About Merakey

Merakey Sharon Hill is a satellite location in Pennsylvania that provides a variety of behavioral health services including addiction recovery in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania. It is one of several clinic locations within the Merakey network which provides care in 12 states across the country. This specific location provides both inpatient and outpatient care as well as aftercare and transitional support to help you get back on your feet.

Crisis Intervention Support

One major issue with substance abuse is that if law enforcement is called, things can escalate quickly. I like that Merakey works with local Philadelphia police to provide assisted diversion. This ensures that if mental health is at the root of the issue, circumstances are handled with care to prevent dangerous outcomes.

Graduated Care When You Need It

Recovering from substance use disorder (SUD) can look different for everyone. That’s why I like that Merakey provides outpatient care with different levels of intensity depending on your current phase of recovery. Both allow for individual and group counseling but the intensive outpatient program (IOP) requires three hour group therapy sessions.

Monitored Detox

If you’re currently in the middle of active addiction, then you may benefit from participating in this facility’s medication assisted treatment (MAT) which allows for you to safely wean yourself off of substances without the risk of harsh withdrawal symptoms.

Transitional and Aftercare Support

Achieving sobriety is just one step towards turning your life around, many people will need help getting back on their feet. Merakey works to help adults who have experienced homelessness because of SUDs secure housing and ideally reunite with loved ones.

Merakey is horrible & unprofessional, I once attended them back in 2021 and their intake was way too long, plus some of the staff have a bad attitude towards me, just stay away from this mental health organization.

There s a lot of staff turnaround with the therapists. I ve had five therapists here in four years because they quit. I was on a waitlist for about ten months to see my current therapist, Julia, but she is honestly the best therapist I ve ever had. The new NP that takes care of my meds seems very nice.

I am not sure if I wrote a review of this place or not. BUT DON'T GO HERE! All they want to do is shove medication down your throat. The women here are mentally insane. Especially that "nurse practitioner"practitioners. Like who the hell tattoos eyebrows that thick to your own face? They were uneven. Instead of looking at the fact was abused growing up by people. In turn, she blamed me for everything and tried to force medication down my throat. They don't actually care! Especially for women! So, you're better off researching and doing your own diagnosis over becoming a vegetable with these people! I swear, whoever set up this place needs to go to the mental hospital themselves. Like people have ptsd, and can experience symptoms of autism because of this. But NOPE these mentally deranged people started blaming me for everything and decided I needed medication shoved down my throat. I have mental damage from my experience and it's a good laugh with everyone when I tell them about the tattoo eyebrows being uneven but on a serious note, we are seeking help. NOT to be told the abuse and the mental damage was our own fault! And it's hilarious and a punishment enough with them tattoo eyebrows being uneven!UPDATE: I SWEAR TO GOD THESE PEOPLE ARE ILLEGALY DIGNOSING PEOPLE TO MAKE MONEY! So, turns out what I was saying was all true. Family members admitted to the abuse. And these people said it was my own fault. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE AT ALL! YOU'RE GOING TO SCREW YOURSELF OVER!Update: Crazy eyebrow lady happened to show up at my work place. YOU COULD LITERALLY TELL SHE HAS ISSUES. Because I was at work, I couldn't address it with her. Lady thought her head was shaped weird. No lady, you have issues yourself! I swear if I wasn't at work, I would have let it all out. If you don't believe in God, you better now. Because it was years later she showed up and God showed me how mentally unstable she is in actuality.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab provides clients with an opportunity to focus solely on their sobriety away from the stressors of the home and workplace. Clients receive housing, food, and intensive clinical supervision. They also typically engage in multiple addiction counseling sessions each week, including daily individual, group, and/or family sessions. Most programs also prioritize recovery-focused life skills training, including courses in relapse prevention. Many facilities offer evidence-based holistic therapies, such as yoga and meditation.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients receiving services from a rehab aftercare program are usually stable and in the maintenance phase of recovery, having completed detox and/or intensive inpatient treatment. Rehab aftercare services can vary widely based on clients' individual and evolving needs, but often include peer coaching, relapse prevention support, 12 step program induction, and medical, mental health, and social service referrals. Individual care plans are typically developed by the client in partnership with their case manager and care team.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Personalized therapy sessions in Pennsylvania typically include a safe and nonjudgmental setting in which you can express your deepest emotions and feelings and explore the factors that have contributed to addiction. Therapists tailor the sessions to help you develop healthier thought patterns and behaviors, which improve your self control and build a foundation for your long term sobriety.

It's been over a month since I heard from Merakey about my son's medication. I had to go through family doctor to get his medication. They are not reliable at all. And this keeps happening. My son will go weeks or even months off his medication because they don't get back to anyone.

Well I’ve been a long time patient here, first off Dr Katina is a very friendly caring and professional psychiatrist and acknowledges my needs, but I used to have therapy here over the years but I went to one to another because they just quit after a few sessions or keep calling out, the front desk here when you try to call them it takes forever to get through to someone and some aren’t friendly or don’t even understand I have a hard time scheduling appointments here as well as a result but my psychiatrist is the only positive thing I have to say about merakey
