I’ve had five therapists here in four years because they quit. I was on a waitlist for about ten months to see my current therapist, Julia, but she is honestly the best therapist I’ve ever had. Ken, a councillor there, made it completely bearable; as he is kind, soft-spoken, and understanding. So much so, that in fact, I continue to go there for counseling even AFTER my court-order was completed... I need to make it clear though, that I never attended "rehab" (for drug use/detox) there; I have already been involved in the NA program, and as I stated before, I was only there to resolve and "satisfy" the conditions of my probation... Dr. Garg, is also understanding, and willing to prescribe medication to addicts, so long as they don't "spook" him... Regardless of that situation though; Dr. Nick S Garg is an awesome psychiatrist, who takes the time to really get to know the patient; or at least, that's what it is like for me there. :) Sir Thomas 5 years ago	2

I started out here on methadone, then left and came back on suboxine and now go there for the brixadi shot. All of the staff are so nice, easy to talk to and supportive. My counselor Jackie is the by far the best councelor I’ve ever sat down with in all my years in and out of addiction. She truly cares, and will go above and beyond to help you with anything you need. All the nurses are so great and easy to talk to. I highly recommend somerdale treatment center to anyone battling addiction and trying to work their way toward recovery. All the staff was wonderful. I want to highlight the following people from each department because without the staff here I would have not exceled. In Client Care, Melanie and Jack took a vested interest in my recovery journey from start to finish. In nursing, Susan and Sierra were so sweet and were always there when I needed someone to listen and assisted me with anything I needed regarding my medication. Medical staff, Cindy was by far one of the best provider's I have ever met in a treatment setting. She was patient with me, addressed all my concerns and did not push any medication on me which was very much appreciated. Sabriya was an amazing recreational therapist and she found creative ways to bring me out of my shell and was always there when I needed someone to talk to. As far as facilitators, John and Michelle were absolutely top tier. The behavioral techs were amazing at the Haven. Bridget was wise beyond here years and became one of my main sounding boards during second shift. I also want to mention Angie, Tim, Cheena, and Zaahir who were instrumental in my recovery. I want to give a separate shout out to Amethyst who started working for the Haven during my stay. I was able to see her quickly adapt in her new role and how passionate she is to assist others, I can tell she has a drive for this and will most defiantly succeed. Last but certainly not least I want to recognize Rosie. She was the one who completed my intake. From our first interaction she promised my I was safe and she would be with me the whole way. Not only did she keep her promise but any time I panicked or had any concerns she was right there by my side. Even on her days off she checked in on me and let me know she was thinking of me and how I was doing in this brand new community. It's because of the dedication of these people and all the other staff that I was able to not only complete my treatment but also feel prepared and ready to tackle the real world, moving here to Jersey for a new start. Unfortunately, my addictions got the best of me and I relapsed and didn't return.I was so ashamed of myself I didn't want to show my face and went back to boozing and now thankfully I'm finally getting help that I need. I was admitted to Jefferson Hospital suffering from severe alcohol withdrawal syndrome, borderline experiencing auditory hallucinations. I was also suffering from gait abnormality and balance and coordination issues so they transferred me to Wyndmoor Hills for Physical therapy and once I'm discharged well before I'm discharged, I'll pick a rehab facility for inpatient treatment.Wish me luck. Once I was checked in, everybody I dealt with from the nurses to the doctor to the person that conducted my CT scan were so warm and comforting through my issues. I felt instant relief once I was in my room dealing with the medical staff. I can not stress enough how silly I feel ever feeling hesitant of visiting this facility. I have never been treated so well by medical staff. VA facilities have had a stigma over the years but I can not stress enough how wonderful of an experience I had once I was I checked in. Only the workers and patients are allowed inside. The guard stopped us at the door, but he was friendly and empathetic. He assured us that he would be well taken care of, which was true. I was particularly concerned about his safety and well-being because of the negative reviews I had read. According to the rehab policy, I couldn’t contact him, and he was only allowed to make phone calls with his counselor. He managed to make one call and was released today. I finally had the opportunity to talk to him about his experience. Our father is a retired attorney and highly intelligent, but he has struggled with addiction throughout his life. He can be belligerent and argumentative at times. I was unsure how the staff and residents would interact with him. To my delight, my father had an excellent experience at the center. He described the facility as spotlessly clean and the staff as friendly and cultured. He praised the food and mentioned that he was able to get plenty of rest. The only downside he mentioned was that patients were limited to two or three ten-minute smoke breaks outside and there were no activities to keep them occupied, making his days feel long. I found this to be a pity, considering the center’s beautiful surroundings. Fresh air and sunlight are essential for health and well-being, but that was the only complaint he had. Overall, I highly recommend this center and wish my father had chosen to stay longer. I would also like to mention that the admission process was quick and easy. The representative was very friendly and helpful. Overall, I highly recommend this center, provided that you are okay with not being able to contact or speak with anyone from the center at all or hear from your loved one on a very limited basis. The staff at the time taught me to listen, learn and examine my motives. I was a horrible patient but they got through in spite of myself. We started the Valley Forge Alumni Association (me, Linda McD. and and Curt C.) in 1981.The place has done a lot of good for a lot of people. Sobriety isn't for those who want it or even for those who need it. Sobriety is for those who are willing to do the work to earn it. Once we stop complaining and start doing the work, life gets better. May God continue to bless us all. EDIT. Just celebrated 45 years of continued sobriety.
