About Gateway Behavioral Health Services

Located in Hinesville, Georgia, is the Gateway Behavioral Health Services outpatient clinic. This clinic offers mental health services and addiction disease services for adults, adolescents, and children. Care here is offered in an outpatient setting and is rooted in evidence based and social support services.

They accept policies from most major insurance providers. However, you won’t be denied treatment because of an inability to pay. There are sliding scale discounts available that can help make access to care more affordable as well.

Assessments, Treatment, and Aftercare Services

The addiction disease services here are comprehensive and include everything from assessments to psychiatric evaluations to community based treatment. You’ll work with a dedicated team of behavioral health professionals and addiction specialists who will determine what the appropriate treatment plan for your recovery looks like.

To help you build your sense of independence, there’s supported employment and job coaching so that you can find gainful employment that will help you maintain your independence and sobriety.

Integrated Healthcare

The services here are provided in conjunction with coordination from your primary care provider. This ensures that all aspects of your health and recovery are addressed. This can include incorporating treatment for medical health issues you have or co-occurring mental health struggles you’re working through.

As an individual who has worked in mental health and Healthcare for many years, I find it very odd and borderline dangerous to have a very small window for first come first serve first time appointments especiallyfor pediatrics who are already on medication and go else where for counseling. My daughter needs her prescription for an antidepressant filled and her pediatrician won't fill it. So now we have to miss work/school and pray she gets seen so she doesn't miss out on her medication that she NEEDS. This is is detrimental to her mental health if she doesn't get her prescription filled. I've never seen such a thing.Mental Healthcare is Healthcare.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Aftercare, which is sometimes referred to as continuing care or relapse prevention, is a type of structured care meant to help you continue with the progress you've made after completing an addiction treatment program. Most of the time, you'll continue receiving support after a treatment program by partnering with their case managers and staff to identify and access the resources you need to remain sober.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in Georgia is designed to encourage an individual to get the treatment they need. This effort aims to break through resistance and motivate the individual to get help. The process typically involves loved ones sharing their concerns with the individual and how their substance use has affected those who care about them. A professional interventionist can help guide this conversation and explain from the clinical side how treatment can be beneficial.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

While cognitive behavioral therapy in Georgia is unique for each person, this therapy follows a standard structure that has proven effective. Clients first learn about their substance use disorder, then learn and practice techniques such as coping, stress management, and resilience to change their thought and behavior patterns.

While each person is unique, the typical length for dialectical behavior therapy is six months to a year. You'll attend weekly hour long individual sessions with your therapist, as well as weekly group sessions. Homework between sessions often includes keeping a diary to track your emotions and behaviors. Your therapist uses this diary to guide the focus of each session.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

During rehab in Georgia, you may engage in motivational interviewing. This typically lasts one to two sessions and is designed to address any ambivalence you have toward change. It helps you explore your current situation and motivations and commit to making changes for the future.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

My issue is mostly with the front desk staff. I am struggling mentally and emotionally with the passing of my child and was told by my employers to have a form filled out so that I may take the leave needed to grieve. The NP took a copy of the form and said she would bring it to her supervisor to see if it could be signed. I followed up a few times only to be told I would get a call back and when I called this final time I was rudely spoken to by a staff member and told that the NP had told me she would not sign it when that is not remotely true. The NP had taken the form and copied it and said she would take said copy to her supervisor. That she maid no promises but she will run it by her supervisor. At no point did she say she would not sign it and at no point was I given a call to be informed on whether or not she was able to get an approval by her supervisor. So to be rudely spoken to and to have someone do visibly annoyed but someone seeking assistance and to hear an employee of a mental health clinic huff and puff and sigh over the phone is absolutely insane. To be told to hold on and actually hear the phone slammed shut from the other end is so careless and harsh especially knowing the kind of people who are seeking help from this clinic are people in need.

After 30 mins of questioning for my initial evaluation I wanted to make sure that I was going to see a doctor so that I could get the meds I have been taking for the last 4 years which we discussed in the first 5 mins of the evaluation. That’s when I was informed that they do not give stimulants to adults. I would never have stayed if I would have been told that in the first 5 mins. I also found it odd they wanted our financials when Tricare pays for everything. I was called later that week to see if the treatment they provided was helping. I told her I never saw a doctor and that my insurance should not be billed. I was told a supervisor would call me about the issue but of course never happened. I will be contacting Tricare and Winn to push for this office to not be referred too.

I've been coming here for some months. So far my therapist is good the nurse practitioner is good. Here's where I get a bad taste. I got to the right window and give the lady the paperwork. I'm showing myself as friendly. She doesn't ask me what time or day works best for my next appointment. She came off somewhat nasty as if I'm bothering her. As I stated she sits on the right when you walk in. Her hair is pulled back in a ponytail and she has an earring in her nose. None of that bothers me,it's the lack consideration and professionalism that caused me to address this.

Absolutely horrible. The receptionist Renee is SO rude. The process of getting simple medication for a tricare beneficiary is terrible. Had to schedule multiple "initial" appointments. I assume it was so that they could bill the government multiple times. Gotta maximize that profit even if it is at the cost of a young autistic child.
