More affiliated sober homes ( I could not have made it without one). They also have external meetings throughout the week for for graduates of ECS. They provide everything for success, you just have to be willing to put in the work. Looking back now I am still grateful for ECS for saving my life.

THERE IS NOT ENOUGH FOOD FOR PATIENTS, ITS NOT CLEAN, THERES NOT ENOUGH SHEETS FOR PATIENTS. THIS IS A SCAM. DO NOT SEND LOVED ONES OR YOURSELF.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
ECS is not meant for everyone. Fortunately, we have honest people who give real experiences of ECS, and the owner and staff ensure that all clients are well looked after and treated with respect and dignity above all else. We hope that you or your loved one find treatment that suits your needs. Recovery is always number 1.
