About Life Challenge Ministries
Life Challenge Ministries is part of the Christ-centered Adult and Teen Challenge. They operate a residential recovery for men and women in Detroit, Michigan. These programs serve adults over 18 by providing a structured and communal living space to navigate recovery.
A Community-driven Recovery For You
Separate campuses are available for men and women, but the recovery approach is the same. The campuses are clean and fully equipped to optimize healthy community living. Residents benefit from a full year of support including room, board, and transportation.
The program aims to restore communities via faith-based recovery and reconciliation with God. You’ll enter into a loving and supportive Christian community where you’ll live, work, play, and pray with others. You’ll reestablish your network of broken relationships and confront the unhealthy pattern of behavior that contributed to substance use. Perhaps the best aspect is that you’ll be removed from your toxic environment alongside the triggers that fueled your addiction.
Phased Faith-based Recovery
One defining attribute of this program is the emphasis on strengthening your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The program lasts for a year in four three-month recovery phases. You’re awarded a certificate as you navigate each phase and are recognized as a graduate upon completion. The wraparound services are tailored to meet your unique recovery needs via personalized treatment planning.
You’ll attend individual and group counseling to build strong coping strategies necessary for relapse prevention. You’ll attend daily Chapel services, Christian growth classes, and mentoring to help you discover God’s truth for yourself. It’s a great avenue to cultivate healthy relationships with others that can last a lifetime.
You’ll take part in work programs to learn positive work ethics and personal responsibility and find purpose in the work of your hand. Most work programs generate income to contribute to the cost of your healing process. You’ll pick up life skills like financial literacy, resume writing, and interview skills. Folks with medical issues and co-occurring disorders are provided requisite support via telehealth. Residents also enjoy some recreational time to just have fun and find joy in recovery.
Life Challenge Ministries also offers an outpatient program here for folks seeking more flexible treatment options. This program provides supportive services for individuals and families seeking to regain their freedom from addiction or co-occurring disorders.

If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. Levels of Care
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
12 step programs are typically community-based and peer-led, though many rehabs base their treatment models on this approach. Participants engage in regular 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, and accessible multiple times a day, 365 days a year in most communities. Participants are also mentored by self-selected sponsors who support them as they work through the 12 steps of recovery, which include addressing the causes of the disease, taking personal responsibility, and relinquishing control.
Programs
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
