About Four Directions Counseling and Recovery Center

Four Directions Counseling and Recovery Center is in downtown Lexington, North Carolina, and they focus mainly on outpatient services for people dealing with addiction and mental health challenges. They offer standard outpatient treatment if you need something more low-key, or an intensive outpatient program (IOP) if you’re looking for more structure a few times a week. They use things like cognitive behavioral therapy, relapse prevention and motivational interviewing that help you figure out patterns, emotions, and what to do when things get hard. There’s also trauma counseling that can help you recover.

Diverse Client Base

They see teens, adults and older clients and offer support for people who’ve been through unique struggles including veterans, LGBTQ clients, people who’ve experienced domestic violence or sexual abuse. I like that they also try to help people who have been referred to them by the courts. They’re not limited to one type of client, and they seem to understand that people come in with different kinds of history.

Accessible Treatment Services

Besides the actual therapy, they handle assessments, drug screenings, discharge planning, and they stay in touch after you finish, if that’s helpful. You can meet with someone in person or through telehealth, giving you that flexibility you may need depending on your circumstance.

It’s a simple clinic, but it feels like a place that’s focused on getting results for your life. They help you show up to do the work, talk through your issues, and make a plan that actually fits your life. If you’re trying to stay sober, get out of a bad cycle, or just talk to someone who won’t judge you, it seems like a decent place to start.

When my first assessment at Greens service lapsed after 6 months, I had to do another assessment and didn't want to wait 8 to 10 weeks for another assessment. So I called this 4 Directions to see how far out their would be and surprisingly, I was able to have appointment Tuesday on next following week. I was very disappointed with results after assessment with 4 Directions, she only asked a dozen of questions compared to About 200 questions with Greens service. So, Greens gave me 40 hours of group meeting and 4 Directions gave me 90 hours max. My lawyer flipped out over this and told me to do another one with greens which I am doing. I guess she figure I'd go to her group meetings where she can make more money this way which is about $50 each 2 hrs meeting. DON'T come here for assessment because she'll MAX it out on you. That why she don't have many customers. It's all about money she after for.!

We deeply regret that you were unsatisfied with your experience at Four Directions Counseling and Recovery Center. While I will not speak publicly to any details related to your individual assessment, I will say that we strive to uphold the highest level of professionalism and service possible and take seriously any complaints regarding our service. The recommended level of treatment is specific to your assessment based on criteria provided by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).

Per your review, the information you provided through an interview process and standardized test provided to all clients, the level of treatment recommended was a 90 hour, or Intensive Outpatient program, which our facility does not provide. If you were recommended to complete a 90-hour program, you also would have been provided with a referral to another facility to provide this service since we only provide shorter or longer-term outpatient programs up to 40 hours. Again, I regret your dissatisfaction with the recommended level of treatment and am willing to speak with you personally about any related questions you may have. Please know that if personal gain was the basis for your recommendation, you would not have been recommended to complete a program not provided by our facility. Rather, as has always been my personal commitment to the substance use field, recommendations are to provide clients with the greatest opportunity for success regardless of where treatment is completed. I appreciate your review and wish you much
success.

Sincerely,
Ellen E. Elliott, PhD, LCAS, LCMHC, CCS, CSAT

I have been trying to contact. Someone now for past three weeks. No one ever answers the phone or return phone call and I have left at least 2 messages. This is highly unacceptable and unprofessional.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

There are many types of drug rehab in North Carolina. To receive treatment for addiction, you can choose from many inpatient and outpatient programs. Often, participants start with detox and work through a full continuum of care that continues with ongoing support for long-term recovery.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Accreditations

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Established in 1992 by congress, SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on American's communities.
