Decent place but RCA in raritan bay was by far better in every aspect. Some of the staff at pinelands were amazing while others weren t. The building is small and every group is always in the same room. It s gets very old and mundane quickly. They charge you for your own meds because they won t go through your own pharmacy. Never ever dealt with a rehab that charged me for my own meds. The staff eats our food so we ARENT ALLOWED TO GET A SECOND PLATE TILL AFTER THEY EAT. Sometimes you can t even get a second plate because the food is gone. Not even sure if it s legal for our insurance to pay for staff meals. The med line is a complete mess, it took me 45 min one day to get Tylenol. There are 2 nurses in the office and for some reason both of them can only handle one patient. Makes no sense. The beds are beyond terrible as well as the pillows. For 3 weeks I was in terrible pain because the beds were that bad. There was a terrible cold/flu going around the entire building and they would FORCE sick patients to go to group. If you didn t go they would punish you by taking away your phone calls and gym privileges even though you were extremely sick.

Accepted Insurance

Pinelands Recovery Center of Medford works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. With medical stabilization, clients feel comfortable and cared for, so they want to continue the process of recovery. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. Continuing IOP at one of our facilities involves a minimum 3 hours participation every day.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Stay away

Stay away. They charged my card $400 for a test and not give me results when I left. Only because I had to leave on the 8th day. They would have kept my belongings for 3 days so I should have left on the 5th day to care for my very sick mom.

April 2 2025 my life totally changed. As a result of prayer to my Lord Jesus Christ, I was directed to PRC. The staff welcomed me with love, acceptance, hope. I found a safe place to share the hurts, pains and trauma life hit me with that lead to my decisions to use drugs and alcohol to cope with the pain. During my 28 day stay I was fully equipped with proven tools of sobriety that have help me stay and maintain sobriety 59 days later. The Professional, knowledgeable, living testimonies and sober examples of Pinelands staff produced in me an image of seeing myself living happy, joyous and free a sober life that is beneficial to myself, my family and everyone around in every place I go. God used Pinelands Recovery Center to help me realize my value and worth as a human being. Today I love myself and others enough to be good to myself and others even on so called "Bad Day" I learned to practice gratitude, grounding techs which help remain present in the moment and not decisions based of emotions or negative thoughts. If you or a love one is battling addiction to alcohol or drugs. I highly recommend Pinelands Recovery Center, they helped me get to the root and heart of the matter of why I was drinking and drugging. I've gain the tools to dig up the root and deal with the issues of my heart. I was given a rock solid start point for this life long, beautiful journey of sobriety for myself yet not by myself. PRC community of loving, caring, kind, generous, professional, knowledgeable staff; continues to reachout and support me everyday!! There is hope, you don't have to live the rest of your life in pain, misery, isolation, discomfort, discouragement, doubt and turned out on drugs or alcohol. Let Pinelands Recovery Center help you begin a beautiful new life of recovery so can experience joy and happiness of a brand new sober life. Thank you God for Pinelands Recovery Center 🙏🏿 Robert M. I am honored to write my thoughts on my experience Pinelands. The facility is amazing and the staff are awesome. I really appreciated meeting the entire clinical team on my first day which was unique. It really set the tone for my stay. Shout to my therapist Joe who used guided meditation before groups with my peers who also worked with Joe. I use guided meditation often today. Overall, I am very grateful and will always make time for the monthly alumni Zoom calls when I can.

A Life-Changing Experience at Pinelands Recovery Center I spent 28 days at Pinelands Recovery Center, and it was truly one of the most meaningful and transformative experiences of my life. From the moment I arrived, I felt a deep sense of care, compassion, and genuine love from the entire staff. The employees there don’t just work a job—they live the mission of recovery, and it shows in everything they do. My therapist, Nikki, was instrumental in helping me open up and start to heal. Monica, my case manager, went above and beyond to support me every step of the way, and I will always be grateful for her guidance. There were so many incredible people who touched my heart—Eric, Keith, the entire nursing staff—each one left a lasting impression on my journey. I’ll never forget how Erica took the time to sit with me and reminded me that I mattered. Edward and Brian both made moments to check in, ask if I was okay, and offer words of encouragement. Those seemingly small gestures made a massive impact, and they helped carry me through some of the toughest moments. Today, I’m doing well in my recovery, and I’m living a beautiful life in NA, one day at a time. I’ve become the coffee maker at my home group meeting, and I cherish every new day as the gift that it is. I can’t wait to come back to Pinelands one day—not as a client, but to visit, to celebrate, and to share my story with others who are just starting out. I would wholeheartedly recommend Pinelands Recovery Center to anyone seeking a place that not only acknowledges the disease of addiction but embraces it with understanding, compassion, and true love. They gave me the foundation I needed to start again—and for that, I will always be grateful.

Pinelands Recovery Center of Medford saved my life and helped me save my own. I was a fifty year old first timer. All of the staff from the top down were kind, giving, caring, friendly, helful and supportive. The individual and group therapy helped so very much and I am forever grateful. The med team and case management were on point as well. The facility is well maintained with many options available. We joked that it was the Ritz Carlton of Rehabs. I can't thank everyone of the Pinelands staff enough...They helped us forge a family both with them and with the fellow clients. I have been blessed by the whole experience and recovery process.

My experience at Pinelands was truly amazing. This is my first time in rehabilitation. I truly believe it will be my last. There are no words to describe how much I loved this place. I've heard stories about other rehabs so I'm grateful that this was the one I got sober in. Everyone was amazing. I didn't get to say goodbye to everyone but I just want to say thank you.. The care was beyond phenomenal. Can't wait for alumni nights. Every Sunday, from this point forward, will be a simple Sunday. Love you all! The kitchen staff, the techs, the nurses, recovery coaches etc will always have a place in my heart. Thank you!! 💗
