| Saint Vincent Health Center–Behavioral Health provides inpatient psychiatric and dual diagnosis care for adults in Erie, Pennsylvania. They offer specialized programming for seniors, young adults, persons with hearing impairments, and persons with co-occurring addiction and mental illness. Their primary treatment modalities include trauma informe | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I have severe Bipolar I disorder, and for awhile, I was a frequent flier at the psych ward here. This hospital is the better of choices when it comes to psychiatric care. All of the staff who work at 3R are remarkable, but George, Tori, and Dr. Kutzer really stand out.
Dr. Kutzer was aware of my history of eating disorder, and did her best to prescribe me medications that didn't cause weight gain; I didn't have this kind of experience at the other hospital in this area. She was also very sympathetic to my home life, and began to know me on a first-name basis.
The food at St. Vincent's is surprisingly good for hospital food, and they give you very ample portions.
I can speak on departments other than the psychiatric one as well, as St. Vincent's saved my grandfather's life around 32 years ago when they did a heart operation on him. They also saved my mom's life in 2022, when she needed emergency surgery. She was life lighted to Pittsburgh, and the hospital in Pittsburgh said that St. Vincent's saved her life with the emergency operation they did.
I spent a lot of time in St. Vincent's due to my psychiatric disorder, and the staff was usually pretty accommodating. On the off times they did get irritated, it was because I kept asking the same questions.

My wife was recently a patient here, and the care she received was phenomenal. The doctors and nurses were compassionate, attentive, and made sure she was comfortable and well-informed every step of the way. We’re both extremely grateful for the professionalism and kindness shown by the entire staff. Highly recommend this hospital.

(I arrived around 11pm - 12am) I can’t express the amount of love I have for this hospital and their staff. 3-Days ago I went in because I was having server stomach pain. They immediately did a urine test, blood work, and a catscan. The results came back around 1:40 and told me I needed to have my “Appendix removed” I was scared and terrified, and around 7:50-8:30am I was moved downstairs with a bed. (Staff was absolutely phenomenal.), and around 9:10am I was sent to pre-op and around 9:45am - 10:30am I was wheeled to surgery. The staff team from every department was amazing, and I felt like I was in really good hands. I was out of surgery between 12-1 that afternoon, and I left the hospital (At my discretion) that evening. During the whole process every department made sure I was comfortable, and I was doing okay. (They were even amazing to my husband; keeping him updated on everything since he had to take care of some things at home, and making sure he was comfortable when he was there.) I am home and doing better 3 days later but I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE St. Vincent and honestly, I will not go elsewhere anymore. I even started the transition from a UPMC PCP to a AHN PCP because St. Vincent took really great care of me throughout everything!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys saved my life as my appendix could of exploded, or got extremely worse. No words can explain how thankful I am for this hospital and everyone who works there!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!

I was a resident there in the late 80s I remember the staff there I remember a lot of the staff members. They were very supportive got me through a lot of hard times I didn’t have the greatest upbringing, but the first time I fell in love With a boy, he was a resident there as well. I don’t have a whole Lotta great memories in my life, but I remember being there and I remember having somebody that I could talk to whether it was a staff member or staff member in the unit. The counselors used to sing a song and play guitar and it was such an amazing song and this day I remember that song, I remember going on activities and playing baseball and finally for the first time in my life having somebody that actually listen to me I would actually love to be able to get a hold of an employee there. His name is Glenn. He was on the boys unit last I heard he was working in the school Wrote a story about the boy I remember in my life during time I really needed them so thank you To the staff that was there during the time I was there

Just the facts:
I have been denied disability benefits because I only served during peacetime. My unit lost 9 men, 8 service members and one CIA Man, in the desert of Tehran April 25th 1980 Delta Force.
Emotional roller-coaster - A ride I do not want to get on, but sometimes I have no choice. I currently take Sertraline to reduce attacks and increase control.
Memory loss causes distortions. Those distortions result in me second-guessing incoming emotions causing what looks like a panic attack.
Dr David Mathis confirmed memory loss consented for security reasons in my medical file Feb 1980.
The United States War Library, Federal Government Form DD-214, and the Air Force photo archives confirm my deployment 60 days later April 1980 Into Tehran with the first Delta Force.
Just the facts:
Thank you:
2 years ago I laid in my bed and all I could think of was committing mass murder so I could reduce Humanity and then take my own life.
The Erie Pennsylvania VA team gave me what I really needed, someone that cared and would listen. Nobody wants to hear an old man's story.
- Erie, PA VA Medical helped me understand where I've been and what I've done.
- Erie, PA VA Medical gave me the tools to deal with my trauma.
- Erie, PA VA Medical showed me by example that life was precious.

Erie is the 370th most expensive city nationwide for addiction treatment affordability, with an average cost of addiction treatment of $47760. This is significantly lower than the average cost of $56708 for addiction treatment in Pennsylvania and significantly lower than the national average cost for drug rehab of $57,193.
The costs of drug and alcohol rehab in Erie vary widely and depend on several factors, including:
The costs of addiction treatment listed for cities and states are averages based on the cost of medical detox, inpatient rehab, outpatient rehab, and medication assisted treatment. These averages are high due to the cost of medical detoxification and residential inpatient rehab programs.
These numbers also reflect the raw cost of drug rehab, before any insurance coverage. The typical individual seeking addiction treatment can expect to pay much less for outpatient or intensive outpatient services than the averages listed below. There are many ways to pay for drug rehab in Erie. Most rehab treatment centers accept cash or self-payment, as well as private health insurance. However, there are many treatment centers in Erie that accept Medicaid and Medicare, or offer sliding scale payments or other low-cost payment options. Here's the complete breakdown of how to pay for addiction treatment near Erie.
Blue Cross Blue Shield is the most widely-accepted insurance for drug rehabs in Erie, with 6 treatment centers in the city accepting their insurance. UnitedHealth Group is the 2nd most popular with 6 treatment centers accepting it followed by Aetna in 3rd accepted by 5 drug rehabs.
Erie has the 45th highest rate of drug use nationwide among nearly 400 cities surveyed. This number reflects the combined use of cocaine, heroin, meth, and marijuana, displayed individually below. The percent shown for each drug represents the number of residents in Erie county that have reported ever using the following drugs, so these numbers should not be interpreted as direct evidence of current drug use in Erie or Erie county as a whole.
In 2023, Erie had the 223rd highest number narcotics violations out of 330 cities nationwide, with a total of 247 reported drug-related incidents that year. This includes cases of public intoxication, drug arrests, narcotics found during house calls and traffic stops, and any other drug-related crime.
Keep in mind these numbers are dependent on accurate record keeping and reporting laws by local police and sheriffs, and may not fully reflect all drug related crime in Erie. All values are per 100,000 population.
