I m so grateful to my 30 days I spent at RCA Devon to get my life back together. This was my first time in treatment and I was scared to say the least. The therapists, group facilitators and RSS s realized how frightening of a time this was and took the time out of their days to make sure I was comfortable. The floor community we had was the most uplifting group of people I ve ever been a part of by far and I m still close with several people I d consider dear friends now. The care from RCA didn t just end when the 30 days passed , the made sure to outline aftercare for me and set everything up , not to mention working directly with my employer to handle FMLA so I wouldn t have that to worry about as well. If you re ready and willing to get help for yourself but are unsure of an extended in person rehab stay I couldn t recommend more giving it a try. I ve only been back out in the real world for a month and my life is immensely more enjoyable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart RCA DEVON :)

Accepted Insurance

Recovery Centers of America at Devon works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Each patient receiving inpatient treatment works with their medical staff to develop a personalized plan of care. The drug and alcohol treatment center plan delivers a customized clinical treatment program based on an individual patient’s needs, under the guidance of an experienced clinician, medical director, and personal case manager. Their integrative approach treats the whole person, focusing on the primary addiction and all physical & mental health issues.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients receiving services from a rehab aftercare program are usually stable and in the maintenance phase of recovery, having completed detox and/or intensive inpatient treatment. Rehab aftercare services can vary widely based on clients' individual and evolving needs, but often include peer coaching, relapse prevention support, 12 step program induction, and medical, mental health, and social service referrals. Individual care plans are typically developed by the client in partnership with their case manager and care team.
12-step icon12-Step
The values of the 12-step program are omnipresent throughout their treatment plans. They help their patients replace negative people, places and things with positive people, places and things. They believe in every patient’s ability to learn and thrive with good treatment, and that a rigorous 12-step foundation enables patients to transition successfully into a life of recovery.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Detox programs are a critical part of a drug and alcohol treatment center program for many patients. Detoxification can pose serious health risks and must be carried out under medical supervision. Medications may be involved to ensure a safe withdrawal while helping to ease the pain and discomfort often associated with withdrawal symptoms. Patients undergoing detox are closely monitored 24 hours a day by physicians and other medical staff.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

The nutritional specialists at their drug and alcohol treatment centers believe in the timeless adage that our body is a temple. They strive to help their residents build their bodies into strongholds that will weather the journey on the way to life re-imagined. Devon’s nutritional experts are also aware that there isn’t one diet that works for everyone. With this in mind, their approach is that each resident gets the proper guidance and nutrition to optimize their success.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Do not go for treatment

I was a patient at RCA in PA. I was treated very poorly. A staff member named Megan rss said to me “stop your bull shit” and I was told I was just one of 300 residents and my concerns were dismissed. I was scheduled to use my phone at 1:00 and the employee didn’t come ... Read More

Ran like a State run facility. The curriculum is literally the same 4 YouTube videos on repeat. Patients are over medicated and group facilitators allow them to take group after group hostage. Spent 30 days in this facility and my therapist was so overwhelmed that she didn't even give me a completion certificate. The poor RSS staff has been delegated more than their responsibilities. While I was there they shut down staff to the entire 4E floor; no nurse or RSS on the entire floor for an entire week. Huge safety concerns. One client had a seizure and the nurses had to come from other floors to give medical aid. Due to the fact I had premium insurance they continued to extend my stay for weeks. It almost cost me my job. Upper management had one concern which literally was to squeeze every drop of insurance money they could out of my insurance. The food was sub-par for a private facility. I would rate this facility zero if I could. Clients were literally making out for weeks and weeks in the patient lounge. Their camera systems are not operational. Some of the staff was useful due to their empathy. Please do not send yourself or a loved one to this facility. It is truly disturbing that places like this exist. Before I left on the 28th of May, I was informed that they are shifting to accept State funding in order to qualify for more grants from state and federal government. They push MAT like the Eagles tush push. I wouldn't recommend RCA Devon to my worst enemy. Again I completed the program and was enthusiastic about coming in for real help. I had been a previous client in 2019 and cannot stress enough how much this facility a fallen off the map in a negative way. There were literally clients dipping out face down in their plate after being in the facility for weeks. The doctors are clearly running an agenda that does not align with anything at all about recovery. It is extremely disconcerting that so may other people are wrong 5 star reviews towards this institution. This is life and death for me and so many others. Don't drink the cool aid. Give yourself a chance, find help elsewhere.

Thank you to all the staff of RCA Devon who helped me stop drinking for good. Shout out to Katie, Mark, and Billy. You guys really helped change my perspectives and helped me realize the error of my ways. Recovery is a lot easier when you are surrounded by people who really “get it”, and that was my experience at RCA. Thanks for all the love and support.

Where do I start about RCA Devon! What an amazing experience to say the least. I have never been afforded an opportunity like this the staff at RCA Devon are absolutely amazing. I want to start by thanking Jackie and Kristin in case management. They went above and beyond to not only secure my job get me into iop but they sat wih me they listened to me they helped me in areas they don't specialize in and I am truly grateful to have had these beautiful women have a hand in my recovery process. Next I want to thank Joey in alumni notice I said in alumni but when I met Joey I was screaming in the hallway about how bad my detox was and he came out of his office and took me under his wing so to speak and personally escorted me to every nursing office in the building until we found one that could help me he saw me threw the whole process. He didn't leave me until he made sure I was in good hands. Talk about above and beyond. Next I want to thank the entire RSS staff all of you have been amazing dealing with me and my ish! It takes a strong team to care for me and you guys did it without fail. Last but not least shout out to nursing for all you do you guys rock.

I had the privilege of having Jackie during my time at RCA and I can confidently say she played a huge role in my recovery journey. From the very beginning, she showed compassion, patience, and a deep understanding of what I was going through. She made time to check in with me, provided thoughtful guidance, and helped me navigate the challenges I faced with genuine care and support. What stood out the most was how Jacki always listened without judgment and worked with me to build a plan that felt achievable and empowering. Her dedication and professionalism made a real difference in my progress, and I’m truly grateful for everything she did to support me. If you’re lucky enough to have Jackie as your case manager, know you’re in great hands!!!

RCA Devon is exactly the definition of Chaos: a state of utter confusion or disorder; a total lack of organization or order. RCA is a Disgrace: the loss of respect, honor, or esteem; ignominy; shame. This employment establishment does not care or value its employees. Employees get verbally assaulted, way past the extent of the typical push back and resistance one would find in an inpatient treatment center. A physical assault occurred on an employee that went ignored and unsupported. No common courtesy of a phone call from leadership to see if employee was ok. No "Zero Tolerance" policy was followed for the assualt. Most incidents go to the wayside and are ignored, Since Chaos and verbal attacks have become the norm. In short if you value yourself then stay away from RCA. RCA is a failing establishment. RCA has lost its way as well as the people who could foresee dangers, now they spend all their time doing damage control. They do not care about their employees, patient care is in the toilet. Send your loved ones elsewhere and apply elsewhere.
